  1. Yeah. This pretty much is the definition of unbelievable.
  2. Well, Big Game is off to a smashing start.
  3. I agree, I was just saying could they platoon in regards to the unsung hero thing. Of all people, FTJ, I would have expected you to get that I was joking. I am worried about what happens with McClung when he gets in to triple digit IP.
  4. To me, it is a no-brainer, Seth McClung is our unsung hero. He has pitched well (relatively speaking) in every place that the Brewers have put him in, bullpen or rotation. He definitely allowed the Brewers to tread water and stepped up his game. If the Brewers maintain 1st place and they start getting more national attention, I suspect Seth's effort will be overlooked for the most part. Can he platoon with Bush? Because he's been excellent for quite a while now, too, but for the most part the average fans and stuff still expect him to pitch poorly. His ERA has been under 4.00 since the start of May, but people still think he sucks.
  5. I guess my point was that he wasn't beating himself like he was earlier in the season by walking a bunch of guys. He was wild in the zone that night against the Reds, which I think is excusable from being rusty and stuff. I'm in the same boat, re: defending him. I guess I defend the move more than Gagne himself - I still think it was a risk worth taking and not that bad of a deal. Just didn't work out like everyone would have wanted. If he becomes the set-up guy, then I think it still does come out as a good move. But yeah, if you weren't running him out of town because of four bad innings, then you can't hail him as being back because of four good ones. Doesn't work that way, for sure.
  6. Even in that brutal game, I believe he threw 22 out of 27 pitches for strikes. He has looked better, though it is hard to look worse than he did earlier in the season.
  7. I like how a 100 foot blooper is an "ambush".
  8. Alright. Enough of the feel good story of the summer. Can Ned put the guy who can hit RHP better than my grandma back in the lineup?
  9. I'll go with Cameron.
  10. Well, even though they only got one run, that was a nice inning.
  11. 20 K and 0 BB for Bush in his last 16 IP and we decide to sit him for 3 weeks. Just baffling. Agreed X 1 million. The lack of walks for Hart has been unsettling all season. I don't care what position in the lineup a guy is written in, that doesn't mean that the guy should hack away at sliders 6 inches off the plate all the time.
  12. He's from WI. That's about it. This is the starting pitcher version of the Jack Taschner rumors.
  13. Alejandro Escovedo's new disc has really grown on me... moved into my favorites of the year... wish I had been there to see him at Summerfest... Man, he was SO great. And yeah, "Real Animal" is probably in my top 10 now, too. He's a treasure.
  14. Yeah, that's probably my new #3. Great album, like always from them.
  15. I can't hang this on Wade -- iirc the owner (McLane) is the one that's been pushing for things like signing Lee, getting Tejada. Exactly. Hunsicker left the Astros a few years ago for that very reason. He is an excellent GM - and guess where he is now? Senior VP, Baseball Operations with the Rays. Part of why I'm not too surprised by their improvement.
  16. The thing is that the A's aren't necessarily motivated to move him unless they get a terrific offer. They can hold onto him into the offseason or even the deadline next year and still get a great package for him provided he stays healthy. Long story short, no one is going to get him for cheap.
  17. I will go with Rauch, too. Gillespie and Salome to Washington.
  18. No, but I was just pointing out that someone does get more walks than hits.
  19. I think how poorly Street has pitched lately, coupled with what will likely be a too-rich price tag, the Brewers will go in a different direction.
  20. No one gets more walks than hits. Jack Cust 2007: 105 BB, 101 H 2008: 69 BB, 68 H
  21. Excellent. I would assume the Giants pick up a good portion of the salary, then.
  22. Time to drop the S-bomb. Let's hope the 'stros can do the same.
  23. If they want Salome, we should want Cain. Seems like a larger deal might be feasible. Sabean can't be that dumb, can he? To trade Cain for Salome? The guy is one of the best young pitchers in baseball.
