  1. I'd settle for one of three...split with Cincy and come home healthy. Not asking for much this trip.
  2. I absolutely love Augie. My all-time favorite Brewer. He can do no wrong in my eyes (or to my ears). Hearing that big Wisconsin accent is music to my homesick ears. I record the Brewers Live just to hear him. Bah humbug to the rest of you.
  3. Spahn played a long time in Boston...not sure he made it to Atlanta. Wasn't he with this Mets by then?
  4. Still over .500, played more games on road to start year, run differential ok. Maybe the last series stunk or they aren't passing the eye test, but they are probably within a game of where they should be to win the division as expected.
  5. How long before they hear Gomez' appeal? They have an off day on Thursday so could it be then...still would overlap with Maldy this weekend. Hopefully they can put it off until after the Cards series.
  6. I agree WTP...Block is better, but we've had far better guys in that chair over the years including Corey. I'd try for an upgrade if they could. I wonder if opinions of Lepay depend on if you're a Badgers fan or not. I fully admit my Lepay bias with my Rose (Bowl) colored glasses. I love the guy. I'd be interested in the opinions of the non-Badgers fans out there what they think of Matt. Does the Marquette crowd have the opposite view of Matt since he is a Badger guy? Just curious.
  7. RRR is not perfect and many (including me) have been critical of his over-managing in the past. A couple things do stick out in how well he's done post-the 2011 run. 1) Keeping the morale of the team up through the Braun stuff and last year's implosion. The team seems to have a decent vibe (winning will do that) and his demeanor plays a role in that. 2) Moving Henderson down in the 'pen for K-Rod. This is a move he doesn't make a couple years ago. It was obvious Henderson was scuffling. Henderson wasn't happy about the move but he did what was best for the team and moved him into lower leverage situations while he figured it out. As his velocity returns, my guess is he'll be fine. He's getting it back without costing us games. Kudos to RRR for being proactive.
  8. Not sure if there is a more recent thread on Matt Lepay, but I thought he was terrific this weekend. He was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Also seemed to have a good rapport with Rock. I'm a big BA fan, but Matt is one heckuva sub. Way better than Coshun...he's far better suited for the anchor chair on Brewers Live than the PBP booth. Well done Matt!!!
  9. They must be getting Maldy a quick start before the suspension.
  10. If he runs hard out of the box he probably can make the turn at third and look rather than dive head first for a close play. If they screw up a throw back into the infield he has a shot to score. That's my only fault with Gomez on the play...he needs to be running hard out of the box. If he improves his chance of scoring from zero to 25%, that's huge. The other unwritten rules garbage is just that. Too much testosterone looking for an outlet. Gomez has always been flashy, but outside of last year against the Braves he's been fairly harmless. I like him because he brings enthusiasm to the game and is a positive guy. He's not looking to to show guys up, he just plays with passion.
  11. I love the retros, but I also like the current unis. I have jerseys and hats of both. Can't go wrong with either. I also wouldn't mind seeing the old early 70's jersey be a retro jersey once in a while. Only problem with those is when I wear the hat people mistake it for Michigan. Love the Bears jerseys too. Anything but those late 90's MB and the current "gold" mustard puke thing is great with me. Don't quite get the love for those.
  12. Clubbies are cleaning those retros as we write...the beat goes on...
  13. Glad we have Shafer out there today...no way Khrush makes that play. edit...then again maybe Gomes does...he's probably shading a little more left with Davis out there vs. Shafer.
  14. It would have taken 5 minutes longer for a full on Clint Hurdle meltdown argument and him getting tossed. Replay rocks! Get the call right and move on.
  15. It wasn't that bad, Lucroy was totally fooled, without a perfect throw it would have worked. edit, OK not totally fooled, but should have probably pump faked and gotten Marte in a pickle Boy I don't know...looked like a low percentage move to me. You are correct though...it took 2 good throws.
  16. He's being placed on the 15 day DL as of today according to TH. That sucks...how close is Gorzo?
  17. That was my feeling also. Not automatic, but probably scores 2/3 of the time. I'd take that chance at this point in game. I don't think Davis is a moron either, but he should have been at second on the error and did screw that tag up. It will happen with young players.
  18. Most teams would love to have Rickie off the bench. He got the job done.
