  1. So what teams out there need a closer? I think the Brewers could potentially get a decent prospect for K-Rod to a team that would want him for one season. Don't the Red Sox need one?
  2. I think every Brewer site out their will be in full meltdown mode, and for good reason. If he comes back, I could see him getting the Wes Helms treatment on opening day.
  3. Why are those the only options? I think trading for a guy like Cliff Pennington, Jason Bartlett or Jed Lowrie to name a few, could also be potential options. I will lose a lot of interest in the team if Yuni and Casey are back. I can't see that happening.
  4. I'd like to see Rollins signed, and a trade for Chase Headley. I'm conflicted on Aramis Ramirez, he sometimes looks like a great talent but other times is a very frustrating player to watch. He is a big time gamble.
  5. What about Edgar Renteria at SS? It seems like his fielding numbers are still decent, and he has hit lefties pretty well the last couple seasons. We'd probably have to sign somebody like Punto too, because I don't think we'd be able to rely on him to play every day.
  6. Yeah, I think he'll get over paid, and I'm not advocating going after him, but I think they'll try to sign him.
  7. I just read on MlBTR that the Phillies have backed off of Cuddyer. I know Melvin expressed interest earlier in the offseason, and I think he will be an option for the Brewers as a 3b/1b candidate.
  8. I'm making a general bullpen thread, since I've seen multiple reports that we are looking at a couple of different pitchers. I just saw on mlbtraderumors.com that we are interested in Octavio Dotel. I've also hear that we are interested in bringing back Takashi Saito.
  9. Haurdicourt mentions in the most recent jsonline blog that the Brewers are interested in Aramis and he is shown interest in playing for the Brewers.
  10. The Brewers would then have a ton of money and years going forward tied up into hoping that Braun and Prince stay both healthy and productive over the vast majority of their contracts. It also would seem to really decrease the odds of extending Greinke. I understand the appeal of keeping Prince and i won't be upset if it happens, but i just think that 6 years at that dollar amount is to risky, especially that he'd go from a defensive liability at firstbase to a massive liability that needed to be a DH. The only factor that i'm unsure about is exactly how much more money does the new cable deal with FSN bring in each year and thus will it lead to larger payrolls going forward so that Braun/Prince wouldn't be eating up roughly 40 percent of the payroll just by themselves? I believe w/ a core of Braun, Fielder, Gallardo and Greinke all going through their prime the next 5 seasons, we would always have a chance of making the playoffs. The key would be filling out the rest of our roster w/ our minor league system, and by trading vets like Marcum, Wolf, Weeks and Hart for younger cheaper talented players. It would be risky, but I think it would be the best plan.
  11. I'd be pretty excited if we brought back Prince for 6 years 120.
  12. Sorry to hear this, I was hoping he would breakout in the majors this season. Hopefully he has a quick and full recovery.
  13. I thought Jared Bergerren was great last night, I was pleasantly surprised to see him outplay Zeller. I think the Badgers proved they are going to be a tough team to beat this season.
  14. The Bucks would probably also have to get a 1st round pick, or decent player in return, but barring another serious injury Bynum has the potential to be a great center, and is 3 years younger than Bogut. It wouldn't be the worst trade ever.
  15. I think the Jamal Crawford thing was just a guess by an SI writer. Gery Woelfel just had an article that said the Bucks have contacted the agents for Caron Butler and Joel Pryzbilla. I've always loved Butlers game, but it scares me that both these guys are coming off major injuries.
  16. Went to UW vs. UMKC game last night, and the Badgers looked very solid, much better than the game vs. Colgate. I really like Ben Brust, I think he is going to be a big time player. I can't wait to see how they look vs. UNC and Marquette.
  17. I would love to get him, but I think it will take way more than that to get him. He's had two almost ace like seasons and is only 25 and is locked up until 2016.
  18. I think he can still have just as big of a part in baseball history even if he leaves Milwaukee. Its easy to say things like that as a fan, but I guarantee if you were in that situation it would be hard to turn down millions of dollars.
  19. Congrats to Ryan Braun, well deserved. Its amazingly awesome to have two players in the top 3 MVP voting. Now hopefully we can bring Prince back to keep this special combination together.
  20. But don't you think we'd be ok between the guys we would get for Hart, Wolf, Marcum and McGehee, and the guys that are close to ready in Gamel, Green, Gindl, Schaefer, Peralta, Fiers and so on?
  21. Heres what I think I would do, although it would involve a lot of work, and is probably unrealistic. Trade Wolf, Hart, McGehee and possibly even dangle Marcum. From those trades acquire as much young cheap talent as we possibly can to fill the SS, SP, RF and bullpen roles as we possibly can. Then w/ the savings, lock up Greinke and Prince to long term deals. To me if we have a core of Prince, Braun, Gallardo and Greinke, and then fill in w/ cheap talent in the other spots for the next 5 years or so we will always have a chance to make the playoffs. Oh and to answer the topic question, I would give him 5 years 120 or so.
  22. I watched Marquette dismantle Ole Miss last night, and it was very fun to watch. They have a very deep and talented roster this year. I think they will be in the top 3 of the big east for sure, w/ a chance at winning it. Jae Crowder is an absolute beast this season. I can't wait to see the Wisconsin vs. Marquette game. I'm a fan of both teams, but I think Marquette is going to have the better team this season.
  23. That would be cool. Does this guy have any credability?
  24. I like that idea, Murphy seems to be a pretty good defender, especially at 3b, and can hit pretty well also. What do you think it would take to get him?
