  1. People thought the same things when housing prices were going up every year. The McCourts took out money to pay themselves instead of the players...look where that got them. Yes, they've made money on the increase in franchise value and probably some equity levered returns through debt paydown, but I doubt they've been insanely profitable. Given their payroll and revenue base, the margins are probably low. Mark A and the ownership group deserve a ton of credit for plowing the revenue back into the team and the fans in Milwaukee deserve a ton of credit for supporting the team. Everyone has done their share to put a winner on the field.
  2. Holliday got hit up and in 2 batters earlier...then Freese gets beaned. It was with the bases loaded, so not intentional, but was ugly. My guess is TLR doesn't throw at anyone right away, it's only the 3rd, but I'd bet he makes a point of lecturing reporters on why he was right after the game. In his mind this will prove his point about pitching up and in.
  3. Unlike the other teams in the division, the Bucs had a tough stretch waiting for them on their schedule. It's been a great story, but they had a favorable schedule early. To their credit, they are a better team than anyone thought and they've played well...especially the pitching, but .500 is their bogey. The Reds remind me of the last couple of Brewers teams...some select talent, but injuries and a couple holes in the pitching staff keeping them from hitting full potential. I could see them passing one, but not both teams. The Cards & Brewers play each other a bunch...one could get hot. The Reds only have 3 each vs. those two. Tough for both to fade when they are playing each other and have a bunch of games vs. the dregs. I think it's Cards vs. the Brewers. The injury to Rickie & the Cards recent upgrades make these teams very even.
  4. I put this in the other thread, but agree this needs it's own. Here's one with a picture of Clayton... http://www.livinglakecoun...taffblogs/126744848.html Yay for Sussex!
  5. They found Clayton...the new Brewers rabbit foot! http://www.livinglakecoun...taffblogs/126744848.html Nothing but good things coming out of Sussex! More from Adam McCalvy, including the backstory on young Clayton's health issues... http://brewersbeat.mlblog...urns-bright-for-clayton/
  6. The vibe on this team is just awesome. Prince is havin' fun, Braun is just lovin' life and that crazy cousin T Plush is just some good kind of nuts.
  7. Pirates lose to Cubs and Reds down 5-3 in 9th...may get the Central trifecta tonight. A DUI for TLR would complete the cycle.
  8. Well played sir, well played. Dang, if we won last night it would give me an excuse to post a picture of my man Augie!
  9. Agreed...no reason to mess around. Get the win, kill the spread, go home.
  10. I'd almost like to see Counsell in here for one of those 15 pitch at bats...even if it ended with a weak pop up.
  11. I guess TLR got in someone's head last night...glad Yadi's suspension didn't start today. What a brutal game for him.
  12. Kotsay played ok when Braun was out, but really hasn't offered much off the bench.
  13. Been in and out today...has Rock been nicer to the Cards today after his scolding from TLR?
  14. Is it wrong I am keeping a meeting waiting outside for this inning to end?
  15. Haven't seen the opposite filed power from Casey in awhile...NICE!!!
  16. I'd love to see a Doorman v. TLR cagematch. That would end this nonsense quickly.
  17. Don't let him get in your head too Rock...keep callin' it like you see it! LaRussa's whole MO is to get in other team's head and intimidate them. He does it with other teams, managers and broadcasters alike. You wonder why all the St. Louis media are homers? Tony has either hand chosen them or driven them out. Only a few brave souls on talk radio who he can't touch will speak their mind. When he's gone they'll all have the guts to admit he's a jerk. It's like San Fran with Barry Bonds. Yeah they all cheered for him when he was there, but you don't see any Bonds jerseys in the stands. The key is to win games. You want to pay him back last night...then get Braun in and win. Don't get caught up in that crap like Yost did. TLR played him like a fiddle. RR needs to stay above the fray and just keep playing.
  18. Phew...may have been Ax's most impressive inning of the season.
  19. Have to give credit to TLR for going with Salas on the road in the 8th...most managers including our own wouldn't make that move.
