  1. We are 4-1 in extra inning games, not exactly what you are looking for but its not like this team is losing all the close games. We have the third highest OPS in the NL in close and late situations so its not like the bats are just going cold late in games.
  2. He was below average defensively last year, don't know about this year.
  3. Thats just baseball. The Mets are probably the best team in the NL and they were horrible the first 2/3rds of June. Won almost every game the last 1/3 of June and then lost 4 straight to start July. Teams go hot and cold, its part of the game.
  4. In the last month and a half Bush has been the 2nd best starter in the rotation with an ERA under 3.50 and an OPS under .700. It has become my vent that people keep ragging on him and how he has sucked recently and is hurting the team. He gave up a couple big innings early in the year but he easily could end the year as the 2nd best established starter on the team.
  5. Yes and if he were in Nashville his season would end 2 months before the Brewer season might. Gallardo shouldn't throw more than 175-185 IP this year, there is no reason to have him throw more than that, the risk just isn't worth it. They are just trying to come up with a solution that lets him help the team all season instead of being shut down later.
  6. Fielder: A. I had high hopes for him and he has exceeded them. Weeks: C-. Sucks that he's been hurt but still has been a league average 2B. Hardy: B+. Great April but he has faded big time since, .619 OPS in the past month and a half. Braun: A. Way more than I had hoped for. Jenkins: B. Jenkins has been very solid this year. Hall: C. The early slump really hurt but his defense is looking better and the bat has come around this last month. Hart: B. Establishing himself as one of the better OF's in the NL. Mench: C-. He's had a couple big hits but he's cost a number of runs with his glove too. Gross: C. Last bat off the bench Gwynn: C. Had a hot week and then was mostly useless until they sent him down. Estrada: B-. Wish he could throw somebody out. Miller: B-. Better than moeller. Sheets: A-. Good to see him healthy, hope he can keep those K's up. Capuano: C-. Great start, ineffective middle, injured end. Suppan: C-. Doing about what I expected him to, eat up some innings with average work. Bush: B-. The ERA doesn't look good but its misleading, Bush has pitched better than any other starter currently in the rotation not named Sheets. Vargas: C-. Fifth starter, not going more than 5.1 IP per start is hurting the bullpen though. Villanueva: A. Better than I expected. Wise: B. Shouse: B-. Still question whether or not a LOOGY is useful or not but Shouse has done well this season. Spurling: C. Need to see more of him to really judge him. Turnbow: B. Still scares me to death every time he comes in, but he's got the job done more times than not. Cordero: A. One of the best closers this year in the NL, everyone blows saves sometimes.
  7. Bush has a 3.49 ERA against and .651 OPS against in his last 7 starts, that is not a #5. I know people are going to be hung up on the couple big innings early in the year with Bush but he has pitched decently this year.
  8. Yeah because Bush's 3.49 ERA and .651 OPS against in his past 7 starts have just been killing us.
  9. Bush is the 4th or maybe even 3rd best pitcher in the rotation, Vargas is the 5th best and probably the 7th best starter on the team.
  10. Vargas is our #5, he just needs time for his 3 good starts to begin the season and 3 lucky starts to follow those to wear off. He's been terrible for over a month now. Since May 15th he has a 5.56 ERA and .917 OPS against and that doesn't count today. If you aren't counting Gallardo than Bush has been our #2 for the past month in a half. Since the grand slam padres game on May 25th he has a 3.49 ERA and .651 OPS against.
  11. Nice, we could use a couple Cub losses before the break.
  12. Ooh I like that idea. 5's (Very confident) Sheets Villanueva Cordero 4's Wise 3's Capuano Suppan Bush Gallardo Shouse Turnbow 2's Vargas Spurling
  13. Good luck with that, he's gone 6 innnings in under half his starts and has never gone over 6, my guess is 5.1 IP and 3.2 IP of the bullpen.
  14. Pretty rough crowd considering that OPS in June was higher than his OPS last season. Yeah he needs to keep it up but he most certainly seems to be out of the slump.
  15. Five years later about 75% of that team is out of baseball and not because they were old~. Thats pretty funny.
  16. Well obviously its hard to really rate the young guys but its supposed to be fun so you just do your best. Taking the young guys out of the picture it pretty much comes down to Bush vs Suppan vs Vargas and how you rank those 3. Starters Sheets Gallardo Capuano Bush Suppan Vargas Relievers Cordero Villanueva Turnbow Wise Shouse Spurling
  17. Well at least he's at 40 pitches through 2. Pirates have the 2nd worst bullpen ERA in the NL so getting those RP's in there is a good thing.
  18. The NL Central is 36 games under .500 outside the division, that is just terrible.
  19. I'd never try to evaluate a player at 24 years of age or with a nagging injury. I have no idea what to expect out of him at this point. The wrist could derail his entire career or he could just be fine next year, its hard to really know.
  20. 4 hours after a tough loss against the 2nd place team in the division and the vent thread is on the second page. Maybe that somehow means people are starting to believe in the team!
  21. The ball and glove logo wouldn't be allowed back even if the team pushed for it. It violated MLB rules which states no pattern that imitates or suggests the shape of a baseball can be in a logo.
  22. Lakefront Brewery has the chalet and slide.
  23. Yeah I don't put much stock into the HR derby thing. Abreu and Tejada are two just ok HR hitters who were having career years and then had regression to the mean 2nd halves following it. Plenty of guys have won the derby and still had good second halves.
  24. Well we won our two games even if we only got 1 win to show for it because of the come from behind loss. This series more or less played out like I thought it would if Cordero just doesn't have one of his rare blown saves.
  25. Yeah its just not our day so far, between the ump giving them a run and all the hard hit balls at guys this game could of been very different. Thats baseball though, keep at marquis and beat up on the depleted bullpen. Mike Hargrove resigned as manager of the Mariners because he's burned out.
