  1. YES!!! Made my night (sad). And to top it off, Gwynn is going down. Score one for the good guys.
  2. I see Todd Rundgren is playing that night, too. I have "Something/Anything?" which I still consider a classic album. I don't have a great desire to see him, though. I do want to see the Old 97's, though, and it's tough to beat the price, coupled with the fact that it's the closest to me that a band I actually want to see will ever play (usually). "Blame It On Gravity" sounds closer to their earlier stuff. Nothing can match "Too Far To Care", because that is a fantastic album, but it's more along those lines than the stuff that followed it that was more mellow. I think it's pretty much being called a return to form.
  3. Personal loyalty like that is a good way to lose baseball games.
  4. I wouldn't care if he was still good, but he sucks now, and he's a jerk. Not really any point.
  5. Yeah, definitely. My plans should clear up pretty quickly on it, but like I said, I am pretty sure I'm going. Do those Waterfest shows usually draw big crowds? You like the new Old 97's album, RyDogg?
  6. This season is starting to remind of that season a few years ago when we had guys like that garbageman Joe Winklesas pitching for us. I am bummed that I made the "DiFeliceelsas" remark and it got nothing. That was what I was saying, though. Things are tough all over.
  7. I agree with the title of the thread. However, I don't feel Rivera's numbers justify anything more than a couple starts a month, either. Like others have said, it's just the nature of catchers.
  8. Saying that he's a .260 hitter with 25 HR's is new, though. I think that's what he was referring to - if he was, I agree with him.
  9. I wouldn't mind seeing DiFeliceelsas sent back down and Pena up, myself.
  10. Ugh. I'd rather just hope that Hall gets hot playing everyday than platoon him with Counsell. Russ needs a freein'.
  11. Actually, I'm going to see them in Oshkosh instead, since that is only a little over an hour from my house. I'm only making the three hour trip to Milwaukee once, and that's for (mainly) DBT. RayKings - you should drop me a line if you do wind up going there. I'm sure there will some other Nine Bullets people there, too. I'll definitely be cozying up between the monitors by Cooley.
  12. Can't wait for the Harley stage on July 3rd. Finally a day at Summerfest that's actually worth going to. Drive-By Truckers Paul Thorn Alejandro Escovedo Lucinda Williams NICE.
  13. Man, the Burnitz trade still makes me mad.
  14. a) He's not a leader because he doesn't walk -- has anyone seen his recent performances? I didn't say that. I have no idea where you pulled that from.
  15. I think Brad Nelson would be a good compromise, even with as much as I heart Russell.
  16. You may not like what he had to say, but to make the leap that he thinks has nothing to improve on is sort of odd. I don't think it was that much of a leap.
  17. Oh yeah. I'm an idiot. But the point about him being independently wealthy still stands.
  18. Yes. I guess I was implying that. I just in general don't see the big deal about the guy spewing cliches with reckless abandon.
  19. Davey Johnson has no interest in managing, or he'd have a job. He's independently wealthy through his wife (Nancy Lopez), so he just retired.
  20. Wait... taking walks/OBP counts as a "facet", right?
  21. Add the DH to the NL, then nobody has an unfair advantage and we don't have to watch Ben Sheets hit. Pitchers don't have the time to properly train to be hitters and there is no reason to send them out there other than people clinging to the notion "this is how it is supposed to be". Definitely would be my solution, too.
  22. They have an unfair advantage in the front office and talent acquistion departments.
  23. I can't believe that Tony Gwynn Jr. was a DH. That's embarassing. Worse than using Jose Vidro as your DH, or something. I'm all for getting a good player to replace Kapler, too.
  24. The Brewers shouldn't have an interest in keeping Fielder when he hits FA, anyhow. Guys like him just don't age well, and like Toby said, they have replacements on the cusp. Braun, on the other hand, is a great athlete who can run, etc. and has a broader skillset than Fielder and will age gracefully. I just hope he learns how to take a walk once in a while.
