Just a big smile opportunity when the Brewers score with "bat on ball" baseball. I'm also happy that 3 pitchers have gone 1-3. I've always been a "position player in the 1st round" guy ... I'll like it if one of these top tier fellas can fall to 12.
When looking at those stats you have to remember that 2 of those 3 home runs came from Braun on Friday and McGehee off of Kerry Wood... take those two out and our slugging drops quite a bit. (edit: fixed link in quote --1992)
Nieves is just a head scratcher at this point. No reason Kottaras shouldn't be up and on this team right now. With Wilson and Gomez we can't use the "don't have a righty on the bench" excuse anymore... I wish, wish, wish that Kotsay had any ounce of power left in him...
So I knew Yo had 8 and Marcum had 6 wins so I looked at our starters this season and saw we have 25 wins among them. That means we are on pace to have our starters win between 68 and 69 games this season. I don't know where to find the answer, other than going through and counting... but when was the last time we came close to a number like that for a season?
I think if last night's game taught us anything ... it is the value of having a guy on your bench who can tie/go ahead/win the game with one swing. Bill Hall shouldn't start games anymore .. but he can do the exact same thing that Josh Wilson can (with a few more positions to boot) ... but 10% more of his hits are going to leave the ballpark (in comparison with JW). If the contracts are equal (league minimum for both guys) ... I don't see how anyone can argue that Wilson is the better choice over Hall given what their roles would be on our team. Right now the only guy on our bench that can hit the ball out of the park is Dale Sveum ... I think Hall would fill a need. Go get him.
Can anyone define what "future considerations" means? Does it mean we will decide between money and a player later... or does it mean that they "owe us one"...
My favorite part was when he was talking about Kent getting hit with the foul ball and said.. Ueck: "Who hit that ball Kent?"*you hear mumbling in the background*Ueck: "Tony Phillips?"*you hear a mumbled acknowledgement*Ueck: "Tony Phillips never did like you, Kent..."
