  1. Ok, I don't know how long Melvin has been in office but let's look at our team compared to what it used to be. We are good now! Sure he's made some bad trades but haven't all the GM's in the league. Especially the lower market teams who can't buy all the studs they want? I feel like some Brewer fans expect that we are in the World Series ever year and that's not realistic. We can expect to be competitive each year, and that's what we've been. I feel like as soon as we started being competitive so many fans got greedy. I want this I want that, fire the head coach, fire melvin, Uecker is not a good announcer. Chilax! Start supporting our guys a little more. We aren't going to be consistent if we always want to get rid of coaches, gm's and so on. Look at the MN twins. They have had consistency in their front office and on the bench and that is why they tend to be good year in and year out. I might not love Macha but let's not call for his head after every little move that doesn't go perfectly. I bet if you sat in a room with him and had a conversation about baseball he'd blow al of you out of the water. So let's not pretend we are all baseball geniuses who know what every move should have been!
  2. The longer we we wait the more the price goes up but on the other hand do you want to extend a guy before he can prove he can play a whole year? I think because of injuries we will have bargaining power. I think we should extend him but part of me thinks we should see if he can stay healthy this year. Otherwise maybe do a shorter deal.
  3. Ya seriously, let's get off our high horse here a bit. Ueck is a legend and one of the all time greats. Sure he might screw up here and there but so does every other announcer. It's bound to happen over 162 games. I really think you should not be critical of him because he doesn't have a ton of time left doing this and when he's gone you will be wishing he was here. Brewer games will never be the same after he's done. He brings great comedy, stories, calls of the game. I stop breathing when I hear "Swing and a drive to left center and deep....!" If you don't have fun and the ability to tell stories during a baseball game it would be very dry and hard to listen too. It almost makes me sad to hear some of you get after him. Sometimes you need to think a little more before you write stuff on the web just to get a reaction.
  4. I live in Mnpls and am going to the game on Sat. Pretty excited and from everything I've seen and heard it looks like a winner. I love Miller Park and think it's great but a wide open stadium is much more pleasing on the eye. I'm interested to see how that effects attendance over the long run but I have to say I like that feel much more. It might not be practical but congrats on what looks like a great place.
  5. Way too early to pull this stuff out. First of all a pitching coach isn't a magician. He can't make a below average staff in to a top five staff. It's something that over time he can tweak but you can't make pete off the street in to a 4th starter. Give him a year or two and see what happens. (edited 4-14)
  6. Wow, when I read that I said to myself, "it's been good knowing you." There is no way we can give him that much money. I hate to say it but we need to trade him next year or if the price is right and we are out of the race maybe this trade deadline. I think us throwing some money at Weeks should now be the next move. I also agree, get Gamel working at 1B.
  7. Edmonds with another line drive out. Terrible game. I was really looking forward to us jumping out on the scrubs early.
  8. Painful but too early to pull the trigger on these guys. I still think that we use Parra and Narvy in situations like this. Stop the bleeding. We really could use a few runs here.
  9. Maybe with another tough(er) righty he wants to wait for Gomez to be in against a guy who will have more success with. But I can see Macha really having issues with Gomez at the plate. It's the complete opposite of what he likes.
  10. I'm not going to overreact but I am a bit nervous. I think he'll be fine, he is just getting his fastball up too much. I think he will get back to hitting his spots and getting more changeups in where he wants them. But I will be nervous until he has a few dominate closes. I still feel like Friday was fluke HR.
  11. I was a little worried about him when I saw him drop a curve ball on a third strike. It landed right in front of him but it should have easily been caught. What I thought of instantly is that this can really disrupt a pitcher. When you don't have confidence that your catcher can catch/stop a ball you tend not to be as aggressive on things like spiking a curve ball. I'm not roasting him at all either but just saying that a good catcher can really make a difference for a pitcher. A bad one can do the exact same, but the other way.
  12. I think the brewers are worried that if they release Soup and then someone gets injured then we could be in trouble in a hurry. By doing this they have options if people get hurt or struggle. I say mind as well give soup one last shot, if he falters have a quick trigger and figure out what to do with him then. If he gives us a chance to win every other game then we are ok. If he struggles early you have 2 guys that can come in a relieve him for several innings.
  13. If baseball was as simple as just going w the numbers we'd have computers as managers. I think you use numbers to help you but you have to go on the feel of the game and your players.
  14. Yes let's give Macha some praise here. I thought he did a great job with the pen and boy did they step up. The one thing I do like about having Soup as our 5th is that if any of our starters falter we have 3 guys that can jump in and go 3-4 innings. I feel like this could keep us in a lot of games. Now if Soup is the one getting pulled after 2 innings every start it's not worth it. I still get chills when I hear "Hhhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee struck him out!" in the 9th inning! Love hearing that. Good battle today and a great series win. That Rockies lineup is so tough. Go Crew!
  15. I just think us as brewer fans are way to programed to sit and wait for HR's. I think we need to play more small ball and it will be a growing process for us. I personally love it!
  16. wow this guy is the fasting working pitcher I've ever seen.
  17. WOW just turned this on, what the heck happened? I'm seeing a lot of talking of walks. This is dissapointing.
  18. Ya I'm not sure about that move either....... (Diego in the 5th) Can someone fill me in on what the strategy would be in doing that? I'm not figuring out a reason to justify him 5th and I'm all for Edmonds being in there against good righties. I'm glad Hart had a few good AB's last night and hope he continues to do so. I'm pretty pumped to see Kottaras in there. I'm also glad this is a day game because I don't know if I could stay up until 11 with DD pitching tonight http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  19. Thank You! Way too much overreacting going on http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Plus I think that Kotts is going to be an interesting guy this year. I'm excited to see him play and I think a combo of these two could be in the top half of offensive output for catchers. Remember people, you rarely get a guy playing that position that is a good to great batter. That's what makes Mauer so valuable. After two days I'm back on the Rickie train. I'm trying to keep my excitement down as much as possible.
  20. Good all around game. I'm happy with Wolf but just seemed like he never got in a "groove." But hey, he battled and only gave up 4. Hawkins looked great, bringing some cheese! Gomez is going to be all over the place people and he's not going to walk. I really hope the coaches work with him day in and day out so that he figures out some discipline. It would do wonders for his obp. I'm not expecting much though :-/ Good game crew! Can't wait for tomorrow.
