  1. Or because they would judge his season and not just one series... I mean what do you want people to say, he was one of the weaker regular SS in baseball all season as expected, he can get hot at the right time and it doesn't mean any criticism is wrong somehow. Nobody wants to see him fail, everyone hopes he hits a HR every single time he comes to the plate, I just don't get where this kind of comment even comes from. It's my understanding that the purpose of this thread was to give him credit for the way he played in the NLDS. Yes, he was one of the worst SS in baseball during the regular season, but he came up big in today's game. I would like the haters to at least admit that. Why though, I just don't get this at all? The worst player in baseball history can have a good 5 game stretch, should you apologize for understanding he is bad? It just makes no sense at all.
  2. in the NFC playoffs a few years back, a underdog NY Giants team beat the top seed to give the Packers home field advantage in the NFC championship game. Then I guy named Brett Favre.... The better team does not win 100% of the time even with home field advantage, it is rare they win even 70% of the time.
  3. I'd rather face the weaker team and that is the Cardinals, especially when we have home field. Couldn't imagine a better result for this series. Still something like a 55% vs 45% series at best so can easily go either way but that is the playoffs.
  4. Won't say much nice about the Cardinals but it is nice to see a real rivalry forming in the NL Central, been a while since we had a pair of good teams for multiple years.
  5. This really shouldn't be a surprise but it still is. The packers are being moved to 94.5 on Sunday to make way for the Brewers game. Always nice to see the Brewers get top billing.

  7. Most playoffs come down to scrubs having big games it feels like, no apology needed. I haven't looked at the stats but my guess is he was a bit better than expected, I think playing on a winning team kept him more motivated.
  8. The most amazing thing about the game tonight to me was how few Arizona fans I saw, I think I saw 2 the entire night and I was watching for them. The crowd had a lot of energy though it seemed to go out of them when we lost the lead in the 9th until we threatened in the bottom of the 10th.
  9. Managing in the NL isn't really any harder than the AL, maybe 1 out of 20 games or so is there actually a tough choice and that is being generous. I don't know if Roenicke even knows you can double switch and he did fine. I would think Ventura would be fine at in game managing, the rest of it he might struggle with though and what happens outside of the games is somewhat important as well.
  10. Game 5 of the 2011 division series. Hopefully it is good memories.
  11. Yeah I can buy into in game momentum, it is thinking that momentum plays a role when you have a day off between games, switch venues and have different players on the field that I think is really stretching things.
  12. If I believed momentum had anything to do with baseball I might agree with you but time and time again it is shown that it is a bunch of hooey. I expect the team who gets a better start from their pitcher to win, momentum doesn't have anything to do with it or we would have automatically won game 3 since we had 'all the momentum'. As for anxiety, yeah it is high since there is only one game left so it is more or less a coin flip at this point. There is never a sure thing in the playoffs though, the series are just too short.
  13. You could make a pretty decent case for Hairston playing 2B and McGehee getting a start at 3rd since Weeks has been so terrible, but I doubt it would be a big change in anything.
  14. Could have really used this last inning when it was 5-3! edit: Well not giving up the double obviously!
  15. Those win probabilities are bunk. Ask TB what their win probability vs NYY on the last day of the season after 7 innings. In any inning, anything can happen. I bet it wasn't 0% which seems to be what you are saying. Just because we only have a 13% or so chance to win doesn't mean we won't win.
  16. How the heck is that called a strike after the rest of this game.
  17. I was actually fine with Wolf being left in through Parra, leaving him in to face the PH with another righty on deck is just confusing.
  18. To be fair these are very different situations, Diamondbacks have to win this one to stay in. I don't like Wolf facing the PH at all.
  19. I'd imagine this is his last batter no matter the results.
  20. Yeah this strike zone is pretty silly so if Saunders gets the same it should be a big offensive night.
  21. I have to imagine Wolf will never get anyone else out again the rest of his career considering how much people are freaking out. Mediocre pitchers have bad games, that is why they are mediocre, not like he is the first guy to do it.
  22. Collmenter will be out of baseball within 3 years once most of the league has adjusted to his goofy deliver, no worries long term.
  23. And the pitch wasn't right down the middle so that works. Not sure which game you're watching ennder but that split the plate. So childish from Marcum... Watching the Brewers game, it caught some of the plate for sure, but right down the middle not so much.
  24. Only thing is Lucroy didn't call the pitch to be right down the middle. And the pitch wasn't right down the middle so that works.
  25. Or yelling like a guy calling a game for a team that just hit a grand slam in the playoffs.True in this case, but Sutton is a complete tool so can't give him the benefit of the doubt.
