  1. Greinke has a legit shot at 200 K's after missing a month. That is amazing.
  2. It almost sounds as if Reed Johnson was involved. Or Prince Fielder.
  3. In reality, though, Carroll and Barmes have to be about all that's out there that's worth anything at the moment.
  4. "A lot of ground" for Prince: a step and a half, followed by a belly flop.
  5. With the infield in why go on contact? Exactly. It makes zero sense. Just like how many times they have bunted in the 1st inning.
  6. Yeah, I was being sarcastic... Just throwing out the first old scrappy white guy that came to mind.
  7. Might as well get the ball rolling... Jeff Keppinger or something?
  8. There any other middle IF's out there that are around 35 that Roenicke has a passing acquaintance with? There's your 2B.
  9. Well, add 2B to the list of needs at the deadline. Great.
  10. Teams are catching on that he's been straight hacking all year. He needs to start working counts.
  11. Is Mark Concannon hosting an '80s local TV morning show? Yikes, he is awful.
  12. I doubt it... they had a good year two seasons ago and he is a former exec of the year. That said, I would hope the Brewers would instantly give him his old job back if the M's were dumb enough to fire him.
  13. Thornton is not flat out garbage. He's actually been really really good. This year, I'd say just good, but part of that was being miscast as a closer. His 2008-2010 numbers are pretty awesome. And he's lefthanded. He'd make our bullpen extremely nasty. Rios probably is garbage, but he's a good CF with speed and has hit and hit very well in the past. Now, the $ involved obviously would make this a terrible deal on the surface, but if CWS picks up, say, $40M I wouldn't be too displeased. I'm not high on Gamel really though, so that certainly is part of it for me. I also can't see CWS picking up that much money. Trading our future 1B who is raking in the Minors for two 30+ year old players with bad contracts is the epitome of flat out garbage. Thornton is owed $12MM over the next two seasons. Rios $39MM over the next three. Those are awful numbers. Now, like you said $40MM of the $51MM, yeah I could do that but I doubt they cover that much. Having said all that, I wouldn't mind adding Thornton and/or Rios to be honest with you. However, trading Gamel for these players seems like such an extraordinary overpay to me on the surface. I'm not opposed to trading Gamel but there has to be other teams out there who will deal less expensive, quality players at positions of need (SS/3B) rather than someone to serve as a backup and a relief pitcher. Right. They are creating a... hole (sorry, this got censored) for next year, all the while not even filling one this year. It makes no sense whatsoever, unless RR just refuses to play any young players, in which case he should be fired.
  14. This is horrible. I seriously hope it's only rumor.
  15. Since the break he's hitting .220/.319/.439/.758. A player like Weeks will have quite a few stretches like that in spans of ~50 PA's. .220 .319 .488 .807 Corey's stats since the break. He's been slightly better than Weeks, but yet there's a few posts a night complaining about how he's slowed down or been bad this year and nothing about Rickie. Neither one has been that bad.
  16. Yeah, he has to be on the list.
  17. He hasn't been that bad. He had a couple bad games in a row now, but he's had a handful of multi-hit games off the top of my head since the break. Not to mention winning one game with a bomb.
  18. No doubt. I like Hawk, but Saito is a far better pitcher.
  19. I despise Buck and McCarver... but I love the auto-tune commercial.
  20. If the Cubs "build their team" around Barney, that would be awesome for the Brewers.
