  1. No....but Ennder didNo, I said I'd rather trust in Marcum pitching well than use a guy who hasn't started in weeks and doesn't have stuff as good as Marcum's. There is nothing wrong with starting Marcum tonight, the team just has to execute. The Cardinals have hammered every ball in the strike zone by all of our starters except Wolf all series and have scored first in every game, this isn't just a Marcum thing. I'll tell you what though, if Narveson had pitched and gave up 4 ER I can be sure of one thing, I wouldn't be calling people out about it. That just is uncalled for in general, any single starter on our team could do this, most of them have already this series.
  2. The fear was our defense would cost us in these close games and that is exactly what has happened so far.
  3. I don't want to see Carpenter again so lets win the next 2 and save Gallardo for game 1.
  4. Isn't this what a manager is supposed to do? Knowing when to go with a player, even though the math suggests it's not the best move. The correct answer is not always the one that the math suggests will be correct. Do you believe the manager who doesn't even know why he left them in there had some super secret reason though? Regardless my point was just saying it worked it must have been the correct move is a terrible way to look at things. I don't claim that anyone can perfectly state what the percentages are.
  5. 6 IP, 0 ER http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. On top of everything else Kotteras has one of the highest K rates on the team so is one of the more likely players to not get that runner in from 3rd.
  7. When you think about it the concept of home vs road splits is pretty silly in the first place. Greinke pitching in Petco is going to be better than Miller no matter what his splits say. Looking closer at the game logs he had quite a few good road games this year, he really struggled @NYY and @CHC (in a 7-12 game so probably wind blowing out) and then one stinker @Pit. 8 of his 13 road starts were really solid including the one @STL.
  8. I think he made the wrong move, he managed it like the regular season and not the playoffs. I think the fact Wolf went on and pitched 2 more innings helped him save some face though. It isn't a completely boneheaded move or anything but I do think it was the wrong one.
  9. 1982 world series - Brewers, Cards, Cards, Brewers, Brewers, Cards, Cards 2011 NLCS - Brewers, Cards, Cards, Brewers... I sure hope this isn't a repeat!
  10. I don't think home field has much to do with Greinke, that is just variance speaking. Marcum pitching in St. Louis is a better fit though since it can potentially save him a HR here and there. I still wouldn't shift things around, let your guys pitch on their normal days as much as you can.
  11. Weeks is swinging through fastballs right now but he is still making hard contact when he does hit the ball, I don't think you need to bench him. Weeks defense has also become average so you don't need to replace his defense.
  12. Hey, I'm not saying I agree with the decision nor that I would make the same decision - but when a manager makes a move that looks bad, and the guy produces at the plate....... call it a dumb decision all you want, but you still have to say it was a successful dumb decision.Sure, but this is a terrible way to look at things. If a manager puts you in a situation where his player succeeds 15% of the time but another player would have succeeded 25% of the time it is a bad move. 15% of the time it will still work out, 75% of the time it wouldn't have even mattered but 10% of the time he made a mistake that cost you the game. Eventually that 10% is going to bite you in the butt.
  13. I love how Berkman said they should have won 2 in miller park. They got completely dominated one game and took advantage of a bunch of close bad plays to win the 2nd. They should easily have been down 0-2 after the games in Miller park.
  14. I care about results - could care less if a manager makes what is perceived as bone-headed decisions all season long if they produce successful results. That's what a managers job is - to put guys in situations where they will succeed. Results > Predictions Does anyone really think that with Plush in over Kotsay the Brewers win game 3? Cool, you have a bad grasp on strategy, congrats.
  15. Saturday is an off day so I doubt it. I think you have to go with your 3 best starters the next 3 games and that is marcum, greinke and gallardo even if not all games are on full rest.
  16. We can certainly trust him as much as we trusted Wolf tonight and that worked out.
  17. I don't know the answer for sure but we were trying to set our fall ball schedules for that day and the other person I work with in setting up the league suggested the game might be at 7, so I think there is a chance it can be changed.
  18. McGehee can really only face a pure fastball guy at this point, he is just lost on breaking stuff.
  19. Walk, strike out, single, single, walk, strike out, line out.... HOLD
  20. If Wolf can pitch like this i know Marcum can, even if he is 'tired'.
