I'd disagree on Edmonds. He was playing well before his injury. He's also put a couple opposite field shots to the wall during that time including last night. I would agree that he's playing too much. He's not an everyday player anymore and if Gomez weren't hurt he'd probably get a few more days off. I wonder if his back is still barking. -

I just hope this had nothing to do with Braun, but if he's day to day and they don't want to push Edmonds, they will need another body for a couple weeks. -

As TLB mentioned in the other thread...huge post Marty. Also, in defense of Melvin for the Riske/Hawkins signings...those were very similar to the Solomon Torres signing. Without Torres, no way we make the playoffs in '08. Can't get 'em all right. -
Hats off to Macha for bullpen use today. I am all for bringing the best reliever in the highest leverage situation regardless of the inning...he did it today with Coffey. Also didn't push Narveson too hard. As well as he's pitched, he has shown a little wear around the 70-80 pitch mark...may take him a bit longer to go deeper. Enough of this silly Ned-Yostian he's my "x" inning guy. When it's close and we're facing the meat of the order, just bring in Coffey.

Hawkins didn't seem to have that issue in Spring Training, hopefully this solves itself and we don't have another Riske situation. We need a LOOGY up...glad we have Mitch back. Guess it was a matter of time before an injury hit. -

Had to sneak in and post...have a bunch of people over for a barbeque...they are all watching the Lakers. I saw the score and kept thinking of Dumb and Dumber...just when I gave up on them, in the last 5 games they've totally redeemed themselves!!!

I'd rather have Edmonds in CF than Gerut. He might be faster, but Edmonds takes the right angles and is reasonably solid out there.

So funny blingster...I do the same thing! Nice job by the bullpen tonight. Had to happen after starting a what's up with our bullpen thread. Back to even on the road trip...not bad considering how it started.

Be interesting to see who Macha goes with in this game. He probably PH for Villy next inning...does that mean 2 innings for Coffey? My guess is Hawkins is unavailable tonight.

I'm normally a fan of being aggressive about sending guys...one of the reasons I really like Sveum as the 3B coach, but 1 out with the big fella coming up may not be the time to do it. Can't be too harsh on Fisher here...who knows, Inglett may not have scored on the same wild pitch that Braun did.

They were playing trivia between innings at MP and asked a kid to identify the Brewer with the middle name Diego...of the 3 choices he named Edmonds...it was really Gerut. The IGT was all over it and it stuck and I haven't been able to get that "Go Diego Go" song out of my head since.

That was "Braun-esque". Completely misjudge the ball and take wrong angle, then make up for it with athletic ability. He'll wind up on SportsCenter while guys like Mike Cameron who make it look so easy never do. I miss Cam.

Checked the replay Gobias...looks like it barely made it over the head of a kid in a wheel chair...that could have been scary. I think it ricocheted off the trash bin right behind him. Can't blame the D-Backs either...I doubt there have been many balls hit that far out.

I'm with joe & barrelman...Gerut started to get it going late last year when he got more regular ABs. I'd give him a shot and see what he can do. I worry more about his glove in CF than his bat.
