  1. As I stated before Marcum's value is not going to decline because of what happened in the playoffs and it wasn't going to increase either if the results were different. Marcum is who he is. He is a control pitcher that has a Suppan like fastball and if he can not spot his off speed pitches he his a home run derby waiting to happen as he is not going to get many batters out with his fastball. Marcum is a good #3 pitcher I am not sure why anyone thought he was a #2 or a #1 caliber pitcher. I still believe the Brewers could get a good prospect for him and I still believe the White Sox or the Yankees would be a good match for the Brewers the White Sox more so as they have a SS who is blocked. Maybe do a Marcum and Gamel/Green deal for Escobar and another player from the White Sox. That solves the 3B dilemma for the White Sox and they also get a good #3 pitcher to place in their rotation.
  2. Braun trying for the 5 run hr again. uggg why Braun why?
  3. Good he should never have been playing this year at all.
  4. blow this team up Melvin. Marlins fire sale this off season only way for the Brewers to become competitive again.
  5. Hart costs the brewers 2 runs. Brewers d is bad at nearly every position.
  6. And people said Marcum is a legit #2 or #1. Suppan esque is what Marcum is.
  7. come on Lucroy what a horrible throw. Lucroy needs to work on his throws horrible behind the plate when it comes to throwing out runners.
  8. Axford for multiple innings yes but no way would I use KRod for more than one inning. You are just asking for punishment if you have KRod pitch more than one inning. Axford pitched two innings in game 5 of the NLDS so I don't see a reason why you would make that statement about Axford not being used for more than one inning.
  9. He should be playing 1B and not the OF. The Brewers have 2 OF who should not be playing in the OF because of a varied of reasons. I really wish the Brewers think about moving Braun to 1B if/when Prince leaves.
  10. Hart has never been a good OF.
  11. Or he wants to drive his price up by getting the Yankees involved.
  12. So when is an appropriate time for that? It really doesn't matter when Prince does that as I prefer the team being loose than playing tight like you are suggesting they should be remember in baseball you can't have fun at all no matter what. You are losing in a playoff game you better not smile because hey you have to be serious 100% of the time there is no fun in baseball!
  13. Actually it did work out offensively for Roenicke and the Brewers last night starting Kotsay. Kotsay was just playing the wrong position in the OF he should have been playing RF last night with Morgan in CF. Definitely wouldn't have played Gomez last night against Carpenter especially the way Carpenter was pitching last night. Gomez is way to aggressive when batting to have him in the lineup with someone like Carpenter on the mound.
  14. That must make LaRussa an even worse manager at evaluating players since he has Holliday and Berkman in the OF nearly every day. I could find about 20+ managers that do the same as Roenicke. Kotsay in RF for one game is not going to kill the Brewers all that much especially with the play that Hart didn't make last night it didn't even matter. Kotsay is about as good as Holliday or Berkman are in the OF and the Cardinals have done fine so far this year with those two in the corners.
  15. Not going to happen and yes it would be awesome to get him but the Brewers would have to give the Reds every single minor league player the Brewers have to get him plus Braun.
  16. Almost got the lineup correct last night. I actually like the lineup tonight as Kotsay is the better choice over Gomez tonight.
  17. Ideal lineup tomorrow: 1. Morgan2. JHJ3. Braun4. Fielder5. Weeks6. Kotsay7. Betancourt8. Kottaras9. Wolf I would prefer having Kotsay instead of Gomez as Gomez is way to aggressive and with Lohse that is not a good strategy. Might want to switch JHJ and Morgan in the lineup.
