Hard to blame a guy for being injured, as well as his W-L record. They're both a lot of luck.
  2. brettac1
That's cool. If he leads them to the wild card I'd support the hell out of the guy and happily look like a moron.

It's one game. He's been a dreadful player for his whole career, and that holds a little more weight for me.
  4. brettac1
Too bad they have already reached the 3 run quota for tonight, or they could win.

It was cool that the StL fans booed Bell. Dude can't walk a foot on earth without getting booed. Serves him right.
  6. brettac1
    David Bell sucks at life.
  7. brettac1
    Mench Stench.
  8. brettac1
    Well, that's awesome.

Dude, re-read my posts on Davis, again. I was defending him - I guess I should have used sarcastic blue when I said "He sucks". I think he's fine.

That's too bad that the umpire decides he has to be the center of attention. It has been nice and quite on the Bonds front, though, he's been free to do his .950 OPS thing in peace. The same thing happened last week with Narron and whoever was umping last Saturday at MP. The guy initiated the screaming match. Obviously not an excuse for littering the field with trash, though.

It's just so self-defeating, really. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy - we have to "get this run in". Then they intentionally do the thing that makes scoring runs really, really difficult - make outs.
  12. brettac1
Hey, that's why it was so smart to give away that first out. Just idiotic. You have little to no offense to being with. Why are you giving away outs?
  13. brettac1
    Bunting with the lead. Lovely.
  14. brettac1
He hasn't sucked all season, though.
  15. brettac1
Man, how dare he give up runs to a good team! He sucks. He's pitched excellent tonight, I don't know what there is to complain about. Also, I don't think it's so much that he nibbles, it's that he suddenly doesn't get that pitch anymore. He still hits his spots, but it doesn't get chased or called as often as it used to.
  16. brettac1
It's cool. He's going to carry the Brewers to the Wild Card.
  17. brettac1
I think for some he was fine last week, but others (myself included) didn't see the logic behind batting him 4th against a pitcher who throws with his right hand. It makes no sense.

If the Brewers score 2+. I'll be pumped. I think what has happened is that the Brewers are doing a "Turn Back the Clock" promotion for the rest of the season. They're turning back the clock to the deadball era. This is what inspired the David Bell trade, I believe, as well as playing Tony Gwynn and not playing Corey Hart. It's just odd that they haven't announced this publicly to this point. But, it will become quite clear as the Brewers struggle to cross that magical 3 run mark game in and game out.
  19. brettac1
Well, real-life David Bell showed up.

I think part of it is Helton's declining power, and a total lack of power from anyone else on the team other than Holliday. Once guys like Tulo and Stewart make it up there, I'd guess you'll see HR back up where they were within 2 years or so. I think the number of HR hit there was blown out of proportion a little. Teams that have Helton, Walker, Bichette, Burks, Galarraga, etc. are going to mash a pretty fair amount of HRs. It is a pretty extreme hitter's environment, but the idea that every fly ball is going out is wrong.

Congrats to de la Rosa on an excellent start. Go Royals, finish off the Rangers.

Now I can die in peace - David Bell finally sports a barley sprig!!!
  25. brettac1
    Sweet.
