  1. I have to think the Phils didn't want to ruffle the feathers of their postseson MVP. Considering how poorly they handled the Ryan Howard arbitration process last year (and the subsequent schism that has since formed between Howard and the org.), I can't say I find fault with this course of action. It gets him signed and obviously it keeps him happy as well.
  2. I'm doubly surprised. I remember when he first hit the FA market and people were banding around a $10-12M/yr contract. I thought THAT was awe-inspiringly low for a slugger of his ilk. So we could cut salary by trading Prince and signing Dunn??? CRAZY market.
  3. I think the Bradley signing is going to blow up in their faces. Bradley is all but assured of getting injured, as well as angry. And the loss of DeRosa hurts EVERYWHERE. He was everything Bill Hall was supposed to be.
  4. Well unless Oden ends up in early foul trouble, we're going to live or die by Redd's (and to a lesser extent, RJ's) jumpshot. And will SOMEONE tell Danny G that he's a 5, and not a 3. The guy thinks he's Villanueva now because he's been hitting perimeter shots in practice. But yeah, we'll win tonight.
  5. I'd be down for the AL Keeper League. What are the categories?
  6. Raines....84% success rate on 800+ SB's. If not for Rickey Henderson, wouldn't he be at worst a third to fifth ballot? Then again, what do you expect from an electorate that doesn't even unanimously believe the Halls should be open for the greatest basestealer of all-tie? Raines was underappreciated because he didn't have the American spotlight north of the border. If he would have broken in with New York (well then he may have gone the way of Doc Gooden), he would be Bernie Williams/Paul O'Neill (sans Seinfeld cameo)/Derek Jeter combined. We have been reprogrammed to appreciate the subtle things a timely walk, stolen base, and eventual run can bring to a game. Unfortunately, on a team like the 'spos, his talents were wasted. Just imagine what type of early success he could have had on Jeter's Yanks or Rickey's A's.
  7. The Once and Future Donkey Quarterback It could be a case similar to Owen Daniels, where he's recruited as a QB, but was guaranteed nothing.
  8. Long Live the Prince Great article in the JSOnline today in regards to our defensive whiz kid. Definitely puts his upbringing and psyche in perspective. Bogut and the Prince are the type of professionals the NBA needs to endorse.
  9. I still remember that gaffe he made when he tried to hide his injury. I remember thinking that day, "He gone." Imagine crashing the company car and then trying to hide it. Good times.
  10. And what if we would have completely imploded like a few years ago, expediting Mark A's sale of the team, which in turn, gets the Drunken Pilots moved to...Juneau?? Doug Melvin saved baseball in Milwaukee. :-)
  11. If Dave Bush were a FA, I'd give him 3/$27M. The first postseason win in 26 years doesn't come cheap.
  12. Well considering Dunn was recruited to Texas U. to play quarterback out of HS, I'm sure he's probably got a pretty good fastball.
  13. I would have preferred a Doug Davis (2 year) extention, but $4M, how can you find fault? I would take Bush over Looper, the Fruit Loop is going to cost at least twice that.
  14. I have been watching the Bucks, and hence, that's why I think some team is going to severely overpay for Luke the Duck (He's an OU product). As for CV, I mean no disrespect. He's one of my favorite players, and by actually pointing out that he does, in fact, suffer from Alopecia, most people just move on instead of simply dwelling on the "bald basketball player." I can only assume you would rather people do this in whispers. As for RJ, there was much made about the time it took for him to make a public appearance after he was traded. Supposedly, he made it known through sources that he didn't want to come to Milwaukee. I just don't understand how his numbers fell off so much. Was last year simply his career year? No one has a career year playing with Vinsanity....except T-Mac (it seems like that was the last time he was truly healthy) or his cousin.
  15. Well Redd in college, and his first year in the pros, was the epitome of a slasher. It wasn't until Ray-Ray took him under his wing that he began to focus whole-heartedly on the outside shot. As for RJ, I continue to wonder if he is just completely unhappy in Milwaukee. We all remember how he fought tooth-and-nail not to come here, much like the Chairman before him. As for the Vanilla Sky Debate, I just continue to hope the Bucks sign the Alopecia'd One to complement the Bony Banger (VS) and the Prince underneath. I think we have a lot of the right pieces, though I do think we need a BETTER PG. Is Jr. Conley the right fit? Probably not. But I also don't think Razor Ramon is right for this team. To me, the top building blocks on the Bux are, in order: Bogut! The guy has such a pretty baby left hook and he's really committed to rebounding. I just continue to hope his back holds up, the story of all big men. The Prince. A young Ron Artest, without the baggage (both emotional, and physical...He Fat). Very excited about the young man's future. Vanilla Sky. He's got the hops to be called Milwaukee's Finest. He's inexperienced overall, but again, how can you not be excited? The Alopecia'd One. Well as anyone who knows about Alopecia, health is rarely the issue, as the guy has a boosted immune system. Unfortunately, that's where talk of his body's defense ends. Offensively, however, he ranks up there with Redd, both in quality and quantity. Pay the Man. Redd. You win by scoring the most points last time I checked. Razor Ramon. Quick, big, and fearless. Good ceiling, but far from it. Good at getting to the paint and creating contact, though his kicks are nothing to be mugged over. Speaking of mugging, his defense definitely is a work in progress. Luke the Duck. A Lame Duck PG who probably will be one of the most overpriced of 2009's PG crop. Bell. Umm...is he happy to be here yet? I feel like he's been waiting to go all Latrell on his teammates and coach since the Bux matched his offer. Maybe Steve Mariucci and Tom Izzo can mediate. Gadz-Can't we trade him for Jared Jeffries? RJ-Can't we trade him for....Chairman Yi and scraps? Nah. I'll keep my RJ. He's got nowhere to go but UP!
  16. A few years back, we almost up-ended the #1 seed (I beleive it was Reggie Miller's Pacers) from our #8 seed. The glory of the playoffs is that once you're in, anything can happen. And these Bucks have the spunk to absolutely upset the Celtics or the Cavs. Honestly, how much does a team with Mo at the point and a beatdown Big Ben at the pivot scare you?
  17. If we traded Corey, I would be very amenable to going after Bonds. Sign me up.
  18. Mr. Clutch, Big Papi, must have excreted some of his clutchness on his teammates before leaving for GREENer pastures.
  19. Mike Cameron probably recruited Ken Macha too! How or why...I don't know.
  20. It may be taking on $15M in contracts this year, but after this year, both contracts are off the books. Also, with Beltre at the hot corner, it would definitely strengthen the trade value of the Soup Nazi. I wish we would have gotten Rolen last year (I doubt he would have been nearly as bed-ridden playing in Milwaukee as opposed to the Canadian Metrodome), but Beltre is definitely a large upgrade on Hall.
  21. Maybe we can teach Manny to pitch so he doesn't completely negate his offensive value with his defensive gaffes. He definitely has some Roy Hobbs-mojo going on.
  22. 52IP 36 SV 71K 19BB 1.31 WHIP
  23. As Bush goes, so go the Brewers.
  24. My question, what would Ryan Braun look like in the leadoff position? All I can do...is laugh. Then again, I would actually be amenable to batting Prince leadoff. Put the big guy at the front of the buffet line.
  25. Yo 210IP 255K 3.15ERA 1.21WHIP Wins....??? 15-17, just because of the Ben Sheets-itis. For some reason, the Brewers never score a lot of runs when their ace is on the mound. Then again, Ben Sheets probably had the worst bat of any pitcher and Yo outhits his battery-mate.
