  1. Good for him. The booing he got at the opener in 2005 was the worst thing I have ever seen at a Brewers game. Felt terrible for the guy.
  2. People who rip every move Ted Thompson makes and think he's an idiot when pretty much all he has is a record of success.
  3. I think he is "dry erased" for that start. That's easier to get rid of than pencil is.
  4. Yeah, Zach Jackson is bad. Eveland was a little fat and had some bad games in limited big league exposure. The guy dominated AAA in his first attempt at it, and you don't do that as a fluke. Jackson has basically been mediocre in AAA since getting there. Heavy D obviously isn't this good, but I think he'll be a middle of the rotation starter in MLB for a long time. Jackson figures to be a reliever if he ever sticks in the bigs.
  5. The point is that it certainly could have hurt the Brewers. Because of the short bench, Yost was forced to go with a player less likely to suceed than one he would have used (Dillon, I would guess?) in a crucial situation. Just because it ended up not costing them a game doesn't mean that it's optimal, or even not bad.
  6. Right, but there's no way that Yost pinch hits Counsell in that spot if he has the full complement of bench players. EDIT: And certainly no way he lets Mike Rivera touch a bat on anything other than a day game after a night game.
  7. It's not even borderline absurd. It's flat-out absurd. I'll always say that even 12 is pushing it in April with all the off days. It should be essentially a 4 man rotation and a 7 man pen in April, IMO. I'll cede ground on 12, but 13 or especially 14 is nuts.
  8. Also, they should start planning for when Gabe Kapler starts to hit like Gabe Kapler again (probably already has begun that). In which case they are going to need to find another bench bat. Possible that they could just replace him with Dillon when they decide they need to make that move, though.
  9. Terrific news! Obvious that the move for Cameron would be Sheets to the DL retro to the injury, so that's a silver lining.
  10. Was it Charles Oakley that said like half the league smoked? But, yeah, I'd bet that it's the same as in the general population.
  11. Yeah, I don't really see the big deal at all.
  12. Didn't Hart do a chat like last week where he said that Braun is as cocky as it seems? But that his cockiness is funny, or something?
  13. That said, the Brewers are short a lefthanded bat now. A lefthanded bat that can take a walk, on a team with an awful OBP, and provide a little bit of power as they now have zero power on the bench from the left side. I know one in Nashville. Yeah. I'm calling for it already. It's time.
  14. Too much stock in pinch-hitting stats? That's all he'd do the rest of the year once Cameron comes back. Unless someone gets hurt, in which case you're stuck with Kapler, who has been absolutely terrible/out of baseball for the past six years and has had a good half month in 2008, or Gwynn, who is ideally a pinch-runner/defensive replacement.
  15. Of course he gets traded when he finally starts heating up. One down, one to turnbow. It's April 22nd, and we're using "finally" already? Jeez. Never understood the dislike that people have had for Gross. The guy's a good player, especially when he gets consistent PT. It's no coincidence that once he got to settle in for a while he started to hit.
  16. Yeah, he's having bad luck on ball/strike calls right now. I'm just not going to get that worried when the guy is still having good AB's and running deep counts. The guy to be concerned about is Braun and his tee-ball like approach at the plate.
  17. I'm not sure what Redd fetches in a trade, though. They should probably be looking for some expiring contracts. It's definitely a couple year job, if not more.
  18. Q: Mark of Kimberly - Is Gabe Gross the worst major leaguer you have ever seen? A: Brewers Mailbag - Perhaps you have forgotten Enrique Cruz. Or Chris Barnwell. Or... Let's just say this: no. Why even bother answering garbage like that?
  19. I was pulling for Larry Brown or Carlisle, but Skiles might work. It's much more of a personnel problem than a coaching one, anyway.
  20. It's a good album. It leaked about a month back, and then in really good quality last week. It's not typically my type of music, but I'm a fan of most of their stuff. Beth Gibbons is a mindblower.
