  1. I mainly use iTunes or just pick up CD's from local record stores, but eMusic is a really nice place to purchase indie/indie rock-type music. Their subscription prices are reasonable and often come with an added 50-100 free downloads on top of your first month's plan. Also, they allow you to cancel your subscription at any time, so you could conceivably download approximately 8+ albums-worth of music for a price as low as $15, and then keep or cancel your subscription based on your music needs.
  2. I remember reading an interesting parallel between the story of Odysseus, as a warrior in the Trojan War and his subsequent years-long return to his home, and Desmond, as a warrior in the war against Charles Whidmore (for Penny) in his boat race around the world (and his subsequent years-long return to home). Perhaps that could play an intriguing part in the storyline?
  3. I really have enjoyed many posters' contributions in the year and a half I have spent as a member of the forum. It's hard to narrow down, but I've enjoyed what And That, brettac, and FTJ have brought to the table. Honestly, I haven't run across many posts that I didn't find at least somewhat insightful here, so kudos to all.
  4. 86-76, a narrow miss on the playoffs. Rickie finally stops teasing us and breaks out, but it's just not quite enough to get us over the edge. Phils squeak into the WC with an 88-74 record.
  5. I'm at 43-29-2 since this play-period started (January 1, I believe). My streak right now is at 1, though, unfortunately.
  6. In all fairness, if someone steps in my light during the day, I find myself incredibly frustrated. All jokes aside, it was a major tongue-lashing, but nothing I wouldn't expect from a method actor. From what I've read, they were in the midst of shooting a very emotional and intense scene, and I'm sure that boiled over into the situation a bit. Take into account the long hours they put in while shooting and you've got a recipe for a member of the crew and an actor to get into a scuffle over a seemingly trivial thing.
  7. Happy to help - also, an MGD sounds terrific. = )
  8. I saw it yesterday at the Oriental. I enjoyed the movie -- I really enjoyed Rourke's performance.
  9. Radiohead's In Rainbows was an incredible album to listen to while driving at night during the summer. It just fit eerily well with the mood of the night. Daytime, though, belongs to a healthy mix of upbeat indie tunes, usually.
  10. SM, you've had a fantastic attitude throughout this and you're really an inspiration. I'm so happy that you're doing well, and keep up the great attitude!
  11. I'm a fan of finding huge clearances on CC jerseys at Southridge. Got myself a late little Christmas present.
  12. I'm a UWM student, but I'm not on the East Side at the moment, so I won't be able to attend. Go Panthers!
  13. Hopefully the sequence that shows the pink jogging suit doesn't last for an unbearable 45 seconds in this new version.
  14. Punch-Out is like food to me - what can I say? Although, Punch-Out is more like operant conditioning than classical conditioning for me: the more it frustrates me, the more I want to play (positive punishment).
  15. Happy New Year to all! I hope that all of your aspirations can be fulfilled this year.
  16. I've been playing Punch-Out so much lately. Seeing that is making my mouth water.
  17. In Wii Sports (if that's what you were referring to), the actual arm motions are the key to playing the sports games. In other games, such as MLB 2K9 or Madden, you will have to check the manual to see what the control schemes are, but more often than not Wii games attempt to incorporate the Wii Remote's motion-sensing capabilities, so it's a good bet that some sort of motions will be involved.
  18. I actually laughed out loud when I read this. Thanks for the pick-me-up, FtJ. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Oh, and I downloaded Mega Man 9 yesterday and played it and echo the earlier sentiment: it's a great buy. Really challenging like the earliest Mega Man games, and not too much of a burden on the wallet.
  19. Resident Evil 4 for the Wii is perhaps the best game I've ever played in my life. The control scheme, after a 30-minute learning curve, is very intuitive, and the story is great. Other titles I've enjoyed are Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart, Super Mario Strikers, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
  20. The Radiohead, Bon Iver and MGMT albums are all technically 2007 releases. I left Radiohead off my list because of its digital release in 2007, but I broke my own rule with MGMT because I hadn't heard it until 2008 (and I kind-of base my year-end lists off of what I had last year, to a point). Bon Iver's album, however, was only self-released during 2007 and then later received a wider release in 2008, so I'm tempted to think of it as a 2008 release as most of the critics have done this year. They're just so weirdly out of character for the band to the point where it really affected my enjoyment of the disc. They still put on a legendary live show regardless of what I think of some of the source material and their October 3rd show at the Riverside in Milwaukee was probably the highlight of my concert-going life. I hear that - however, I just really dug portions of that album. Very strong, true rock and roll music. It's no Z (I'll definitely agree with you there), but it's definitely not a bad record. Also, in a two-week span, I saw that MMJ show at the Riverside, followed by Ryan Adams at the Overture Hall in Madison two days later, and Fleet Foxes the following week at the Pabst Theatre. MMJ was the epitome of what a rock and roll show is supposed to be, and blew the other two artists out of the water (an especially substantial feat, as both Ryan Adams and Fleet Foxes are considered strong live acts).
  21. Actually, she's just a friend who claims that he is the one (when the kid is not his son). In all seriousness, though, I've read conflicting reports about Jacko. Some say that he really is in dire health, while others state from "inside sources" that he is fine, playing with his kids and still as wacky as ever.
  22. Album-wise: 1.) Fleet Foxes, Fleet Foxes/Sun Giant EP (they're both so good, and I can't choose between them, so I'll just combine them for listing purposes) 2.) Bon Iver, For Emma, Forever Ago 3.) Blitzen Trapper, Furr 4.) Okkervil River, The Stand Ins 5.) Beach House, Devotion 6.) MGMT, Oracular Spectacular 7.) Girl Talk, Feed The Animals 8.) Ra Ra Riot, The Rhumb Line 9.) M83 - Saturdays = Youth 10.) TV On The Radio, Dear Science Other albums I enjoyed: Conor Oberst, Conor Oberst My Morning Jacket, Evil Urges Portishead, Third Deerhunter, Microcastle Department of Eagles, In Ear Park Frightened Rabbit, The Midnight Organ Fight Shearwater, Rook Vampire Weekend, Vampire Weekend Elbow, The Seldom Seen Kid I'm sure I missed a few albums that I dug over the past year, so I might edit this later, but that's a pretty good idea of what I was into, I suppose. Song-wise (in rough preferential order): Fleet Foxes, "Drops In The River" Bon Iver, "Re: Stacks" Blitzen Trapper, "Furr" Fleet Foxes, "Sun It Rises" M83, "Kim & Jessie" Bon Iver, "Skinny Love" MGMT, "Kids" My Morning Jacket, "Thank You Too" Conor Oberst, "Get-Well-Cards" Fleet Foxes, "White Winter Hymnal"
  23. To be fair, the NHL's commissioner explained that the suspension was based on a series of missteps by Avery over the past year and a half or so. Do I think that's fair? Not necessarily. Do I think Avery is a punk and probably had it coming? Yes. That being said, I laughed when I read the comments.
  24. I don't think Christian Bale would allow himself to be in a sub-par movie, so I will continue to have high expectations for it, despite what I may or may not hear about the film before it comes out.
  25. When you plug your iPod in to the USB port and it starts to "sync" with your iTunes, click on your iPod in iTunes' sidebar. I'm not sure if this is exactly correct since my iPod is already formatted for Mac and I don't have the options associated with changing it anymore, but I believe you have to restore your iPod to factory settings first, then format it with the Macintosh format, and then resync your music.
