  1. Well because Davis has 3B eligibility he'll most certainly go before Votto and ESPN has Votto ranked fairly low (behind Derek Lee). I'm not that familiar with points leagues, but when you say an 8th rounder I assume you mean 8th round overall, 3 rounds after your keepers, correct? This seems like a low ball offer. If you throw Howard back into the pool he'd most certainly be a 1st (6th) round pick. I'd want his 6th rounder at least since Howard is easily a top 20 player. Edit: Yeah, I'd probably keep Howard and go after Gallardo or a similar pitcher (Billingsley?) if YoGa gets grabbed ahead of you
  2. After the 1st month Hall would be basically useless for the Yanks. Jeter and Cano are entrenched at SS and 2B and their OF is crowded enough as it is.
  3. The stickied fantasy baseball topic seems more like a "join my league" type of thread. This can be a topic to discuss players and trades from a fantasy perspective. I'll start the discussion with A-Rod. I have him in a 10 team h2h 5x5 keeper league. I'm trying not to panic about the whole surgery thing. One month isn't THAT bad. Right now, I'm thinking about taking Chris Davis in round 6 (about 10 spots ahead of his ADP) to play 3rd and taking Joey Votto in round 10 to man 1B. I think I'll be able to get Votto this late because we don't play with CI or MI in this league. Once A-Rod comes back I can slide one of these guys into my Utility spot or trade them. My other option would be to take a chance on a guy like Alex Gordon or Mark Reynolds much later in the draft. Gordon could finally break out and I could trade him after the 1st month. Reynolds has lots of power potential and just so happened to have an amazing April in '08. Any advice?
  4. How embarrassing for you....that's MRS. "Image not Available."
  5. did a valet park your car recently?
  6. So, is it a good thing that I haven't gotten this email yet or did I just dream that I signed up?
  7. It looks like Braun is caught up in a boxing match 12 feet to the right of the 1B line. Nice right hook Braunie!
  8. I ordered some Girl Scout cookies a couple weeks ago and have been craving a Caramel Delite ever since that little girl left my stoop. Remember when they used to be call Samoas? I hope they come soon.
  9. Huh, I thought that was just my crappy computer struggling to keep up with technology. I hope that's improved.
  10. I've had MLB.TV the last 2 years and I like it. It allows me to sit and watch the games with my girlfriend while she watches whatever she wants on TV. It looks like they knocked around $10 off the price too. As far as blackouts go, you can go to the link MassHass provided and type in your zipcode to find out which teams are blacked out for you. They used to determine your location based on the billing information associated with the credit card that you pay with. Therefore, I WAS able to watch the Brewers on MLBTV when visiting Wisconsin. Maybe that's changed....
  11. I need some opinions on league expansion: The league is expanding from 8 to 10 teams. It's a standard 5 x 5 h2h league. We keep 3 players (1 pitcher) My question is, where should the expansion teams pick in the draft? They'll get good keepers like Cabrera, Teixera, Rollins, Hamilton, Peavy, and Hamels. So they are not at any disadvantage as far as player quality. Should they pick last? First? In the middle somewhere?
  12. So, what do you make of this? "Temporary credit for home buyers: The bill increases the size of an existing temporary and refundable first-time home buyer credit to $8,000, up from $7,500. It also removes the requirement under current law that the credit be paid back if the buyer stays in the home for at least three years. And it would extend the credit's expiration date to Dec. 1, 2009, from July 1. Those eligible for this credit must have purchased a home after Jan. 1, 2009, and before Dec. 1, 2009." It removes the requirement under current law that the credit be paid back, but to be eligible you must have purchased after Jan. 1 2009? Isn't that kind of contradictory? Link
  13. Ok, sorry, but I'm financially illiterate it seems. If I bought my house in July of 2008 I can claim the $7500 tax credit on my '08 taxes (ie, right now) and it won't have to be repaid? Does that seem about right (as far as you can tell from what you've read)?
  14. Selig hasn't ruled out suspending ARod. Yes Bud, a player finally admits to something, so let's suspend him for something that wasn't even being penalized until 2004. I imagine the Players Association would finally come to A-Rods side if Bud tried to suspend him. Link
  15. It'll be sweet if they allow those who purchased after April of '08 to claim the credit without repay. We weren't going to claim it because we see ourselves moving in 5 years or so and if our house value stays around the same (or god forbid, goes down), we'd likely have to owe a sizeable chunk of money if and when we sell.
  16. I'm new to this thread, but I thought I'd pass on two beers I enjoyed this weekend: Rogue Yellow Snow IPA (on tap!)- Fruity and hoppy, but very smooth. Rogue is so expensive in liquor stores ($12-13 for a 6er), but I'll always try them on tap ($4.50 a pint in this case) Sierra Nevada ESB (Early Spring Beer) - Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a staple beer for me, so I'll always try their seasonals and I enjoyed this one very much
  17. They'll need them for trade bait at the deadline, or to fill in for injuries. They'd be silly to give them up cheaply at this point.
  18. Maybe you unknowingly violated one of their rules? You said the topic was controversial and maybe one of their mods took it down. I know little about blogging so maybe this doesn't happen.
  19. That Geico has decided to change its "spokesman" from a talking Gecko to a stack of money with plastic eyeballs seems like a weird choice. Not that it wasn't time for a change, but a stack of money? Really? Someone got paid to come up with that? I actually kind of like it in a strange way.
  20. 64. The number of major league homers for JJ (the number is probably random and has no significance to JJ, doesn't it).
  21. I knew CC would pick Milwaukee!!! Seriously though, he can back up 3 infield positions and always gives a good AB.
  22. I did not enjoy last night's episode very much. One of the worse ones I can remember. I do usually watch them twice (I like them better the 2nd time usually), but I might not bother with this one.
  23. Anyone else think TH's guess of $18 million seem low (I know he said a minimum of...)? Best case scenario is that Prince gets $7 million this year. That's $11 million for next year. I would bet Boras asks for about $15 million next year (assuming Prince's production doesn't fall off) I would think a 2 year deal would be closer to $20-21 million and there being little chance of it being under $20.
