  1. Man I don't know who we should go for but I think we need to bring in a reliable guy and then I'd love to see us take a chance on an injury guy. I'd be happy with Davis Smoltz or Washburn for the right price.
  2. I know we've been saying this for a long time on this board but man, if Parra gets on track and becomes what many think he can, the rotation looks a lot better. Kind of exciting to think about.
  3. I don't know but it appears to me that he's not that far off is he? Or are we saying the sample size is way too small?
  4. Ok guys I'm not a huge stat guy but saw that Escobar batted .304 w/ a .333 obp. So I can see he doesn't draw many walks but would think that he could maybe improve on that as he grows in the majors. Is his stat line that far off from being a leadoff hitter? I guess I don't know what the league average would be for the leadoff with OBP and Avg but I'd love to be filled in. Thanks As for the other guys I'd really like to see weeks bat 2nd or 5th and would like Gomez 9th. I love speed and think that we can make a few things happen with the guys we have in the lineup.
  5. The Twins win because they have a steady presence in the clubhouse and front office. They are consistent in what they do. Good defense, good young pitching, and they don't overpay for larger named average FA's. They bring in guys that will play hard and they are hard not to cheer for. I really think the Brewers need to adopt their method of philosophy. The only complaint I have with the Twins is they never go for it at the trade deadline. I think you have to do that every once and awhile. But shoot, I'd rather have the Brewers in the hunt every year than only once and awhile.
  6. Anyone have this recorded or a link to it?
  7. There is way too many ifs and buts going on here. You know a wise man once said you can if and but all you want but if your aunt had balls she'd be your uncle. Let this thing work its self out. And remember we can't have the best player in the league at every position!!
  8. Personally I'll be happy for him. If he bounces back it really doesn't matter. We don't have a position for him. Escobar is our SS. So Hardy really has no value for our team unless he goes to a different position. We have to continue to get younger and cheaper for us to ever have a chance. Hopefully we can keep 2 studs on offense and maybe a big pitcher but beyond that we have to go young. Getting a guy like gomez with potential, speed, scrappyness is exactly what we need to do.
  9. JJ HARDY HAS NO TRADE VALUE!!! People can't you see that. Everything is going against the Brewers when looking to trade him. Bad year, we have a good SS that has been pushing him for a few years, he's going to be a FA soon. What team would pay much for him? Answer: Nobody. Sure he could have been a part of a package deal but what do we have to trade away that would get pitching besides Fielder? You can't offer a bunch of below average players to get a good young pitcher. We aren't the Yankees guys, we have to take what we can get at some spots and take risks.
  10. He's better than TGJ in the field and his speed is unmatched. Wait and see what happens.
  11. Dude, where would Hardy have played? He was garbage last year. We would never have gotten a good pitcher for Hardy. You're living in a dream world if you think that. For us to be succesful we need youg scrappy guys to fill most of our postion spots and build around starting pitching. We can't expect to be able to have high priced FA's everywhere. It just won't work for our market size.
  12. People People People. Slow your roll. I live in Mnpls and have watched this guy play quite a bit. His D is great and his speed is amazing. This guy has a lot of potential. He is ugly at times at the plate but he is young. He is also has a great attitude and loves being out on the field. Don't just look at his stats right now, I say give him a chance and I think he will grow on a lot of you. Plus lets be honest, JJ isn't going to fetch much. HE WAS SENT TO THE MINORS LAST YEAR! Teams know that he has no value for the Brewers so why would anyone give up anything. The only way to get anything would have been if he was part of a package. This saves us money, gives us a guy we have under control for awhile, is an upgrade defensively (I know that's a sin to say but Cam is getting old) and gives us some more speed in our lineup.
  13. I liked him this year. I still miss Jim but I thought he was a good replacement.
  14. We are but it's not looking good.
  15. I think we should be in the conversation. I too heard it and was not happy. I know we aren't playing great but we should be mentioned. Good win tonight but we need to start taking series. LET'S GO!
  16. 1. We need to get some young pitching in that can help us in the next year or two. 2. Lacroy, Salome 3. Prince 4. Weeks 5. McGehee 6. Escobar 7. Gamel 8. Maybe Cam for another year.... Maybe let Hart try for a year. 9. Braun Dump Hall, Hardy, maybe Hart (I only if you can get something for him) and get more pitching. I live in Mnpls and it's pretty simple. Pitching is the only thing that will make you good year in and year out (when you can't buy a whole team). We need to build around pitching and prospects. Then make a big move every once and awhile and try to make a run at it. That's the Twins only fault is they never take a leap to go after a world series anymore. We have to trade guys like Prince when they are in their last year of a contract and get young pitching.
  17. When Braun talks people will listen. I like that he is very selective when speaking and gets right to the point. Until now he's always taken a lot of the blame himself. This time it really upset me that he called out the pitching. It would be similar to a WR calling out a teams defense. That can cause huge problems in the locker room! The pitchers are going to be a close group and now I bet a lot of those guys have some strong feelings towards Braun. Just think about how that would make you feel. Especially because the team has put most of their stock in the offense and not towards pitching and defense. The offense should be a lot better than the pitching, that's where our biggest weapons are! We all knew that going in to the season that the bats would have to carry us through the tough times. That being said we do need help but I just don't know if we can get it without depleting our farm system. Remember the only way we can win is through smart drafting and bringing these guys up through the system. We can't compete in the FA market or by trading up, we just can't do it that way.
  18. Hahah. I asked that same question after the game in the "In Game Thread." I was like, did he just do what I think he did. Glad to see others saw it too. Love it!
  19. Did Prince crotch chop the crowd after he scored on Cam's triple?
  20. Ancient stories say they gave MI the UP but told them that they would have to take the lions for their NFL team for payment. I grew up in Western WI and now live in MN and it is a big split between Twins and Brewers fans. They have done a better job of getting Brewers games on TV up in the Northwest now but so many of those people grew up watching the twins. I think with the way the Brewers have been playing there are more fans coming out of that area but it's nothing like southern WI. I'm amazed how many Brewers shirts and hats I see when I'm down there. I love it! Now we need to get Bucks games up there!
  21. I'm not quite sure what year this is but it's a Randy Johnson complete game shutout at the astrodome vs the Crew. Some great players on our squad including John Jaha, Erik Plunk. Hahah. Classic indeed.
  22. Ok, I hate saying throwing this aroudn but do you think he could have been one of the many players who used steroids? Just a thought. Because he seems to be so screwed up mentally the last few years. Guys who used, saw results, then stop using have big issues getting over the mental side of not using. Either way Bill Hall has totally screwed himself up. He's constantly tinkering with things and it's just screwing him up mentally. He's always looking for different answers and he's not playing baseball. Hey, he's a great glove and can play a few positions but he's now just a platoon player or backup. I hate saying that but he's got face the music. The problem is, he still thinks he's that guy from a few years ago and seems to get selfish and stubborn when asked to be a role player. I wish he wouldn't act like that because I enjoy him on the field and seems like his teamates enjoy him (when he isn't complaining to the media). I'd like to see Gamel at third with Billy coming in late innings and also backing up SS.
  23. Great performance by Bushy! Hoffman, what can I say. He just makes it look so easy. Good win boys, good win.
