  1. I think that sometimes people have to remind Ned that he is the manager. I am now losing sleep over the Brewers.
  2. DM stays with a collapse. I think he is still better than a lot of GMs. Ned would be the fall guy. Let's hope we make the playoffs so that this conversation becomes moot!
  3. I saw a blind squirrel find a nut once. It looked a lot like that.
  4. I thought that CC threw too many pitches, and in a game in which he didn't have too. He had problems in the play-offs last year and many self-proclaimed experts attribute to all of the innings he pitched during the season. I hope he doesn't have the same problems for us in the last two weeks of the season. I would much rather skip a guy and pitch CC and Ben more often. That is where we have an advantage.
  5. Teams in pennant races usually don't add as many players as teams out of the race. I think that we will add Stetter (bullpen lefty), Gibbons(pinch-hitter), Rottino(3rd catcher), Dillon(utility player), and Gwynn(pinch-runner). Maybe another reliever. I feel like I have too many on this list.
  6. The Bucks second unit doesn't look to be real strong offensively. Alexander is going to have a lot of plays run for him when they are on the floor. He will get points. He will be very important to whatever success we have.
  7. I see some criticism of the Mo Williams trade. I don't think people realize just how poorly Mo has played for us. He didn't play D and he made poor decisions with the ball. I think he has value, put not as a point guard, and not at his current salary. We need a point guard who distributes and plays some defense. Someday we will get one. For now we will settle for people who want to do that. It will take awhile to change the roster over, but for the first time in a long time a get sense that we have competent people trying to do that. I saw in a previous post that someone doesn't like Andrew Bogut because he only has one post move. That would mean that he has one more move than Dwight Howard has, or Bill Laimbeer or Moses Malone had. We have not used Bogut well. Plus, he does not fit well with selfish teams. If he were with San Antonio he would be considered a star. I think that you will see Bogut have a very good season this year. I am guessing that he will be used as a passing center, his best role IMO.
  8. Speaking of team USA, their closer blew the lead in the bottom of the 9th. Why would you take a AAA closer out of the Indians organization?
  9. I think that they brought Nix up because he is more a middle-of-the-order type of hitter than Gwynn. If we were to put Gwynn in leftfield it would really change our offensive personality. I also think that we wanted a left-handed hitting OF to give us some versatility. As far as Counsell goes, I think that he is playing because he is a more dependable defensive player than the other two. I think that Branyan's defense has taken him out of the line-up. His range hasn't been real good. Counsell's playing can't be for offensive reasons, can it?
  10. I am not counting this one over yet. But I feel that I am being realistic in realizing that we can 't come back every night. We may have been a little flat tonight. That can happen after an emotional series like that one we just had. We need production from the bottom half of the order. That is a trend that worries me.
  11. The real problem is our 1 run. We should be able to beat a team that scores 3.
  12. I hope we don't fall behind. I think that we have used up our comeback victory allotment for the week. It sure seems a lot harder to score runs when Corey Hart is slumping.
  13. They will always be the Expos to me.
  14. Our bullpen lost some versatility with Gagne replacing DiFelice. CV is now the long man. He will now get less important innings. I think this is a mistake. We need to dump Mota and bring in a long man so that CV can get more important innings.
  15. Bill may play a game at second against the Reds.
  16. JJ is hot enough that if we could harness his heat we would no longer need fossil fuels.
  17. Did the Brewers restructure their offer? Or, did the reporters get things wrong yesterday.
  18. It seemed to me that the Fox broadcasters find a trade of Sabathia to the Dodgers interesting, and a trade of him to the Brewers uninteresting.
  19. I don't know if he is tipping his pitches or not. I just think he has lost command of his pitches. He never hits the target.
  20. Cito brought about his firing when, with two weeks to go in the season, he told then-GM Gord Ash that he was going on vacation when the season was over and wasn't going to be available to do player evaluations. Cito may have just been tired of hearing rumors and wanted to get the firing over with, but I think it left a bad taste in the mouths of a lot baseball front office people.
  21. There was a logical reason to leave Villy in, and there was a logical reason to make the change. I am only going to point my finger at Mota and Shouse over this one. I will say that I could tell during the second hitter that Mota had nothing. We may have stayed with him too long.
  22. To me, it seems like we make more outs on the bases then our opponents do against us. I have no stats to back that up though. If my hunch is right it doesn't necessarily mean that we make more outs on the bases than other teams, it could mean that don't execute in those same situations when we are in the field. It also seems that things have been a little more even in the last couple of weeks. I do know that Ned's public explanation for the 3rd base coaching change this year was to get more aggressive on the bases. As a basketball coach I hate turnovers. I tend to equate outs on the bases like turnovers in basketball. I probably get irrational over outs on the bases. Maybe I am just an Earl Weaver/Bill Virdon fan.
  23. After a certain point starting tuning out the manager. It happens everywhere. Those guys need may just need to here the message from a new voice.
  24. We asked Mota to throw four scoreless innings in two days time. That is a lot to ask of anyone. We needed a lot more out of Parra today. Manny reminds me a lot of Juan Nieves. Manny has talent, I am just not sure if he wouldn't be better served with a little more minor league seasoning.
  25. Our catchers under Ned have a history of getting off to good starts in the Spring, then after getting a similar "iron man" teatment, they tail off trememdously as the season goes along. Why would think that anything different would happen this year?
