  1. The way Hall has been stringing good AB's together, it was only a matter of time.
  2. I'm encouraged by Brewer thus far. I agree. I really expected him to be pretty bad in his first full season, just because of how raw he is considered to be.
  3. Jenkins is out of his head right now. I think this might be one of the most prolonged stints of consistent excellence of his career.
  4. I for one think Sheet's is hurt. His fastball has lacked his normal velocity all year long. Has he even hit 94 this season? Several times tonight, actually. I think his first fastball was 97 according to FSN.
  5. Yeah, the Cubs are 0-6 in 1 run games. That's going to even out. Even though they were overrated coming into the season, there's still quite a bit of talent on that team.
  6. Wow, I guess I never noticed how well she wears a shirt.
  7. He's at 88 pitches. I'd guess one more inning, and then let Dessens or Spurling finish it.
  8. Geoff was intentionally walked eight times last year. This is either the first or second time this year. I don't know if Geoff's ESPN stat page updates live or not. I'm about 99.9% sure that it's his second IBB this year.
  9. You know, I understand that the Cardinals might be upset and unfocused at this point, but the announcers are almost saying it as if they're saying "Well, Milwaukee wouldn't be winning this game if the Cardinals weren't so upset and unfocused." Agreed 100%. Sutcliffe is extraordinarily terrible tonight. I wish he would have gone golfing with Bill Murray before the game. He's making me yearn for Bill Schroeder.
  10. Outside of a select few places, people just don't turn out on weeknights in April. It's not anything to be discouraged about. As well as they are playing, they're not going to have any problem drawing in the summer months.
  11. I'll take a walk over an out any day of the week, though. And when the hits aren't dropping, it's nothing but outs. See his 2005 season as an example, or that couple week stretch prior to the HR he hit in Houston. Just because a guy makes a lot of contact doesn't make him a good hitter, and it doesn't mean he should hit 5th.
  12. Extend him now! I think you have to give him a $1 million bonus for every walk.
  13. Dave O'Brien is just terrible. "Suppan has really learned how to win since 2002" (paraphrase). Because through 2002 he was with the Royals. Then he went to a Cardinals team that won 105, 100, and 83 games, and voila! he was a "winner". How do dolts like this get national gigs? Earlier in the game he was implying that the Brewers were winning because of Counsell.
  14. I haven't actually "purchased" it (yet) but the new Feist album "The Reminder" comes out tomorrow. I have had it for a month or so and listened to it probably 10 times or so. It's definitely going to be one of the best albums released in 2007. There's four standout songs, to me, "I Feel it All", "The Limit to Your Love", "1234", and "Brandy Alexander", but the entire album is strong. It's only $7.99 at Best Buy this week, so if you've got 8 bucks burning a hole in your pocket, buy this.
  15. Braden Looper: Ace??? This would be a good time for him to start his precipitous regression to the mean.
  16. The more I think about it, I think Gabe Gross might be dealt at the deadline, if all stay healthy. A team might look at Gabe as a cheap, athletic corner OF with some ceiling, and give away a high paid vet for Gabe and a hard thrower from AAA. I'd really hate to see that. Surely they're not going to go into next season with the Jenkins/Mench platoon again, are they? I think Gross would be an excellent bat to have on your bench in a possible playoff series, though it's too early to be thinking that way.
  17. Good to see that version of Hambone show up. 3 ER in 6 IP is a quality start for most pitchers, but for Inman, that is getting shelled. Now he is probably going to be angry.
  18. Yeah, the Brewers will basically be in a perfect position in terms of position player depth once Braun comes up. Graffanino/Counsell is just awesome as far as back-up utility IF's go. I don't see them making any moves to add players for this season (at this time, of course there is always the threat of injury). I could see them trading for a minimal part, like a second LOOGY or something, but that's doubtful (maybe they'll pick up Cormier - he got DFA'd).
  19. Nine baserunners and 98 pitches in 5 innings is the definition of a bad start.
  20. Right, but Vargas is a 5.00 ERA guy, it makes no sense to me to take starts away from Sheets and the others to give them to Vargas. I'd like to see the best pitchers in the rotation get more starts than the worst one. I don't see any reason to worry about Sheets and Bush, but I am worried about the extra leash they are going to give Vargas when he turns back into a pumpkin.
  21. I'm looking forward to skipping the 5th starter again like the good old days.
  22. I'm not going to rip a one day lineup, even one that has Gwynn and Graffanino batting 1-2. I'd only be mad if Gwynn leading off or Graffy hitting second became a regular occurence.
  23. Somewhere just above Jack Wilson and behind Alex gonzales. I'd probably put him a little below Yuniesky Betancourt and Adam Everett. Both of those guys make everyone else look like chumps. Hardy's a top five defensive SS in the league right now.
  24. Phil Hughes is coming up on Thursday, too. Igawa's probably in danger of losing that spot once the rest of the rotation gets healthy.
