  1. Epstein is really good in the draft, they have traded away a lot of talent and they have a lot of home grown talent.
  2. Batting him 2nd doesn't bother me all that much I guess but there is really no excuse for him playing CF.
  3. The difference between a Gallardo and a Lohse is not nearly as large as people seem to be making it out to be, it is 1 run over a full game. It doesn't turn a game into an auto win or something. I don't really like the idea of trying to play pitching matchups. Now if it looks like rain and they start the game anyway I could see starting Wolf instead of Gallardo tonight.
  4. Except the way Marcum has pitched the last 2 games (and month for that matter) no one would really second guess him for trying Narveson. I think it would be a terrible move. Take a guy who hasn't started in a long time and hasn't pitched much recently over one of your better pitchers just because the pitcher is having a bad stretch, the same kind of stretch that pitchers have at some point every single year all based on a small sample size of innings by Narveson that includes games against players that aren't even on the team anymore. Add to that the fact the Cardinals are slightly better against lefties. If Narveson pitches poorly second guessers come out of the woodwork too, I guarantee it. Now starting Kotsay in CF is just silly, so I really hope that one doesn't happen.
  5. He is in a no win situation, if he pitches Narveson over Marcum people like me will say he is an idiot if Narveson pitches poorly, if he has Marcum go and he gets lit up he'll be called an idiot by most of the rest of the board. That is what the manager is there for apparently, to be second guessed~.
  6. Anything can happen in a 5 game series, I'd be worried if we were playing the worst team in baseball much less one of the better ones. We are at best 50/50 at this point since they get 3 home games to our 2, of course everyone is worried.
  7. It was much, much better than Wolf in his post season start. Wolf wasn't even coming anywhere near the plate with most of his pitches and he is more hittable than Marcum is when he does come into the strike zone. If I have to kick someone out of the rotation I'd gladly kick Wolf out before Marcum. To be fair none of the Brewer SP has thrown the ball well in their last playoff game, Gallardo was all over the place in game 5 too, he is just good enough to not get destroyed every time he struggles with command.
  8. If you don't see a difference between the way Marcum gave up runs last night and the way Wolf did in his last start we aren't going to agree on pitching in general.
  9. Nyger Morgan is a buffoon, but he is our buffoon I guess. If he played for any other team I'd probably hate him more than any other player in baseball.
  10. Marcum really didn't pitch poorly, if our defense makes the plays it should and the Cards don't have every little bloop hit find a hole he gives up 2 runs. If I'm going to yank a starter from the rotation it is Wolf, not Marcum.
  11. If you want a player every time he is up you instantly make him the best player in baseball by a large margin. Given who bats behind him it is silly to be walking him all the time.
  12. It's not only the pace of the game Selig criticizes for not adding it. He also wants to keep the human element in the game. Which is completely idiotic. The human element will always be in the game since humans play it. Baseball games are already too slow paced and too long for the average fan these days, you can't really do much that will slow it down more.
  13. What really sucks is with the close plays in the field going our way and the ump calls going our way we could easily be the team up by a few runs. This has been a very frustrating game all around. I will say I did not expect to win 4 home games vs the Cardinals, we were going to lose 1 and we have to win 1 on the road.
  14. The first problem was using Estrada here in the first place but I guess most managers make that mistake. It is the heart of the order in a game where you can't afford anymore runs, use Saito for this inning. It isn't like you are going to wear out the bullpen with a travel day tomorrow.
  15. It has been random. It was small early, huge for a bit and seems to be small again.
  16. If they keep that strike zone we won't score a run. It has been like this all postseason (for every team, not a Brewer rant), like the umps have been told whichever team is behind in the series gets a better zone.
  17. Sucks, Gomez in CF and that is 3 outs, why couldn't Jackson be LH!
  18. His xFIP is 3.42, pretty comparable to his last 2 seasons and not out of line with the rest of the RP they have used all post season.
  19. Considering Yuni has missed 2 plays almost every SS in baseball makes I would tend to agree.
  20. He is arms and legs worse than Saito, KRod and Axford so I don't really miss the fact they haven't played him despite his good ERA which was nothing but a mirage. Not even sure he is better than Loe to be honest.
  21. You don't trade your best prospect for a pitcher and sit him come playoff time after he has a good season. Starting Narveson over Wolf wouldn't bother me at all though.
  22. It was really just because that game was more recent. There was a boatload of coverage of the Brewers during the Cardinals game already. I'm sure that the Phillies will get top billing in the morning shows but they'll talk plenty about both games. I mean Arizona had like 2 fans at this game and couldn't sell out their own playoff games, compare that to the Phillies losing when they were expected to win it all.
  23. The better team does not win 100% of the time even with home field advantage, it is rare they win even 70% of the time.I realize you like bringing people back to earth but for one night can you just....not do that? Nope, I am not a kneejerk poster and never will be.
