  1. A bit surprised Ned went with Turnbow this inning (8th)...if they don't get the lead in the bottom half, will Derrick pitch a second inning, or will Cordero come in for his 5th consecutive appearance (in what would be a non-save opportunity)? I think Villanueva is the logical choice. Just have him go the rest of the way.
  2. There goes the hitting streak, provided there's not extras.
  3. Damn. I knew Lopez was going to start to hit, but why did he have to pick this series?
  4. it looks like Yost wants to send a message to Gabe And hopefully a message to Mench: "Yeah, this starting against righties thing was somewhat fun while it lasted, but it's over."
  5. His OBPs have beeen amazing the two season. And call me crazy, but he would be a nice guy to put in the leadoff spot every once in a while. Garner had him there this past weekend for one game. I don't think he can play the OF, though. But Braun definitely can.
  6. I'd love to have Ensberg. Can never have too many guys that have had a .388 and .396 OBP the last two years. He'd have one arby year left, so if they felt like it they could move Braun to the OF next spring to replace the Menchkins tandem. I just don't see how anyone can assume Braun is going to come up and be able to do that. Far fewer rookies are great in their first season than what is commonly believed. Look at Weeks. He destroyed AAA just like Braun is, and he sits with 850 AB's and a .755 OPS for his career. Alex Gordon's got a sub-.600 OPS so far, and he's ridiculously talented.
  7. Honestly, I expect them to sweep this series. I'd be disappointed if they didn't. The Nats are just so bad. I mean, come on - Jason Simontacchi?
  8. A rluzinski, #12,582 shirt might be in high demand You need to add those numbers that you can change. The ones that are like a spiral notebook, so you can always change the post count.
  9. Harden's 5'10", tops.
  10. Nice. This is getting to be pretty unreal.
  11. 94 pitches. Tough call, but I think you have to send him out against the Nats.
  12. I don't mind a game like that here and there, as long as Mench sits against most righties and Jenkins against most lefties I'm happy. Agreed. This isn't really the definition of a "tough" lefty, either. Plus, he needs some AB's against LHP, because the situation arises where he will face one in the early part of a game where Ned's not going to pull him for a PH.
  13. Bonds gets death threats, just like those two did. He's going through some pretty major stuff. Just because he used steroids doesn't mean the threat of death is less serious.
  14. Bonds is apparently going to get tonight off, the last I heard. That kind of sucks. I was looking forward to an evening with the Lincecum debut and watching Barry.
  15. Ben Hendrickson never threw 70+ AL innings and had an ERA under 3.50 before. Spurling's fine in low-leverage situations.
  16. Now that the tying run is in the on-deck circle, Cordero comes in. Saves are so silly.
  17. It's a four run lead. You should feel safe with any pitcher with that huge of a cushion.
  18. Because once you warm up Wise you might as well use him, because he's used up for the next night either way.
  19. Spurling's getting warmed up for goon duty, it looks like.
  20. Doumit was a catcher. I'm pretty sure that's why they sent Hardy to third on him earlier in the game.
  21. The guy you can see in the Packer pullover jacket when right handed batters are in the box looks like Tom Bergeron from AFV. Not exactly Jack Nicholson.
  22. Wow. That was a great throw. They had to run on a dude that is normally a catcher, just to test him out.
  23. as he's a short RH, which always have trouble adjusting upwards...there are exceptions like Oswalt, but there are also a ton of former top prospects who either flamed out or are now just middle relievers. Well, Rich Harden's a short RHP, too. I guess take that as you wish (i.e. has he actually also flamed out?).
