  1. I'm here. Woodruff sitting 88-89 on the scoreboard. I've seen 90 twice. Off speed 79-80.
  2. There are a lot of reasons why making a minimal upgrade any position in a season like this would be very beneficial to the Brewers both for this year and moving forward ... none of which have anything to do with making a deep playoff run.
  3. This is a great find, I forgot about Urias. He wouldn't cost much either. What is Ortiz' options look like? I wouldn't mind him getting a full August of at bats down in a Nashville to just swing through his issues and then come back for the stretch run if ready.
  4. Man, a couple more Durbin and Ortiz hits and our entire lineup will be above .200 - we are living in luxury my friends.
  5. Am I asking too much to want Bauers to get to that ball? I wonder what the catch rate will be on that one..
  6. I mean, I trust he is sick and physically cannot ... because what are we doing otherwise? I better eat crow for this..
  7. Everyone in the history of the world knew Ortiz was squaring up there. That was tough to watch.
  8. If nothing else, great job from Haase and Bauers battling back from 0-2 counts to make Sugano throw a bunch of pitches in the inning.
  9. I understand and that's why I was directing my response at the thought and not to you directly.
  10. My response is to this line of thinking in general, not to you personally.. .. but why stop there? Why not put up his entire $1 billion+ portfolio outside of the protection of the business and sign Soto and Fried? He has the assurance that even though he would be personally funding 100% of that additional cost of operation he would be getting only 40% of the additional uptick in value IF that team ascends in value (and of course, that is only if he sells his portion to liquidate that asset to get his money back). Are ticket prices to high, too?
  11. I'll be curious to see the MPH off the bat on that one ... I don't know that we've seen Sal hit a ball much harder.
  12. Ok, then let's be consistent. If we are protecting Priester then we need to protect Ortiz and limit his at bats against tough match ups and we can't give Capra 60 at bats and we can't have Yelich in the 3 hole, etc etc If we are trying to "maximize" our lineup then do it. If we are going to let everyone work their way out of their struggles... then do it.
  13. I promise I understand what is happening. Everything I said still remains. There is a big difference to me in protecting a 33yr old journeyman that you are hoping to eat innings for you during a season and 'protecting' a 24yr old kid that we need to be a part of our rotation for the next half decade. Priester needs to get bruised up and needs to learn from it. This is the year to learn while we are down. If he can't get guys out he can't be here. We need to find out if he can.
  14. I get it. Then make him a reliever. If you want him to throw 5-6 innings for you he has to face them 2-3 times anyway. If we are afraid of him facing certain hitters, then add him to the long relief pile. If you want him to start for you, let him start for you.
  15. I will say this until I'm blue in the face. If you have a starter, let him start. Give him his routine. Let him jump over the painted chalk lines on his way out to the bullpen to warm up and take 4 steps on the warning track when he walks in and do 6 hand claps with the catcher or whatever it is he fancies to do ... Stop breaking the routine up for a kid that needs a routine. This is not excusing Priester ... but stop being cute. Great that Z got outs, but stop making it different for the other guy.
  16. Ok, fair enough. Respectfully then I cannot commit any more brain power to this convo. Carry on.
  17. I genuinely don't know if you are doing this whole thread/opinion as a rib to all of us or if this is how you truly have interpreted the situation.
