  1. No if they wanted to just eat salary they would take back a lesser prospect like McGehee I don't see the Astros taking back Soupan just to not take back much of a salary and I doubt the Astros would help us out like that with Suppan.
  2. Gindl to me is comparable to Matt Stairs. Both are about the same height and during the minors they were about the same size also. Yeah I know it is hard to imagine Matt Stairs as being smaller than what he is now. But I believe Gindl can be a serviceable MLB player not someone you would want in your everyday lineup but he can definitely be a good bench guy giving you some nice pop off the bench.
  3. And Duscherer would be on the DL right now also so that means Suppan would be in the rotation.
  4. Not going to happen. Plus with that Podsednick trade the Brewers also had to give up Luis Vizcaino who was a rather decent bullpen arm definitely better than Suppan. Plus getting rid of McGehee for Oswalt doesn't really enthuse me at all I think the Brewers actually go backwards in win projection with Oswalt on the team than with McGehee on the team and that is even considering Suppan is still on the team. I don't see the Astros trading Oswalt for anything less than a top 15 prospect from a team and a couple of lower tier prospects along with Oswalt. The Astros would be looking to be rebuilding and not taking on older players for Oswalt. This isn't the same as the Podsednick deal at all. The White Sox were still looking to contend when they traded Lee they were not looking to rebuild at that time. If they were looking to rebuild they wouldn't have traded Lee for Podsednick and a relief pitcher. So this deal makes absolutely no sense for the Astros and for the Brewers. A more reasonable trade that the Astros would be looking at would be something like Scarpetta and Farris would be something more along the lines that the Astros will be looking at for a return for Oswalt. The Astros will definitely be looking for a pitcher to replace Oswalt in the near future and probably one or two positional players. If the Astros would have been looking to deal Oswalt in the beginning of the year or doing the off season then yeah maybe McGehee could have been an option but it still would have taken another prospect along with McGehee to get that trade done.
  5. I like Bristol over Daytona. Bristol is more of the old school bump and grinding racing. The Indy 500 definitely has lost its luster over the years but I blame that mostly on the IRL than anything else. To me the Indy 500 is really the only race in the US that really matters it is one of the greatest race tracks in the US and it is normally a very exciting race. Plus the Borg Warner trophy is one of the coolest trophies ever made. http://www1.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/Indianapolis+500+Winner+8l301EIcTIIl.jpg
  6. I can't believe you didn't put the Indy 500 on there.
  7. Why trade McGehee for a #3 at best pitcher when there are already a bunch of pitchers like that in the Brewers farm system. I don't know what exactly you think we would get in a trade for McGehee but it is not going to be much and I don't see the Brewers getting anything more than a #3 type of a pitcher. You are probably looking at getting a teams 20th to 25th ranked prospect in return for McGehee. So you are looking at bullpen guys or back of rotation type of pitchers. Probably someone like Butler or a better example maybe someone like McClung in return for McGehee. The same questions that people have right now on McGehee would follow him in the trade market. I just do not see a big enough return for McGehee to trade him. You do need to get a return that is at least an equal value to what you are giving up and I just do not see any teams giving up that talent for McGehee at least not pitching talent maybe another position player but not a pitcher.
  8. I don't see many young pitchers other than Lincecum that will give a solid 9 innings almost every game in the majors right now. Pitchers like Sheets are rare you don't find that many anymore that can seriously give you 9 innings almost every night. Greinke and Felix come to mind as others but that is only 3 young pitchers who can give you 9 innings whenever they pitch. I'm going to chalk it up to the weather being not so nice. Once it starts to warm up I think you will see Arnett pitch better.
