  1. I'm a FBB junkie. I spend entirely too much time on draft prep and am also stoked for the season to start. ESPN is opening up leagues next week and my league's keepers will be coming in shortly after that. I like most of the pitchers you mentioned and am really excited to see you link Razzball. In my opinion, it's hands down the best fantasy baseball website out there. A good mix of fantasy analysis and fantastic wit! Here's how I'd rank those pitchers: Ubaldo, Nolasco, Billingsley, Kershaw, Lackey, Garza and Jurrjens. I might even have Nolasco a little higher than Ubaldo on draft day. I'm not as high on Kershaw as most just yet. He'll have to cut his walks quite a bit to stay in games longer and earn Ws. I think 2011 is the year he starts dominating. My keeper league is in its 4th year and I'm very fortunate to be keeping ARod, Hanley and Lincecum. Not a bad start. It's a h2h league so unfortunately I ran into some bad luck last year and got knocked out of the playoffs right away. I'll be picking 6th and am leaning towards taking Ellsbury, though Sizemore could be there too. As a Razzball reader, I'm sure you've read all about Julio Borbon. Any opinons of him? I kind of want to pass on Ellsbury and take Borbon who could come close to equaling Ellsbury's stats (at a much later draft pick). What do you think Borbons stats will be if he gets 650 PAs?
  2. I was wondering about the name too. Considering they have a TV network by the same name, I bet it stays the Big 10. What about the Big 11 logo though? Someone could probably make a lot of money if they could somehow make a hidden 12 in there somehow. I hope this happens. A Big 10 football title game would be so sweet.
  3. I was really disappointed by the clip show. Not just because it was "a clip show." Michael's character is so unbelievable anymore - he's just really hard to like. Archer is fantastic. I saw the pilot episode a few months ago on FX and am really glad I remembered to watch it last week.
  4. I agree. And it's possible Manny starts the year in the minors. Let's hope Suppan gets moved to the pen though!
  5. The thing I hate most about living in central Illinois is the lack of snow removal by citizens. The problem is there are no laws requiring snow removal so 90% of people don't do it. We've had ONE snow storm this winter. We got 3-4 inches the day after Christmas. Most people didn't shovel, it partially melted and near 0 temperatures have covered the sidewalks with ice. I can't believe I haven't fallen yet when walking my dog. These people don't know how to deal with winter! We're supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow tonight. Most people probably won't be in to work until 10 and I know the sidewalks won't be cleared until it all melts away. (This should probably be in the "What's bugging me" thread, eh?)
  6. Remember, Jack Z was a scout and had no problems with his top starting pitching prospect moving to the closers position at a strange time of the year (not far before the start of the '09 season if I recall). Jack is betting that Morrow can't/won't reach his potential and is getting some pieces for him now. That being said, I thought they could have gotten a more highly touted prospect.
  7. I guess the M's are swapping Silva with the Cubs for Bradley. They probably will want to hang to Morrow now.
  8. Schaub is playing a terrible team in a dome. I'd go with him. Mendy and DeWill Jennings, Jackson and Nicks
  9. This trade is insane. Some or all of Blanton, Happ and Drabek could be involved with Philly potentially getting Aumont. This thing is huge
  10. Probably around 6 years and $100-120M. He's arguably just as good as CC, but a couple years older.
  11. Dang it Jack Z! Any guesses on what the M's are going to have to give up? I'm sure Morrow is in the deal. Beyond that I have no idea. It will be interesting to see what the Phils are giving up with Lee. I'm assuming they'll send a prospect Toronto's way. Toronto is apparently throwing in some cash towards Halladay's '10 salary.
  12. Not sure why the Phils wouldn't want a rotation with Halladay, Lee and Hamels, but maybe it's a money thing. Maybe Halladay is more sign-able than Lee? If he really is available I would love to get him for a year.
  13. Now that Harden is signed and it doesn't sound like Sheets is a realistic option, I too am all for Duchscherer. He didn't pitch at all last year and made $3.9M in that year. I assume any contract signed would have lots of incentives included in it. What kind of guaranteed money will he get? Would $3.5M guaranteed with incentives that would carry it over $8M seem reasonable? Could we afford that?
  14. I guess this means it's official (maybe?): From MLBTR 11:22am: Yahoo's Tim Brown tweets that the Brewers will agree with Wolf today on a three-year deal worth just under $30MM.
  15. This seems like a typical Cardinals signing. I liked Penny for the Brewers this year, but $7.5M guaranteed? That seems really high. I do fully expect him to be dominant with the Cards.
  16. This is the first I've seen the Nationals linked to Hardy: Link It doesn't sound like they were seriously interested and I doubt they would have sent us any pitching prospects, but I wonder if they would have given up Dukes. Dukes obviously has his (personal) flaws, but he would have interested me. edit: I had Milledge in there too, but I forgot he got traded
  17. I like the idea of Dwight's plan to take down Jim using an Employee of the Month award, but the execution was poor. I was hoping for a much more elaborate plan from Dwight that would have eventually failed him at the end (like it did). I just don't buy that A). Jim would have fallen for Dwight's system and B). that the other employees would have actually given money towards the EOTM award. Its not like its an office NCAA basketball pool or anything. It will be interesting to see where they take this Dwight/Ryan vs. Jim thing. The tots part was pretty funny and I'm starting to like Erin's character a lot.
  18. Sheets, but I have a feeling that bridge has been burned. Anyone want to take a stab at the contracts this group will command? In my perfect world, we would have the money to sign 2 of these guys (I'd prefer Sheets and Harden) to one year deals (maybe with an option) at around $4-6 million a piece. In reality I think Melvin might sign one of these guys and a "safer" pitcher. I'd rather go the high reward route and hope that 2 of Sheets, Harden, and Mulder (assuming he signs) pan out for us
  19. Those numbers are startling. Wolves, coyotes, harsh winters, and EAB are probably all to blame. Not sure why a 16 day season would be a good idea now. I feel fortunate to have gotten a nice buck and seen a decent number of deer this year.
  20. Well, this product looks like the easiest fix. It's non-shock: LINK
  21. If she's been getting away with it her whole life it's a habit that will probably be hard to break. When I was a kid we had a dog that would get on the furniture after we left the house, but wouldn't attempt it when we were home. We put the dining room chairs on the coaches to keep her off. I would make sure she has a nice bed on the floor that she likes to sleep in. Teach her the "off" command and be consistent and patient with her. You could try confining her to a room without furniture and then give her more space as she progresses. Keep some of her favorite toys put away when you're home. Then when you leave, give them to her and she'll have something to do when she's alone. Have any tips on how to stop a dog from eating toilet paper?
  22. The Duke is a free agent. I think they mean that Beane won't try and re-sign him. I'd take him at the right price though
  23. This seems way too random and pointless to start a new thread: I'm planning on making crock pot lasagna. My grocery store was out of sweet Italian sausage. I do have some brats at home, however. Would the brats work well in lasagna (after the casings are removed obviously)? They might even be mild italian sausage, in which case they'd probably work just fine. So, in other words...is sausage sausage?
  24. If we could flip Gomez and a handful of prospects to Detroit for Granderson and Jackson that would be, well awesome. But its probably just a dream.
  25. He was really bad with the Sox, but had a 2.59 ERA in SanFran. The overall "bad season" he had should keep him priced relatively low and could be a good value signing (really not sure how much he should get on the market to be honest). He posted FIPs between 3.56-3.92 from 2003-2007. Not sure what happened in 2008, but I'm thinking he must have been hurt at some point. His fastball averaged 94 MPH this year - the highest of his career so I think he still "has it".
