  1. RP's, maybe C and possibly a replacement for Mench. Thats about all we are looking at in the off season in my opinion.
  2. He's starting to get railed on quite a bit on the bigger sabermetric sites. BP wrote an article on his misuse of Cordero and they said their mail boxes are flooded with complaints about him. In today's power rankings this little snippit was included...
  3. They just kept talking about the 8.5 game lead collapse over and over, which of course isn't even the biggest collapse in baseball this season which would belong to the Red Sox and maybe to the Mets.
  4. I'm of the opinion that an average manager has us in first place right now and Yost has probably cost us a playoff chance. Removing him from the picture is about the most constructive thing we can do. The manager doesn't have a huge impact but I think Yost has cost us 2, maybe 3 games on the year and that is enough with a close race. I'd rather not wait another year for him to prove he's not the right guy, the window of us being a strong team might only be 4-5 years, why waste another one.
  5. I don't think Weeks will ever sniff servicable as a 2B in the majors. His upside is still below serviciable. I'm not sure with Braun yet, I know he has been horrible this year but its just a hard thing to get a read on with only 2/3rds of a seasons data. I'd like to see one of them in the OF but I don't think it will happen, for all the complaining about the pitching this year the fault should be squarly placed on the defense, the pitching has done just about exactly what was expected of it, the ERA's and BABIP are driven by that poor defense.
  6. Yep it makes no sense, especially when the chuckle heads he throws out there are facing the middle of the order. You let Cordero get through the tough part of the order and hope your backend guys can get you through the bottom of the order with the lead.
  7. Yost is one of the 10 worst managers in baseball and it most likely has cost us a playoff series, I just hope he is gone this year rather than next. It sucked that they gave Sherman a long enough leash that he completely destroyed our window for a super bowl with his horrible coaching and I hope they don't make the same mistake for the Brewers. Yost is making mistakes that I wouldn't expect out of a first year manager and its just sad that we are probably going to lose our shot this year because of him.
  8. Wow you must just be miserable all the time if this is your attitude when watching sports.
  9. Now do that for 2004-2006 and I think you'll find he's having a down year.
  10. Again, thanks for the info. Is there an easier way to pick a specific year. It seems like you click 2006, then you can look at 2005, then you can look at 2004, etc. Is there somewhere I can just type the year and jump to it? http://www.baseball-reference.com/leagues/
  11. Not to mention its probably a good thing Sheets didn't go a full year since he missed time each of the past 2 years. The finger injury gave his arm a break which is probably a good thing when looking into the future.
  12. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/MIL/2007.shtml Click on the tab that says batting orders. You can look at full combined season stats for any year any league as well but they don't have the lineup/batting orders broken down by league, just by team.
  13. The 1982 Brewers only used 74 batting orders but by 1984 they used 102 batting orders and in 85 they used 133 batting orders. Its been pretty common for 25 years or so to see 100+ different orders per team per year.
  14. Over an 11 game sample anything can happen so put me down for I don't know. The Cubs are as like to lose 8 games as to win 8 games in my opinion, they are a .500 team playing against teams who have given them trouble in the past.
  15. Yes I'd say he is having a down year, he just doesn't look as dominating as he did from 2004-2006.
  16. Brewers have used 100 different batting orders in 148 games. Mets have used 98 orders. Cubs have used 117 orders Arizona has used 136 orders. None of that was including pitchers, yes Arizona has had a different order almost every game this year and their most common one was used 3 times. We are no different than anyone else.
  17. Sheets has been injured twice as a Brewer. The injury in the end of 2005 that lasted into the middle of 2006 and then the finger injury this year. They were not wrong at all to extend him.
  18. I don't mind leaving Jenkins out there all that much. He's got power so a good chance he drives in 2 with a hit, he K's a lot vs lefties and a K while not a good result is better than a GIDP. He's a good defensive OF and we had a lead. Now double stealing with a lefty who strikes out a lot up to bat against a very good throwing catcher was just idiotic. Even if they steal the base you know Jenkins is going to K a lot of the time and make the SB worthless. ----- Continued here: viewtopic.php?f=63&t=30470
  19. I'm impressed that he went to Linebrink here.
  20. You could point out the road splits, Tulo is David Eckstein on the road.
  21. There is no doubt in my mind that if we traded managers with the Cubs we'd be in 1st by ourselves right now. There is no doubt in my mind if we traded managers with the Cardinals we'd have a strong 3 to 4 game lead. My excitement for meaningful games in september is diminished by the fact I know Yost will put us in a postion to lose at least once a week and we'll lose one of those games at least 1 time a month.
  22. The Cards need to sweep the Cubs to get back in it... we need the Cards to sweep the Cubs to give us our best chance to win it all. Lets just hope the Cards sweep the Cubs.
  23. Yet again the right choice was Cordero. He was well rested and we had the next day off. Who cares if we NEED him in the 10th inning, I'd rather make sure the game gets to the 10th inning than lose in the 8th.
  24. I agree with this completely. Turnbow has this habit of coming out and not being able to throw strikes at all. This habit usually shows up when he's been used a lot lately. He has pitched a lot lately, comes out and completely misses the strike zone repeatedly and walks the first two guys up to bat. At that point a good manager takes him out, he has had more than enough chances in the past to prove he can work through these situations and he almost always fails in them. Now at this point you can say that its a gray area and letting him face the next guy is fine, the next guy singles and Yost leaves him out there, now it is just bad. The next guy hits a ball pretty hard that is caught and Yost STILL leaves him out there to give up 2 more runs. Turnbow is left out there to throw 24 pitches, of those 24 pitches, 14 are balls, 7 are strikes(3 of which were to the first batter) and 3 are put in play. At some point in there Yost has to realize that Turnbow is not going to get the job done and its before he has given up 3 runs.
  25. Any chance we can work the schedule such that Bush only pitches at home, he's just a completely different guy on the road.
