  1. This is just as bad as your whole "disrespecting the game" crap you had to say when the Cubs pitched Jon Jay. It's no more disrespectful that trotting Peralta out there Rock. Right?! I'm pretty sure our starter gave up 6 HRs, so yeah... I mean, pitchers stand up there and try to hit every game so I don't see a position player pitching as much different.
  2. Despite the cold stretch of late, the first 80 game really did happen. This team is still better than what many are giving them credit for. I really believe they are only a few players away. Those pieces might not come this season but Stearns has managed to put together a competitive team during a rebuild and build a deep farm system. Brinson homers for the 2nd straight!! Hopefully he's one of the missing pieces. I think they still need a TOR starter and a couple bullpen arms along with some consistency at 2B. The encouraging part is it's quite possible most of those items could be met internally. They payroll is low so they have room to spend as well. Nelson continues to impress. He handcuffed a really good Nationals lineup in their home park. Watching him throw, he's not the same pitcher he was in the past. I'm confident that he's a 1-2 starter going forward. It's close people!! Hold out another year yet, instead of bashing Stearns for actually putting together a competitive group without having to endure a 100 loss season.
  3. oh my...impressive, lol.... At least he's been efficient. Keep him in there. He's got a good 50 pitches left in him.
  4. Brinson is back up (hopefully to stay!), Swarzak is on his way, Hader dominated Harper showing he's indeed one of the team's best arms, 1st place is a win away and there's still 10 more to go against that 1st place team. What's not to be excited about? A day game tomorrow. Scherzer should be on the ropes by the 5th inning; he's never beaten Blazek. 2 of 3 on the road against the Nats will be a nice turn around as we head home for a big series!
  5. Yeah, selling now is a tough sell being right in the thick of things and with 10 games left with the Cubs (take that as good or bad but that gives them a chance). I mean they'd have to kind of announce they're selling I'd think to start generating offers while being a bit late to the game. They could certainly listen on Knebel and Thames, but outside of those two I don't see anybody else in a spot to really sell and get any sort of significant return.
  6. He went with his "gut" earlier in the inning and Nelson walked the batter on 4-straight (no complaints at all by keeping Nelson in). Perhaps that made him go more by the book? Yeah, I could see that. Judgement call and easy to judge after the fact I guess. It was encouraging to see Hader perform like he did. Hopefully he's in the mix more going forward. Knebel, Hader, Swarzak and Barnes really could be a solid group yet.
  7. I can't get it out of my head. The thing is he was ready with him, which obviously was good. It was planned out and then Hader flat dominates one of the best hitters in baseball... everything is looking up, Hader has to be jacked up and he's obviously throwing well and then.... nah- give me HUGHES??? Because CC is the 1st manager ever to use match-ups late in games. Oh, I hadn't realized what was going on. CC is a good manager, I'm not really bashing him. I like Hughes just fine but it's not like he has some sort of ridiculous splits against RH or like Zimmerman can't hit Rhp. Sometimes given what you see in the actual game matters more than an obscure "odds" play.
  8. I can't get it out of my head. The thing is he was ready with him, which obviously was good. 9. I know this one hurts, but all is not lost here people. IF the 8th plays out a bit differently and the Brewers win the whole attitude is different. I know, shoulda, woulda, coulda, but they've gone toe to toe on the road against one of the best teams in the NL and ran into a bit of bad luck and then a poor decision and a meltdown in the 8th but even with the shaky pen that game should end up a win on most nights.. maybe that should've been in blue . I'm still optimistic I guess.
  10. Man, I like Counsel; he's done a great job but this one is really upsetting... Did he not just see what Hader did to Harper? Was he not paying attention??!! and then Hughes??? At least you go to Knebel!!!!
  11. Counsel overthinking this one. Why, why why do you take Hader out after he flat dominates Harper? I don't care about the matchups at that point.
  12. Taking him out after that? Knebel's been great and all but I'd keep Hader in here.
  13. Really, the balls that were beat into the ground that made it through the IF?
  14. Agreed. The sequencing of things is just weird and most likely it's nothing and it's weird just because people are imperfect and it's just the way it worked out. That said, if Garza is truly hurt would your first reaction be to call up Brinson? From the other side of things: you really needed Brinson up this series yet so badly that you pulled him mid-game... to face Gio today? Just all very bizarre, but it least we've had some entertainment out of it.
  15. This is my best guess as well. Yes, the timing is odd but that doesn't mean much. Probably just needing to meet to discuss who the moving parts will be.
  16. Nice road win. The team we all came to know and love is back... at least for a game
  17. Sounds like there's still some legit conversation here. I would still really like for a Kinsler/Wilson to happen.
  18. Hmm, I don't know but I'm cool with him just being here this season. Maybe they take a look as a FA, but I'd let the market decide what he's worth. His numbers look like he's figured something out this season but his limited track record makes me not really too interested in trying to extend a 30-something middle reliever for any significant amount of money.
  19. I agree, I think it's a clear indicator they are buying. At least to some extent. I would expect some additional moves. While the 20 innings or so he might pitch yet this season will be an improvement, it likely won't be enough to move the needle.
  20. Is it enough to push you off the board and/or internet? Not even close...I will wait until next Monday..but if this is his only move, I guarantee you I'm out. What a joke. Out as a fan? If you really want this team to compete this season it will take multiple acquisitions, imo. Swarzak has been better than Barnes so by the Brewers needs, it's a fairly decent add on their part.
  21. He's been quite good this season. If they can get him for a lower level guy, I'm all for it. For those of you who would like to see the Brewers make an effort to go for it this season, these are some of the potential moves you should be happy with as it's going to take multiple acquisition to solidify the roster enough to take a shot, imo.
  22. If that's true, I'm good with moving on. I'd be comfortable giving up that for Gray, but if that's on the table and has them moving on, then there must be some big offers available. We'll see. I could see it coming down to the deadline and having the Brewers back in the conversation depending on how the week goes.
