  1. I could definitely see Hall being DFA'd. Or a change of scenery type deal.
  2. I've actually been advocating this move to many of my friends and co-workers recently (even moving Cole Gillespie), so I'll have a little extra bragging rights for a couple days... Anyway, the Brewers have an accomplished leadoff hitter and an everyday 2B. Hopefully this means Mat Gamel has a certain future somewhere - I have to imagine he's back at AAA. This means McGehee or Counsell become valuable bench players depending on who starts at 3B. I like the move a lot.
  3. I don't really like McClung in this situation, but there aren't many alternatives with two innings remaining...
  4. Am I wrong to expect Hart to beat that out? Not knocking the guy or anything, but that seemed like a slow developing DP. That Hairston guy will just not go away.
  5. I kind of think that landed just over the wall but because of the godawful camerawork we've become accustomed to in Cincinnati no one saw it. Another horrible 0-2 pitch.
  6. Yeah, now I've got to do the PIP thing between the Watson show and the Brewers... Early trouble for Gallardo, what's new? Really awful 0-2 pitch to Hairston there. That guy is getting annoying.
  7. Tough AB by Hairston made that inning nervous. Great job by Parra.
  8. I'm glad Gamel's got a day off, he needs some time to rest. Early baserunners and high pitch count, sweet.
  9. Braun out, Catalanotto starting. I really wish Gerut would get a chance to break out of it...I guess with your 2nd best hitter out maybe it's not the best time.
  10. I didn't mean to come off as harsh or anything, but I just think about supposed asking prices for Halladay and I don't think that one comes close.
  11. They want quality, not quantity. There's one sure thing and no major league pitching in that offer. No way Toronto takes that. Plus the Brewers take on a ton of salary.
  12. Well yeah, the rotation is great with Halladay if they don't have to deal Parra. I want to wait and see what happens with Dave Bush before anything happens. If he's able to show he's okay before the deadline I don't think you do this trade. Someone said it before - they're not the Yankees. This is a ton of payroll they'd be taking on, especially if Rolen's involved. And though it's unlikely there's still the risk of him demanding a trade.
  13. They've got to be mega-confident with this year's draft, though I guess every team loves their draft at first...based on what they were asking from LA and St. Louis I don't want to think about the package the Brewers are going to have to come up with...on one hand I really don't want to trade away young and cheap near-major-league ready position players. On the other hand, Brewers fans have come out in droves and the organization wants and should reward that. Should be interesting to see what Toronto's going to ask for...
  14. Anyone catch Haudricourt's tweet? "Brewers haven't ruled out jumping in on Halladay. Check out my Brewers notebook at jsonline.com in the morning." I really have a hard time believing that one player, even one as good as Halladay, makes this team a World Series contender. And I can't think of any other reason to trade away multiple top-tier positional prospects. I just don't think the Brewers are in the position to make this deal. It would really be a gamble.
  15. The Brewers need the HR ball to score, and they haven't gotten it tonight. It's simple enough for me.
  16. I'm on board with the Cameron/Gamel switch, but I don't have a beef with the lineup tonight. I'm just not optimistic that Macha will stick with something...the double platoon makes it harder.
  17. Do you want the Brewers to bunt anytime they get someone on base? I see bunting when down by one, but early in game I guess I just dont think it is that advantageous. Now I know tonight is perfect night for the we need to bunt more crowd, with the double-play balls, but I have heard from many on this board that statistics show the bunt is not as effective as just letting a guy swing away. I like the bunt when dead ground-ball prone bats (another Kendall hit, nice timing on this argument) are at the plate with the best hitters on the team waiting in the on-deck circle.
  18. HR or bust Brewers. Atta Prince. HR #23 allowed by Looper. Ugh.
  19. Yeah, he mowed down the ever-feared Nederlands lineup.
  20. I cannot believe neither Kendall or Counsell were bunting. I just don't get it.
  21. Braden Looper is on pace to absolutely shatter his single-season HR allowed total. In two previous years of starting he's allowed 22 and 25. This year he's already allowed 22. Frightening.
  22. I don't understand this at all. How on earth is Mat Gamel going to get better at 3B if he's not playing? One of two things needs to happen, in my mind: 1. Start Mat Gamel at 3B consistently with McGehee at second and Counsell spelling McGehee/anyone when necessary (like a previous poster suggested). 2. Trade for an everyday 2B and let McGehee make the majority of starts at 3B with Counsell spelling him, Gamel to AAA. #1 seems too obvious considering Mat Gamel is seeing the ball better recently - and that any prospects the Brewers are willing to trade should probably be saved for a starting pitcher. If Dave Bush was ready to go and healthy it's a different story. I'd probably lean towards the second option. Plus, I'm a believer in a steady starting lineup. Playing the numbers isn't wrong, but if it means drastically changing the batting order every day I worry about the instability - especially on an offense already known for its inconsistency.
  23. Hmm, I didn't know the Cardinals brought up Dan Haren...makes me feel a little better about the whole Nelson Cruz thing.
  24. K-Rod will probably close it...maybe he's saving Santana or Haren for late in the game?
