  1. Couldn't we be the first team to attempt to cut a player's salary by MORE than 20%? If ever there should be an exception, that would be it.
  2. Does that mean there will be two "Door Men"? Seriously, if you were going to cheer a team, which one do you cheer?
  3. I would actually say go with Cutler and Warner. Rodgers looked great on Monday, but against a Lions team that allowed the Burner to look like LT, I think we're going to see a three-headed monster of running backs run over the Lions. Cutler is going to be getting Brandon Marshall back, so he should be primed for a big game. And Warner has the most lethal combination of receivers, so he should be a must-start as long as he is the starter.
  4. Well according to mlbtraderumors.com, Eric Gagne would still be a Type B. I see no way we would offer Arby's to him, let alone arby, but I do find it humorous. Also of note is Brian Shouse's Type B status. I didn't know he had accumulated enough service time to file for FA.
  5. The only reason Howard got $10mil was because the Phils low-balled him, which, as evidenced by many on this board, could easily come to pass with Prince. Thus, proclaiming as fact that he won't get $10mil while saying you would only give him $5-6mil may in fact lead him to get the $10mil. If we offered 5 and he wanted 10, which figure is "more fair" for the youngest player to hit 50 HR's and whose established level of power production has a floor of 30-35?
  6. CJ Wilson is the lefty who showed up his own manager in Arlington when he was being yanked. I'd rather make Shouse the closer than pursue that guy.

  9. I've always been a fan of the crafty plumber masquerading as a baseball player (DaBush), and also I always wanted to get the shirt that Kumar wears in "H&K go to White Castle," which has something similar to my username. (edit: removed political comment --1992)
  10. I can't wait to see how we're going to pitch in the 17th. Warm up Escobar, you're going in.
  11. OH YEAH!!! Shousie is the...Shousie!~
  12. Hart with a late throw... No way! I thought a 1B in right field would be a Gold Glover!
  13. Well considering how the Cubby series began, I don't know if you can guarantee two W's when you begin a series with CC and Sheets.
  14. He really buckled down tonight....after serving up a HR and a double down the line. I have to say I would have rather seen it go CC to Torres, but he was the next best option for the eighth after Carlos pitched last night. Also, as evidenced by the Red Sox run last year, even when he's no good, he's still a good luck charm.
  15. I would think they'll let Salome produce huge numbers in AAA next year, while Escobar and Gamel are up with the ig club, enabling him to sweep OPotY honors. But honestly, he is the minor leaguer who excites me the most in the Brewers' org., at least until LaBat Blue (Lawrie) gets to show off the stick.
  16. It's a bit late so my internal abacus may be faulthy, but wouldn't that make them 18-6....which is a phenomenal way to end the season, on the way to the playoffs? Optimistic projections, but definitely doable.
  17. Eric Gagne? He's a free agent at the end of the year, and I doubt anyone would want to take him in a trade.
  18. Wasn't there another incident, where Hank Steinbrenner was telling Johan Santana through the press that he was going to make him the highest paid pitcher in the history of MLB? I don't have a link, but I do remember that there was much hullaballoo about it. Obviously, Bud feels that it is in the best interest of baseball to have a Steinbrenner threatening to make players even more ridiculously overpaid, and who is anyone to argue with the commish?
  19. Yes, but Brewer money isn't the same as Yankee money. If Hank wants his own lefty ace to rival Johan, there is no way we can compete. He could make CC a $200mil pitcher. Mark A. is not as able. He can make Ben Sheets a $100mil man, but he cannot be the ceiling on CC.
  20. I was at the Bush game ALMOST no-hitter. I remember the disappointment of watching Overbay leg out a triple in an 8-0 game...and then almost losing the game. Put me down as being happy with the W. Better 8-0 shutout than 8-7 nail-biter that burns out your bullpen.
  21. Prince finally hugs father and tells him he loves him....after CC eats Cecil.
  22. If it were around the Green Bay area, I would be interested. I was actually at a tournament yesterday...was a mid-stack at the final table and goosed the big stack into making a call (after he limped) with A-10 off pre-flop, after the short stack pushed for about 10 big blinds (I had about 45 big blinds, and the big one had about 180 big blinds). I show aces and after a flop of K-2-3 rainbow, the short stack mucks. The turn and river....10-10. I then go outside, and find that I also have a flat tire. Good times.
  23. I would be interested, though I live in Green Bay.
  24. And the Cubs thought they were the only team allowed to pad their record against the Pirates.
