  1. If Cordero doesn't blow any saves on the road we are 26-26. A large portion of our road woes have been the blown saves. Another large part has been poor pitching in general of course.
  2. Very annoying watching Zambrano throw ball after ball and having his opponent swing at them. He should have at least 4 walks already but they just keep swinging at his garbage.
  3. That makes my point for me though... Even if we are a .550 team it would be shocking if we didnt' play .500 ball over at least one 60 game stretch on the year and it wouldn't be abnormal to do it over a 100 game stretch, it wouldn't be a record to do it over a 120 game stretch. Good teams play .500 ball for a lot of the season, its generally just a couple hot streaks that push them up over .500 in the first place. Even .600 winning percentage teams play .500 ball over 50 games of the year most of the time. Talking about us playing slightly under .500 for 70 games isn't abnormal at all, even if we are better than I think we are.
  4. .320 AVG, 29HR, 88RBI, 15SB, 91 Runs I think he's the real deal but he'll slow down, just like Hardy did, just like Fielder did etc.
  5. It was a HR without a doubt, it clearly bounced out of the fans glove and the fan who had a Reds shirt on even took a bow to the crowd when they called it a double. Good to see a bounce go against the Cubs for once.
  6. That is 100% completely normal for a team that ends the year .550. I don't know what else to say, you are going to think what you want to but this is not abnormal to have a prolonged streak of .500 in the middle of the season for a .550 type team. Personally I think the Brewers are probably more like a .530 team so its even more normal.
  7. spiff.rit.edu/richmond/ba...reaks.html Teams who end the season with a .550 winning percentage generally go through a streak of between 60 and 140 games where they play .500 ball. This is just normal what the Brewers are doing. You can't say we are a bad team that went on a hot streak because it ignores the hot streak.
  8. The starting pitching seems to have turned things around, the hitting is still all over the place, the bullpen has cost us 4 wins since the all star break which is the difference between happy fans and unhappy ones. Unfortunately our next home games are against good teams.
  9. Those kind of judgement calls never bother me. What actually happened made Pujols single completely meaningless, had we walked him they would have scored exactly the same number of runs. Some of his bullpen management makes me want to hit someone though.
  10. Detroit has lost 5 of its last 6 including a double header to the White Sox where they blew a 7-0 lead. Its not just the Brewers that go through mini stretches like this. Its just how baseball goes sometimes. The Brewers should be walking out of this road stretch over .500, Cordero blew 2 saves, it really stinks i agree but the team as a whole isn't playing as poorly as people seem to think they are.
  11. The 24-10 start has absolutely no meaning, it just means we played our best baseball early while a team like the Cubs played thier best in July. There is absolutely no difference between the two. Of course 82 wins is successful, the team hasn't won that many in a long long time. I didn't expect this team to win the divison to start the year and nothing has ever changed that, if we end up in the playoffs we played over my expectations and I'll be thrilled. What I wanted was for us to be in the playoff hunt deep into the season and to get that big game experience to build towards next year. I still think we'll be in the running in the final weeks so we are doing about what i expected.
  12. If you take out Cordero's blowups this team is about average on the road, so its really on his head more than the whole teams. The hitting is completely normal on the road, all teams see a slight dip and ours isn't any bigger than most. The pitching is much worse on the road but a large part of that is Cordero's numbers. I really hope Yost goes with Linebrink as the road closer though I know it won't happen.
  13. If the Brewers win 82 games its a successful season. If they win in the 85+ range and don't make the playoffs its a really good season. If they make the playoffs its a great season.
  14. Balfour is getting roughed up by Boston... glad I'm not home watching this Brewer game, looks brutal.
  15. Looking at Weathers game log at least they have not lost a single game the past 2 years where he blew the save in the 9th inning. He has blown a few in the 8th where they lost and he's blown a good number in the 9th where they came back to win. Seems like one of those stats that doesn't really mean what it seems to.
  16. I think a come from behind win or two would help offset the pain a lot. Right now we have had some really heartbreaking losses and very few big wins and it leads to a frustrated fanbase.
  17. The offense isn't really out of line on the road, most teams take a dip and ours is about the same as league average. The pitching is much much worse on the road though, part of that is Cordero obviously but its a team effort.
  18. Sounds like it was a good hit just at someone, I'll take that over a swinging 3rd strike in the dirt though its the same end result.
  19. Luckily struggling for Fielder is still an .876 OPS for the month. He's not hitting HR's but he's still hitting singles and taking his walks.
  20. Its been 53 AB's since his last HR so yeah he is due.
  21. Yeah the gameday rocks for Braun. One behind him, one way outside and in the dirt, two inside his body
  22. Counsell is way up on Eckstein on the grit-o-meter for this game.
  23. The Cardinals lineup is pretty sad vs lefties. Pujols is the only hitter with an OPS over .800, Encarnacion is the only other hitter with an OPS over .760.
  24. I like him too, its the uncomfortable silences and stumbling over what he is saying that makes it so painful to listen to him. Unlike Ann who was just useless I think he actually has potential, he just isn't a natural out there, he needs to find his comfort zone.