  9. As I have said in the past the Yankees will not trade for Fielder there is no spot for Fielder to play for the Yankees. 1B/DH will be occupied by someone already so there is no spot for Fielder to play at if Fielder was at 3B then yes he would have a spot to play at. Jeter or Rodriguez figure to be the future DH for the Yankees and with Teixeira at first bast that leaves Fielder without a spot to play for the Yankees. The same can be said about the Angels also with no spot for Fielder to play at with 1B and DH being taken up by players already on the team so you can realistically eliminate the Yankees and the Angels for a Fielder trade. There are a few teams left for a Fielder trade and that would be the Mariners, Red Sox, Rangers, and Braves with both the Braves and the Rangers being long shots as possible landing spots for Fielder. I really don't see the Dodgers as an option anymore along with the Yankees, Angels, and Orioles. With the Orioles I believe they would rather just try and sign Fielder as a free agent than trade for him and give up prospects in that deal. The Orioles realistically don't have all that much of a chance between now and 2011. The Rays would be a very very very long shot to trade for Fielder but possible but I don't see how it would fit financially for them. As for Hart being another trade chip you are looking at a player from a teams 30-50th best prospect in return for Hart at this time. Hart has nearly lost all of his value the best that you are looking at getting in a return for Hart is someone who has been repeating AAA three or four times now probably a AAAA type player. If Cain wouldn't have went down with an injury last year I really do believe the Brewers would have non tendered Hart this off season in favor of Cain over Hart. As of right now Hoffman probably has more value than Hart does in the trade market as closers can bring in some premium players. The only other two players that have a lot of value are Gamel and Weeks and maybe Bush. I could see Bush being traded if a team needs a #4 or #5 pitcher the Phillies and Mets come to mind for a possible trade for Bush. The Brewers really can't trade Weeks since there is no one who could place Weeks at 2B right now Lawrie is more than likely is not going to be a 2B in the majors he will probably play either RF or LF for the Brewers. A trade that I like the most is B.J. Upton and Jeremy Helickson for Prince Fielder and Todd Coffey. I'm not sure the Rays would go for that with both Helickson and Upton in the deal the Brewers would have to throw in another player to get that deal done but I am not sure on that. The Rays really do need a pitcher who can close out games and Coffey would be that pitcher who would be a low cost controlled bullpen arm that they have been looking for. Other than that hurdle the Brewers may have to throw in some money in order to get the deal done because I believe the Rays will not be looking to add onto their payroll after this year and Prince would be a hefty price for them to pay after this year. You are looking at a raise for Fielder in arbitration at about $15-18m. This would make Prince the highest paid player on the Rays team and assuming the Rays do cut their payroll down like has been rumored that would be about 25% of their roster being paid out to Prince. I was thinking about the White Sox as a possibility also but their farm system was is dry right now after trading for Peavy and their payroll maybe at its limit right now.
  10. If Cain were up today he would be playing in the majority of the games. This isn't like the Gamel situation where Macha soured on Gamel for his lack of work ethic in spring training. Cain, Braddock, and Axford actually got high praises from Macha so I Cain would be the one starting in the OF while Gerut would be sitting on the bench. I don't think Cain is ready right now but if he wouldn't have got hurt last year I think you would have seen Hart non tendered with Cain playing RF at the beginning of the year.
  11. Maybe I am reading to much into this but it looks as though the Cubs are in desperation mode here.
  12. If I remember correctly with last years version you can use a whole song and edit where it starts. Though it is rather time consuming I had all of the Brewers walk up music last year for the show edited into my game.
  13. The Rays management has stated this off season that they would be cutting back on their payroll after this year and would be bringing it back down. I don't see why they would trade for Fielder if they were thinking about doing that. Though I wouldn't mind an Upton plus a pitching prospect for Fielder I think that would be a fair deal for both sides. I just do not see the Rays going for Fielder with his salary approaching the $15-18m range for next season. I believe the Rays GM was quoted as saying the team would be dropping their payroll back down to the $40-50m range I will have to re dig that article up though I can't find it right now but I do know the Rays were looking to reduce their payroll after this year. In a recent article I believe Crawford was quoted as saying that he and Pena wouldn't be returning to the Rays if that means anything at all.
  14. Escobar is more patient than Gomez is at the plate but that isn't much of an improvement. I wouldn't want to see either of Gomez or Escobar at the #2 spot but if I had to choose between those two options I guess I would go with Escobar at the #2 spot with Gomez batting 7th and Zaun batting 8th. I do not see the Royals trading Greinke at all unless they feel like they will get a better return now than compared to 2011 or 2012 which I don't see happening. If anything the Royals will probably start thinking about trading Greinke around the end of 2011 if they are not able to resign him that is.
  15. Here is one thing I will not be surprised about if the Brewers do make this move. I could see the Brewers moving Braun to 1B if Prince departs. With the issues Braun has had with his back and around that area it would be smart for the Brewers to move Braun from LF to 1B. This will also open up the possibilities to move Lawrie and Gamel around in the OF. You could have Lawrie and Gamel in the corners with Gomez/Schafer/Cain in CF.
  16. The Brewers do not need to trade for a hole at RF. There are enough prospects in the minors that can fill that hole that Hart would leave in RF just to name a few that would fit in RF Lawrie, Gamel, Cain, and Gindl. The OF is the least of the worries for the Brewers the Brewers actually have a glut of talent for the OF. I also don't see the Brewers getting much in the way of a hard tosser with trading Edmonds, Zaun, or Counsell. At best your return is going to be someone like McClung but probably more along the lines of Capellan or Kolb are what you are looking at for a return for any of those three. I don't see much if any demand for those three. If Hoffman turns it around maybe you could trade him for a good bullpen guy who throws hard but I think that is all you could expect for a return for Hoffman. If Hart really turns it on you could see a #4 or a #5 type pitcher in return probably not someone who throws really hard though.
