  1. He will be cheered by 95%+ of the crowd as he should be. Whatever you are suggesting he did wrong is, in fact, wrong. Comparing him to Craig is absolutely unfair to Adames. Adames has far more right to boo us/the front office than we have to boo him.
  2. I was at the game Friday night and left thinking "that was about as boring/bad a baseball game as I've seen in a good while". Then watched the game last night on TV and was really happy I got the Friday game instead. Go Crew.
  3. Hoskins playing himself into a tradeable asset is such a nice surprise after the start of the season we all had.
  4. It is still early and we have a few runs in us yet ... but if the Cubs play good baseball through June this is shaping up to be a punt of a season. Let's get all of our trade pieces healthy and reload that system, then bring up all of the young arms and let them grind through the summer. Heal up Quintana! Need you to bring us back a young outfielder come July :)
  5. So if the Brewers agree with you that this is a 75-80 win team ... doesn't that swing the decision making towards NOT calling these kids up earlier than necessary and letting them develop appropriately? Let's use Wilken as the example, if his 'natural progression', whatever that means, has him competing for a roster spot in Spring Training '26... what would a two month extended call up do for us and him this season other than speed up his service clock? If he plays really well it would make us a 77 win team instead of 75? Wouldn't this year be the perfect time to give guys like Ernesto Martinez a chance to show if they have it rather than rushing the kid you already have penciled into your future plans? If 82 wins is going to win the division then bring the whole artillery to win games .. but the Cubs look like a 90+ win team so if the all star break hits and we are a below .500 squad ... let the kids grow in the minors and bring up the fringe guys to flush out who can help us next year.
  6. So Made is in Carolina right now, which is our low A affiliate. For him to join Milwaukee we would be jumping him past Appleton (High A), Biloxi (Double A) and Nashville (Triple A). I think the previous poster is asking about him because I can't imagine that kind of movement, especially for a position player, has happened ever in the last 20 years. Someone can help me out but Harper might be the fastest mover I can remember? Soto? They both debuted at 19 I think. Made turned 18 just a few days ago. It would be sensational if Made played well enough this year to garner a few at bats in Biloxi before the year is over. The other two guys we can quarrel over.
  7. I typically enjoy your contributions, but you know full well this isn't it. By my count, in the last twenty years 12 different teams have won a World Series. I have no idea how many teams "had a real chance" during that time but I would say we could make an argument that we have had at least 3 teams that could have gotten it done. We should get rid of the Brewers and baseball in Milwaukee because we are on the smaller side and baseball needs to contract? I can't tell you how much fun I've had being a fan of an annual underdog that overachieves ... you are going to take that from me and the rest of us because we haven't won a title? What are you talking about?
  8. When will Arnold start getting criticized? I'm assuming you have not been perusing this board for the last 6 months? The Quinn Priester trade thread has 190ish comments and not many smiley faces. The Devin Williams trade thread has 240 comments and not a ton on smiley faces. The Shane Smith thread has a bazillion comments and had to get moved because it was an issue taking over the board on a daily basis. The left side of our infield/Capra/Dunn/Ortiz has been one the most widely discussed topics. Just read through a few threads man!
  9. Of all the guys who needed to see one fly... if he isn't Exhibit 1A he is definitely exhibit 1B.
  10. And that'll do it. Enjoy your afternoon everyone!
  11. Wouldn't be surprised if Vinny has a nice day at the plate.
  12. Isaac Collins now up to .5 WAR on the season in his limited time: Isaac Collins Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Rookie Status & More | Baseball-Reference.com Yelich, meanwhile, has been a replacement level player thus far: Christian Yelich Stats, Height, Weight, Position, Rookie Status & More | Baseball-Reference.com I'm assuming Yelich will still start today against the LHP if Sal is hurt, but we have to drop him in the order. All of the strikeouts in the 3 hole are such an unneccessary self-inflicted handicap each game. He has a 40% k rate against LHP in 2025 :( Start Daz and Collins, pinch hit Yeli in a good place against a RHP at some point or just give him the day off. We can't keep that production in the 3 spot. I hope this post does what it is supposed to.
  13. Is that Jorge Alfaro's music?
  14. Hey if this is the way they are going to roll it makes salvaging nights easier. If the Brewers give up 3 in the first it is likely a 9-2 loss so I can just head out and catch a show somewhere :)
  15. So.. I remember Jesus Aguilar going through a huge spell years ago when he was 3 for 1000 or whatever it was. I remember him breaking a bat and blooping a single somewhere late in a game and the dugout erupted and he had this big cheesy smile. I remember whoever was calling the game saying something like "now that the weight is off, he can just focus on hitting..." or something silly like that. I remember him going like 3-5 with 2 nukes the next night. Just saying for the gamblers out there if Capra is in the lineup tomorrow ... he is going yard.
  16. From dead weight to trade bait: the Rhys Hoskins story.
  17. I know situations are situational but again, that run is kind of on Bauers being unselfish. He takes the free base bunt that is offered to him, which ultimately clears Capra in the inning and gets Contreras a 2 out opportunity in the next inning that he cashes in on. *Edit* Yeli bomb. 3 runs that are *kind of* because of good non box score baseball by Jake Bauers.
  18. Yeah, Capra -> Mona should happen 30 seconds after the game. Let Capra get regular at bats and start seeing the ball again in Nashville.
  19. That bunt attempt by that type of player should happen 80% more than it does in baseball. If you are a LHB and you aren't tearing the cover off the baseball and they give you first base with their defense ... take it every time. Good job Bauers.
  20. MLB player development and major league roster manipulation will forever fascinate me because it is such an imperfect science that few to none master. It is an awesome conversation because I am not sure it has a correct answer. Is the purpose of minor league development to get all of the guys to the big leagues or is it actually to just get them to a place where they become coveted enough to be tradeable? With the flame out rate so high each time guys graduate each level... is it always or almost always worth trading excess value from the minors to get major league experience? Would you rather take a chance on a young major league player who hasn't figured it out at the MLB level but has the tools vs a rising MiLB player who is outperforming his projection? I don't want to make this a novel ... but there is so much more. It's one of my favorite conversations around baseball.
  21. I know this sounds easy to say after the fact... but when I heard Alexander was starting my first thought was "oh dang, I hope Priester didn't get whatever bug is going around.." and then immediately thought "no, Murphy is probably trying to do the Counsell thing and start a lefty so the Cubs load up on RHB and then switch to Priester after an inning or something stupid like that.." I think Murphy out thought himself a bit.
  22. I am just getting here and have no desire to go back and read through the game thread so if this was mentioned I apologize AND THIS IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR ANYBODY but I don't love the "opener" thing if you have a starter planned to come in after. If it's a bullpen game, then fine. Those guys do that. But let the starter have his routine. I know, I know. Just saying..
  23. Oh sorry, I was referring to the 19 innings he had pitched with Milwaukee up until that point.
