1. Lady Luck pays Victor a visit, finally he begins to regress.
2. I guess I see walk rate very important, because it indicates plate disipline; a skill many would say can't be improved upon very easily. It also is very unlikely to fluctuate the way hits do, as well. And plate discipline isn't a learned skill, it's something a hitter either has or doesn't have. I agree with your "theory" rluz, it's pretty cut and dried.
3. Nice article from Huntsville Times but I'm not sure they are correct on the promotion of Delmon Young. It was my understanding he was moved to AAA, not Tampa. He's in Durham.
4. I can't fault Ned for that. Huh? He gave up an out to play for one run in the 3rd inning! Why give up an out in any situation, let alone the 3rd?
5. Stupid bunts, again. What was the point?
6. I'd prefer that he quit putting so many runners on base to attempt to pick off. That's going to catch up with him, especially with his HR rate.
7. I went last night, and started the game thread. That is definitely good karma. Chalk this one up.
8. Since I'll be lucky enough to be able to attend this game (Sec. 117, Row 9), I figured I'd start the thread. This looks to be the best pitching match-up of the season to this point, and figures to be a dandy. Thanks to rluz, from yesterday's Game Thread: SERIES PROBABLES Friday (7:05 PM) REC. 9. Phew, it was good to see Branyan smile and say he's alright. That was scary.
10. And, you've got to love Branyan's sweet beard. He has to keep that.
11. I have a feeling that Bad Cappy is on the mound today. He's always walking between raindrops, his peripherals say that he may collapse.
12. You'd have been right on that one, though.
13. I had him until he got hurt, then some idiot dropped David Wright.
14. HOFFY, it's nothing personal man. I just think you overreact and don't look at the big picture enough. This team will soon be good enough that we can maybe look past sheer talent as a reason for a defeat (or even a victory, like tonight), but right now that seems to stick out to me as a reasonable explanation. I just think some around here, myself included at times, dig a little too deep and overanalyze things that are staring us in the face as a fanbase. Just cool it, and look at the season as a whole rather than every game individually, because it is way too long of a season to spend so much time analyzing decision after decision and AB after AB.
15. Even if the struggling relievers had given up 4 or 5 runs, you LEARN something from that. You learn, 'oh, my those guys are really not cutting it'. But Ned learned nothing, confused his players, and caused panic. Where's the nearest bridge? HOFFY, you use a different unprovable hypothesis every night, and always jump to the farthest possible conclusion. It's ridiculous.
16. That may be because he didn't pitch the entire inning, I'm not sure though. EDIT: Nightwing is right. If he comes in with a three-run lead and to start the inning, and pitches a complete inning he gets a save. In any non-complete inning situation, the tying run needs to be on deck for the save to be in order.
17. Is there any clue if this game will resume? I'm totally cool with it ending now, but I would at least like to see Russ finish his AB before they call it.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/happy.gif http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
18. Those 10 rookies on the roster "know how to win", already?
19. Well, at least Branyan's in the lineup. That rules. The Weather Channel says only a 30% chance for rain tonight in the ATL, 60% tomorrow, though.
20. I think he's sorry because he had to remind everyone that there's a game tonight.
21. Rod Carew was the hitting coach, right? That worked out real well. He was hailed as a great hitting coach when he was with Anaheim, because he was dealing with good hitters like Edmonds, Salmon, etc. He then promptly came to the Brewers and sucked tremendously. Hitting coaches are hired to be fired, and while they hold their jobs they are lightning-rods for criticism from people like yourself, and are hired because they are buddies with the manager and they are figureheads. Who is a good hitting coach, anyway? I'd like it to be Rob Deer when the time comes that Wynegar is fired, but maybe that's just me.
22. Jenkins had a .900 OPS season in 2003 with Butch. Age is why Jenkins sucks, not Wynegar. And Bill Hall hasn't improved that much. Hitters are what they are, and no hitting coach is going to stop players like Jenkins and Hall hacking approach at the plate. That's just how it is. Jenkins has always swung at pitches in the dirt, no matter who the coach was, be it Jackson, Lefebvre, Carew, or anyone. EDIT: And Wynegar didn't "suck" as a hitter. He was pretty good. He won ROY, walked a ton, made a couple All-Star teams, and posted a career line of .255/.348/.347, with a 626/428 BB/K ratio. He also posted an OPS+ of 100 or more in six different seasons, and a 93 mark for his career, meaning he was a little below average.
23. That is easily the thing I *hate* the most. It's the worst.
