  1. Deep down, I'm excited to see him get a legitimate chance to play at the MLB level. I expect him to take the ball and run with it.
  2. Exactly. They really hurt him at the Rumble. I was really hoping they would give him a clean win over Orton last night, but of course they let him hit his finish and have Orton kick out of it instead. Now, they can shoehorn a 40 year old part-timer who has never drawn money at the top of the card into a feud with the champion, but not push Ziggler to the moon. Pretty standard WWE, really. I don't get how they don't realize that all bringing back the old guys does is show how crappy the current product is. I mean, they couldn't even have a real Royal Rumble. It's because they cut guys off at the knees or abort their pushes.
  3. If Stephanie comes back, I would be cool with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDDgQPj7rlg
  4. D&H definitely sounds like a fun idea.
  5. Also, I have had a change of opinion about a Foley/Ziggler match at Mania after watching the way Foley was hobbling around last night. It was painful.
  6. One thing that really struck me is that Jericho got pretty much zero heel heat for tossing Orton in his hometown. I would think that was the idea behind having him eliminate him, but it got nothing. Whatever Jericho is doing certainly doesn't seem to be getting over at this point. He needs to cut a promo tonight to get some focus on the situation.
  7. Yeah, this was pretty atrocious. I didn't mind the Rumble match itself all that much, aside from how backloaded it was. It really drove home how few top guys they have when they almost all came in toward the end.
  8. Sweet, that was definitely the end of the world...
  9. Yeah, this was awful until Punk vs Ziggler. The crowd was just dead. And even Punk vs Ziggler felt like a Raw match.
  10. He got death threats for stuff that happened in a football game. That's absolutely ludicrous.
  11. I don't think there is anything wrong with tweeting stuff like "Stephen Jackson sucks", but when its "@DaTrillStak5 sucks", it crosses a line. I don't look at it as a "would you say it to his face?" situation, but a "would you text him that?" situation, since I think that's a more appropriate analogy when it comes to Twitter. We are still quite early in the whole social media interactions with athletes era, but it strikes a nerve when a guy is called out personally. It really bothered me to see the kind of stuff that people directed at Packers players this year, especially in the losses.
  12. Yeah, I think those guys were just really great at their jobs. LaRussa was the master of putting his players in position to succeed.
  13. I'm fine with not having to see any bad SS play all year. Maybe the front office thought that way, too. I think Theriot is mostly awful, so I'd prefer to have a guy like Izturis anyhow.
  14. I hope he can get back into the heel role quickly, because he will of course get a babyface pop just for coming back.
  15. Wasn't that one of his catchphrases when he couldn't beat Orton during the summer?
  16. Yeah, don't know what I was thinking there. I do still hate that there is a February PPV, though. I'm a much bigger fan of the idea of the guy wins the Rumble and then he and the champ feud until Mania. Now, you give five other guys a title shot in front of the actual number one contender. It's backwards to me.
  17. I also hope they keep Jericho away from Punk until Mania if that's the feud. It cheapens Mania when you already have them together. They don't need to be in a gimmick match together.
  18. UWF/Mid-South is such fantastic wrestling. Especially compared to the WWF from that era, which is like 95% garbage, aside from Savage and Steamboat. Bill Watts was a genius booker. The old NWA/Jim Crockett promotions was also really amazing in that era. They had a red hot product in the mid-80's. I'm only 27, but thanks to the internet, I have been able to see hours and hours of that era of wrestling. I also remember Global. Jerry Lynn and Sean Waltman are two personal favorites.
  19. I'm fine with Ziggler losing as long as they book him to look strong and as a peer to Punk, since that should be their main event program come Summerslam time. I'll be angry if they make him out as just a pawn in Laurinitis' game or, worse yet, a part of a conspiracy involving Stephanie/Jericho/Laurinitis or something. I just think his growth as an inevitable main eventer (which I believe him to be) gets stunted if he looks like he needs help to win. If they do decide to go with a Punk/Jericho storyline, I hope that Ziggler remains at least on Punk's radar so he doesn't get shuttled down the card and become irrelevant. There is such a massive lack of depth of talent at the top of the card, though, that it could happen easily. I'd prefer to see him just get taken off of TV for a month before kicking off the likely Foley feud rather than have him feud with a jobber until March.
  20. I think Pat Burrell is all but retired.
  21. Ariel Helwani is a wrestling fan, though. I know he was at Survivor Series last year.
  22. I think it's also possible he was working in that interview. He's a wrestler, they're always working.
  23. I think they wanted someone who can play a good SS on the bench, rather than Theriot.
  24. Holiday has been pretty durable for most of his career.
