  1. Ya I'm not worried about fans charging the field, more that the umps would realize they screwed up and then have that in the back of their mind. I do think that managers and players would freak out more though if they saw the replay. But hey, maybe that will be cool because there will be more ejections!
  2. I'm curious of the stadiums you all have been to, which one is your favorite. Also, of the ones you've only seen on TV which ones would you love to catch a Brewers game at? I have not been to a ton of ballparks so I really can't give a ton on that topic. I do live in Minneapolis and do really like Target Field. On a nice summer day, it's pretty close to a perfect stadium. Great back drop, great surroundings, and quite a bit to explore. I know I might get lambasted for this but I really do like old stadiums and Wrigley was a blast for me. I know it's a peace of junk but when you are inside you can't help but feel the history of the place. At the top of my list for places to see are Fenway and San Fran. Fenway for the obvious reason of it being so historical. I also want to experience that fan base up close. I think it would be great. As for San Fran I feel like that stadium looks like a gem. So cool, down by the water, so much old ballpark feel to it. Seems like a great place to watch a game.
  3. The problem I see with baseball doing this is most calls in baseball on the base paths are out or safe calls, yes or no. Football and Basketball have a lot to do with opinions of the rules. Fouls, holding, PI, etc can be viewed so many different ways. If they show a replay, half the people will agree with the call, half won't so it's fine. If you show a replay of a guy who was called out, and he was clearly safe it will ignite the crowd and players/coaches. I just don't see it as working well in baseball. But as a fan I hate the lack of replays. I think they can do a better job of showing non close plays at least and maybe things like strike outs. Those to me are a matter of opinion similar to basketball and football calls.
  4. I too have always said it's gloomy in there, industrial, when everything is closed up. However, when the roof is open, or even if the pannels are open it's a completely different feeling. I really love the place when it's all open. I think when it's closed the green makes it so dingy. I'm not sure there is a whole lot you can do a bout it with still having the ability to open the pannels in the OF. But I'll take "industrial" warm and a big crowd any day over wet and cold and 10k fans.
  5. Not sure who said it but the comment was made that the Brewers should have signed him last year at this time. Sure that easy to say now but before last year he hadn't played a full season. You would have to have a crystal ball or huge juevos to sign a guy to a big extension that has had multiple wrist surgeries. I don't really think that's a fair statement unless the contract was all incentives.
  6. Man after reading that article today I had a lot of emotions go through my head. One I don't think you can fully pay him like he's been doing what he did last year every year. Then I thought, well he's supposed to be a stud, maybe he's worth it. Then I was nervous that we'd pay too much for him and he'd get hurt again! I'm almost leaning towards letting him play this season out and then work on the signing. If he has another killer year and stays healthy then he's probably worth it. If he has a lesser year or has injuries we can probably sign him at a discount....if we want to. If they are not budging off that top dollar amount then nothing is hurt by letting him prove he can do it again. All that said I really do want him on our team. Losing him and Prince would be tough.
  7. Nice link, nice video. Sounds like he's open to all the spots we talked about and just wants to help the club. It would be great if he was athletic enough to be avg at all 4 spots because then I say have him in the bigs and rotate him. He could get plenty of AB's that way. I'm just not confident he could handle all 4 spots.
  8. I'm dying to know what #2 was on your list...Hahaha, amazing!
  9. Good idea! I am almost always positive as a fan. Some fans expect a great team every year but I look at this as such an awesome opportunity to be a fan of a legit contender. I don't expect it every year and when it does happen I try to soak it all in. I think the biggest reason why is our rotation. Our offense has kept us a float for years now but it's a streaky offense. When it's hot, there is no stopping us, when it's cold, it can be really cold. We used to go on big losing streaks but now with this rotation we have 3 maybe 4 guys (when Wolf is pitching well) that can stop a losing streak by themselves. I think they will feed off each other, challenge each other, to stop these streaks or keep winning streaks going. There is nothing like good pitching to stop a skid. Our offense is flat out explosive. I think the stars are aligning for a majority of them to have great years. I've always enjoyed how they've supported each other and cheered for each other. I think we will see this even more this year. Lots of smiles, lots of laughs, lots of HR's. You know Miller Park will be buzzing! What a great fan base we have. This year will be nuts. We know from the get go we have the players to make a serious run. The fans will be nuts! I think management and ownership knows they have a special team and will make sure if we need a certain player to finish the puzzle they will go out and get him. I'm doing my best to temper my excitement at least until March......but it will be hard.