  18. I gotta give you a Keyshawn "Come awn Man" for this statement. A little over the top. What is over the top? If you want top talent in the sandwich pick area or in the second round you are going to have to pay over slot. How is that over the top when it is the truth. Just look at this last draft with Bell getting a rather large signing bonus and he was a 2nd round pick. I'm sorry if you believe that you can get a good player at a good price with a sandwich pick area but that is just not true at all. You are going to have to overpay to get a good player at that spot. Most of these players are high school guys who have sign-ability issues which means if you don't sign them you don't get anything in return for that pick. This means the team is at a disadvantage and will have to overpay in order to get a good player. If Kyle Blanks has more potential than Green, why would they trade him for a 5th outfielder? I'd definitely give up a fifth outfielder type for Blanks but I don't think that'll get it done. Well Blanks has nowhere to play for the Padres and it would be beneficial to them to trade him away unless the NL adopts the DH rule next season. It may take more than a 5th OF but I wouldn't be surprised if it were something like Gindl and Rogers that would get that deal done. Rogers would be able to be a bullpen arm or a starter whatever the Padres would think will work best for them. I don't see much of anything being traded away for Blanks and a Gindl and Rogers deal is a pretty good trade off for the Brewers and the Padres. What this does is give the Brewers more options and cheap options to fill 1B and 3B. I actually believe McGehee will be traded this off season for a bullpen arm or two.
  19. That won't happen unless Carpenter somehow starts throwing 88 MPH fastball to hitters.
  20. Well Adrian Gonzalez was there at 1B and then there is this prospect that they got from Boston who is also a very good 1B. The Padres have been trying to get Blanks in the lineup but they have been playing him in the OF and he has been playing sparingly. He barely has 500 PA's in his career so I wouldn't take his MLB numbers to mean all that much. He hasn't even played a full season yet in the majors. Blanks is definitely as good as Gamel and Green and he has more potential than McGehee, Green, and Gamel. Plus to trade for Blanks I doubt the Brewers will have to give up much. If anything they will have to give up a #5 OF which the Brewers have plenty of in their farm system. Also look at Blanks 24 year old season in AAA and compare that with Gamels at the same age. Blanks had a better year than Gamel did. Remember Blanks will only be 26 at the end of the season next year. I hope people are not betting on the Brewers getting a 1st round pick for Prince because it doesn't look likely the Brewers will get a 1st round pick as most of the teams that will be looking at Prince will have protected picks. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/reversestandings/ There are four teams that have protected picks that could go after Prince. Those four being the Mariners, Marlins, Cubs, and Orioles. All of these teams could afford Prince and they all have protected picks which means the Brewers get a sandwich pick and you are not going to get a good player there unless you overpay for a player. The other two teams that could go after Prince pick 17th the Blue Jays and 29th the Rangers. It does not look good at all for the Brewers to get a 1st round pick at all. At best the Brewers are going to get a sandwich pick and a 2nd round pick.
  21. I don't see the Rangers letting C.J. Wilson getting away at least it is going to cost the Yankees or the Red Sox. Wilson is going to get paid like a Halladay or Sabathia and I am not sure he is worth that. The Yankees and Red Sox are definitely going to have to over pay to get Wilson plus the Rangers have a lot of money to shell out with that TV deal they got.
  22. The White Sox won't be interested in Marcum. They really need to cut payroll, but if they want guys nearing FA that will command a decent amount, they'll hold on to Danks and Floyd. Well since Buehrle will be gone that is $14m less and Pierre is gone that is another $8.5M. There is going to be enough coming off their payroll that they can afford Marcum and his small salary next year. Trading Buehrle's salary for that of Marcum's which will be lower so that argument holds no water at all. I also highly doubt the White Sox are going to be cutting payroll when they have older players in Dunn and Konerko on the roster. This also comes to your second statement which makes no sense at all. Hiring of Robin Ventura is a sign they don't expect to contend for a few years. Marcum for a year makes no sense for them. Umm what? Why does Robin Ventura being the manager make any difference on when they expect to be contending? The White Sox have Dunn and Konerko next year and beyond and I don't see the White Sox trading either of those players. Not to mention most of the team is not even set up for something like you are insinuating. The White Sox have a decent team they just under performed this season if they add in someone like Marcum they will be a 85-90 win team next year which wins the AL Central. I can not see how Ventura being hired as the manager has any barring on the White Sox contending next year or them being expected to not contend for a few years. This statement makes no sense with the roster makeup that the White Sox have unless you believe the White Sox are going to blow their whole team up with trades which I believe is highly unlikely.
  23. No way does Rollins get 5-years. He is looking like he is declining rather fast. I would only offer Rollins a 3-year deal at most maybe with a team option for a 4th year that vests on games played.
