  1. Yeah, I agree with Pogo (and I was one of the people crying loudest to sign him in the offseason). He's cooked.
  2. The Mets DFA'd Robinson Cancel. He got 1 AB on June 6th, his first in MLB since 1999.
  3. When does the meat man pick him up and take him to Mexico?
  4. McClung without a hesitation. Not to say he's great, but at least he's not Jeff Weaver.
  5. I disagree that Kapler has become a favorite, especially around here. Maybe as a bench guy, but most people are able to look at thousands of AB's of mediocrity and say "Hey. Wait a minute, this guy is pretty bad at hitting baseballs with authority". The whole notion of playing the hot hand just reeks of desperation, especially when there's no need for it. We experienced the same idiocy last year when Yost trotted out a horrible hitter like Gwynn because he was "hot" and Hart rode the pine and went down to Nashville.
  6. I think I like the way the playing time is distributed now. Cameron will get hot.
  7. Chase Utley is the best player in the National League. I'll go with him.
  8. Yeah, he doesn't swing at a lot of bad pitches, either. He's just pretty bad at making contact. I would say Dunn has a great swing and suffers from the same problem, as well.
  9. That few seconds tonight was why Russell Branyan rules. It's as simple as seeing that sweet swing connect and instantly shouting out a string of profanities. That is life in a nutshell.
  10. Was he wearing Brut? I would totally expect him to be. Or maybe Old Spice?
  11. Torres has just been a godsend. In general, I just prefer to ride the wave of hot streaks, like Brian said. Unless it's three lefties in a row or something, then use Shouse. So, I guess a combination of matchups and recent performance (though it not very predictive as far as relievers go).
  12. I was kind of confused with Schroeder's comments myself. I thought sending a runner while someone like Fielder is up went against conventional wisdom. I'm pretty sure that Prince has also said that he doesn't really like the runners moving while he's hitting, it distracts him.
  13. Well, they sent the right guy down. I'll take solace in that.
  14. They didn't have anyone to replace them with. Counsell?
  15. Branyan had a bad AB there, no doubt about it. I honestly was suprised that the Nats didn't walk him, though. Not sure why Hart bunted, either, but Kapler bailed out both of them.
  16. Yeah, if he was as good defensively as Ozzie Smith, I think an exception would be made. He's not, though. I think he's more like a "Rey Ordonez type".
  17. Because they're playing for more than one run.
  18. Well, I don't think Bill Hall's title includes anything about being a personnel consultant, so he probably should shut up.
  19. He is better than Zack Jackson Yeah, that's a silver lining. But I'm sure they'll want to keep the stupid two LHP thing. I mean, Shouse has just been overworked lately! He's almost got 16 IP this season!
  20. I agree with the concerns over Escobar. I don't think he can hit enough to be an everyday starter. I feel the same way about Tropical Depression. Slap hitters don't work.
  21. What the heck is normal?
  22. They would be crazy to do that. You might get one of those guys, but it ain't gonna be Kershaw.
  23. That home opener, outside of the Sheets 18 K game, was the greatest thing I have ever seen in person. Hitting a bomb off your name on the scoreboard must be a pretty cool feeling.