  10. I've found Axford, are there any other? Any MLB guys worth following?
  11. Invader, I would normally agree with that but I really think we have to go for it this year. So having Gamel on the roster really helps us out. Then when we get to 2012 we deal with where he plays. This can also give us a look at what postion/s he excels at. Besides the comment by Gamel that he really didn't enjoy the OF, has anyone talked about how he did at the corner spots? I have not seen anything on that. I think the other thing to look at too is who is better at first, him or Hart. As in which combo gives us the best overall defense (2012). I think having him on the roster could go either way for him mentally but I just think we need a guy like him on our roster if he can show he can play 4 spots. I really want his bat in the lineup in 2011.
  12. Man, our outfield would be terrible but I'd love to see that lineup with him in RF and Hart in CF. Not sure it's smart but it's fun to think about it.
  13. I'm not sure if there is a thread dedicated to this or a discussion going on but I just read a little blurb on the plans for him on the official site and thought I'd see what everyone here thinks. Where do you think he is to start the season? Do you see him playing a major role this year? I know some of us have talked about him playing RF and sliding Hart over to CF, but is that realistic? He's stated he doesn't enjoy the OF. I also think he will be our first basemen next year some I'm hesitant to move him for a year. I really want his bat in the lineup this year but I just don't know how it fits in. I'd hate to see him ride the pine in the bigs just for an occasional start or PH.
  14. I will def check out the German Brew Haus! Thanks for the tip. Ya I've heard the DT really doesn't have much for night life. There are some areas just out of DT that seem to be the happening places. But I don't think there is a ton of night life. Which is fine by me for the most part. Just as long as I can find a few good spots for the occasional night out. As soon as I saw I was moving I checked the schedule and saw that we opened there. I knew it was meant to be!!!
  15. I agree, I think he needs to be seen with our own eyes before we judge. I've just been worried about all the rumblings, so that's why I wanted to know if there was a better option out there. I agree, I think Doug will cut him loose if he under performs and bring someone in, but I'm up for seeing him him play.
  16. I think that's my feeling as well. If we are really going for it, why would we go in to the season with an iffy piece in the puzzle. If he was above average at the plate or with his glove and bad at the other, I'd be a little more at ease. It sounds like he's not good at either and that's what I'm worried about. There has to be something we can do for a year that can give us a better option. Who's out there? Rentaria still available?
  17. I've been going back and forth on what I think of him and how he fits with this team. Is he good enough to get by? Will he bring down a team that has many of the important pieces in order to make a serious run? Would we be better off with a pure deffensive SS that doesn't have a bat? I'm willing to give Gomez a pass because of the defense he brings up the middle, which I believe is really important in making a good staff even better. I'm just worried that our defense right now could be an issue in big games/series etc. Also, how does Counsell's D compare to Betancourt's (I know CC can't play every day but could he play half the time)? Just wanted to get a feel for what you guys think on the whole situation.
  18. Looking forward to hearing Prince!
  19. Awesome, thanks for the input. Ya, I've heard of a lot of people doing the northern KY thing too. We are looking in to that. I'm excited to check out the stadium....especially when the Crew is there. If anyone else has any info, keep firing! Thanks!
  20. Awesome! Thanks for posting these!
  21. Bueller? Bueller?
  22. Just curious if there are any regular Brewer Podcasts or if any of the local stations put their broadcasts on the Internet. I know from time to time guys post links on here but thought we could post them all in this thread. If anyone knows of any please let me know where I can hear them. Is one of the stations something like WSSP? I could be way off on that. Ha. I do follow @brewersbuzztap on twitter and they recently posted a podcast. Thanks for your help!
  23. It is funny, but having wolf as one of your back end guys instead of front end makes a big difference.
  24. I don't think Gamel is a 3b. I'd like to see him at 1st or maybe RF like people have mentioned. I guess it would be aggressive to have an OF of Hart, Braun, Gamel but the bats would be great!
