  1. Can't...get...song...out...of...head... MLB Extra Innings only showing Rockies broadcast on DirecTV in LA. On channel 732, or 732-1 in HD. For those in Iowa, you may want to look into satellite. Maybe the blackouts aren't as bad.
  2. Pays for his salary through sales of pink #7 jerseys. Steady as they come in the field, streaky with pop at the plate.
  3. I'd love to drop Rickie in the order to 5 or 6. If he hits the way he did to open the season last year and generates the pop, he'd be better suited there. However, one game does not a season make. Both Gomez and Escobar could wind up in that slot at some point, but that's a great deal of pressure on those young guys. I think they are better off where they are for 2010. If they can raise that OBP and take advantage of their speed, they could wind up as better options at leadoff and maybe go 1/2.
  4. I can finally see Macha's plan...put Edmonds in lineup, let him stink, fans will begin to long for Corey and his stinky spring and arbitration memories will be long gone. You are so wise Ken...
  5. Nice to see we are starting off the season with the Brewer killer ump crew.
  6. Hope everyone enjoys Opening Day...I've got my Brewers t-shirt on under my suit! Can't wait to hear Uke this afternoon...Go Brewers!!!
  7. Jorge Julio...that was painful Maybe Franklin Stubbs...can't remember how he left, just glad he did.
  8. They announced today it is Lew Krausse & Jerry McNertney. That's a great touch. This is going to be a fun year with all the celebrations. The Brewers marketing department has really done a nice job since Mark A took over.
  9. 83-79. They probably gain more in pitching than they lost in offense, but I'm struggling to see who steps up to help Braun and Prince. Weeks is probably the best shot. Defense and bullpen are solid. The starters are greatly improved and should be a better bet to get more quality starts. That can get them to the pen in the 7th versus earlier which makes a big difference. We'll be closer to middle of the NL in ERA. The offense should take a step backwards. Braun & Prince are top 10 for MVP...I have hope, but little confidence in anyone else. We should be improved at Catcher (Kendall couldn't make the starting 9 for the bf.net softball team, but I guess that doesn't preclude him from starting 175 games for the Royals) and maybe RF (if they go with a platoon and get Edmonds some time), but worse at 3B (tough for Casey to repeat), 2B (it took Rickie awhile with this injury last time), SS (it will take awhile for for Escobar to develop the bat to go with the glove) and most notably CF (Cam was a big loss).
  10. I am probably the only one who thinks this, but I would start the year with Soup as the fifth starter. He has pitched closer to average when healthy over the last two years, but has worn down at times. He's likely of little use in the pen. I would ride him for awhile until he breaks down or is exceedingly ineffective. This conserves Parra and/or Narveson's innings and hopefully allows them to get in a groove...something Manny has struggled to do over the last couple years. We're going to need all 7 of them this year anyway. Soup doesn't bother me as much as a fifth starter, it's when he's a 2 or 3 that we're in trouble. If one of the other guys can beat him out of that fifth spot over time, more power to them.
  11. Prince's celebration was simply an ode to Milwaukee's storied yet tragic relationship with bowling...from canceling Laverne & Shirley to the untimely death of Earl Anthony finally culminating in losing the National Bowling Hall of Fame...it was more an emotional opera than cocky celebration. I'll bet Zito uses an 8 pound ball.
  12. Any listing where the 6 national games are? Also, any chance we lose more to Fox on Saturday? I hate those, I never get them in LA.
  13. I believe the AtBat and Audio were separate subscriptions. Both work great. Only problem with AtBat can be network/coverage issues. Make sure you are going to be in areas with decent 3G coverage. MLB.TV works great with a good internet connection, and I believe you get Audio with the subscription too. It worked great with my cable modem at home, off and on in hotels on the road. I plan on re-upping all of the above, along with Extra Innings on DirecTV.
  14. If the Brewers were ok with trading some of their best prospects for half a year of CC, why wouldn't they forgo a similar opportunity cost to hang onto Prince for a half a year in 2011? If they are in it at mid-year next season, my guess is he stays put and they just get a comp pick for him. I can't see them getting anywhere near fair value for him in a trade and they want to stay competitive.
  15. Corey Hart at $4.8 or Mike Cameron at $7.25...no brainer IMO...I'd take Cam in a heartbeat.
  16. I can't blame Hart or his agent. They played their hand and won within the rules. So be it. It is frustrating for most fans, myself included, to see a guy who has played so poorly over the last season and a half get rewarded. I hope he earns it. Reality is if he doesn't, he's going to hear about it big time. The question for the Brewers is if he's worth it? He seems replaceable to me, probably at a lower price. It's not a long term Suppan disaster, but they could probably do nearly as well for far less. I hope he plays well, but I'm skeptical. My guess is he ends the season splitting time, getting booed and is playing somewhere else in 2011. Hope I'm wrong.
  17. I don't understand this. If I were given the choice between a 100% chance of $45,000,000 or a 95% chance of $80,000,000, I would without a doubt take the $45,000,000. Perhaps Braun was smart enough to realize that once you get to a certain level of wealth, additional wealth does yield significant increases in quality of life.I agree. Furthermore, each person will have a difference, dollars-happiness curve, so how can another person judge what was right or wrong? It works both ways. One guy might feel he needs $10 mil, another might want $100 mil. Hey, whatever. This is America, right? Very true...each player has his own priorities which is well within their rights. I would also say hiring Boras as your agent sends a signal as to where your priorities are. I love Prince, but I doubt he leaves a penny on the table. That makes it a very tough decision for the Brewers whether they allocate that much money to one player.
  18. It would be nice if they had him come back to throw out a first pitch this year for their retro celebrations.
  19. Last year, anything closer to average for our starting pitching versus a historically bad year would have put us in contention. We should have close to middle of the pack starting pitching with a little depth, a good bullpen and equal defense by replacing our two best defenders with two solid gloves. The biggest question will be run production. The offense does not project to where we were last year. Waiting around for Ryan and Prince to carry the load won't completely cut it...someone else will need to step up and exceed pre-season expectations. There's not much depth there either. I wonder if we could pick up another bat ala Felipe Lopez before the season starts.
  20. I wonder if they'd be better with Bush and Soup as their 4/5 to start the year, moving Parra in as the year goes along. Somebody will get hurt or stink at some point, probably Suppan. Whatever needs to be done to get Manny's control in order will be a key if they want to go from an average rotation to slightly better. He's the one big upside guy that's yet to hit his stride on a consistent basis. Maybe taking some pressure off him early would do the trick. No reason Bush can't return to 2008 form. He was solid enough before the line drive against Florida last year.
  21. The main difference between McGwire & Bonds is that Bonds is and has always been a total jerk. For the most part, McGwire has been a genuinely nice guy to his teammates and fans. Unfortunately, other than that it's hard to see much difference.
  22. I'm a huge Jack Z fan, but having more dough to spend than Beane or Doug M helps. Not to mention having Kenji Johjima walk away from a huge contract gave them some surprise flexibility. That would be like Suppan deciding to retire before last season.