  17. Trading McGehee right now would be a big mistake. With Gamel not even being healthy and with a shoulder injury where he may not even come back as good as he once was is not a smart idea. I'm not even sure you can count on Gamel to be healthy next year or this year. We really do not know what we are going to be getting with Gamel. I really like Gamel but lately he hasn't done anything yes part of that is due to Macha not playing him when he was up last year but ever since he was promoted last year he hasn't really done all that much and now he is injured after taking BP in spring training? I'm not sure the Brewers can really count on Gamel as being an everyday 3B. I'm not even sure McGehee will have much value in the trade market as he still has question marks. At best you are going to get a teams top 20-25 type of a prospect for McGehee and they are probably going to be players who are in low A or high A minor league players. So these players won't even help you out until at best 2013 or probably later. Gamel is probably a better option to trade to get a top 10-15 type of a prospect who will be in the AA to AAA range. I believe Green has bypassed both McGehee and Gamel as the organizations top 3B and as for prospect status goes Green is ahead of Gamel at this time at 3B. I don't see McGehee having much trade value it would be best for the Brewers just to keep McGehee and ride the wave with him. He will be cheap for the next couple of years and if the Brewers do want to sign an extension with him it shouldn't be all that much compared to other 3B contracts around the league.
  18. You are forgetting the other player in that deal. Davis definitely wouldn't be the main piece it would be Perez. I actually think Gamel would be better at a corner OF spot than at 1B. There is some power lacking in the corner OF spots in the minors so Gamel can fill that void.
  19. One because the Brewers are not going to get back two very good prospects in a Fielder trade and two because Davis has high upside if he can find some plate discipline. Smoak taking over has no barring on the Rangers trading for Fielder. One of them would play 1B or DH I wouldn't be surprised to see Prince play the majority at DH and Smoak the majority at 1B with them switching every now and then. So Smoak at 1B really doesn't matter when you can play Prince or Smoak at either 1B or DH.
  20. No Buchholz is not on the table. If the Red Sox were unwilling to trade him for Halladay I don't see them trading him for Prince either.

  22. I'm not sure the Brewers are going to get the prospects that they would require for Prince in return. I think a deal similar to what I posted before where the Brewers get an average to an above average player in return along with a prospect is something that is more real than what the Brewers gave up to get Sabathia. Looking over the teams that may have interest in Fielder this year those teams are limited and hold leverage over the Brewers. I don't see that many teams looking to add a player like Prince at 1B when there are comparable free agents still around who could play 1B/DH (Delgado and Dye come to mind) that won't cost a prospect. I believe it is down to 4-5 teams that would be looking to add Prince to their roster. The five teams that I feel are likely to trade for Prince are: the Dodgers, Red Sox, Mariners, Rangers, and the Angels. All but one of these teams would have a great chance to resign Prince and one having questions marks due to owner problems. With the Rangers you are probably looking at something like Chris Davis (I do not like this guy at all no plate discipline at all) and probably a reach here Martin Perez. Definitely wouldn't be immediate help for the Brewers in 2011 though would look like Perez would be ready around 2012 or more likely 2013. I really do not like Chris Davis at all he is an all or nothing hitter but if he could learn some plate discipline he could be a really good hitter. I think you can compare Chris Davis to Bill Hall in terms of plate discipline AKA none at all. Look at his 2009 BB and SO totals. If Davis could somehow cut down on the poor plate discipline he could be something special. I think something like the Loney deal where the Brewers get back an average to an above average player plus a prospect is what the Brewers will be offered in the trade market for Prince. Now is that better than the two comp picks the Brewers would receive by letting Prince walk? 23. But to who? I'm not sure there will be a lot of teams that will be bidding for Prince. The big market teams that I can see going after Prince would be the Dodgers, Cubs, White Sox, and the Mariners. The Cubs lose Lee but I'm not sure the Cubs will be able to add another $18-25m onto their roster though with Soriano getting $18m, Dempster $14m, Ramirez at $16m, and Zambrano at $18m this wouldn't be including an extension for Fukudome or Lilly either. So I think you can cross the Cubs off the list though they could go all out and sign Fielder and not sign Fukudome though all of their other players like Soto will be getting more expensive at that time also. Now you have the Dodgers who theoretically should have the money to sign Prince but will have to start resigning some of their own young talent in Loney, Kemp, Ethier, and Martin. So the Dodgers are not going to have that much money to spend on a free agent like Fielder. Now the White Sox also will have to make a decision between Buehrle and Prince I don't see the White Sox being able to get both. Peavy is going to be really expensive for the White Sox in 2012 and I would expect Buehrle to get a contract similar to what Peavy will have at that time. Also Rios will be an expensive piece along with Bobby Jenks if they resign him to a long term deal. Now Quentin will also begin to get expensive for the White Sox. The Mariners are also in the same boat as the Dodgers, Cubs, and White Sox. The Mariners will have pieces that will be getting rather expensive along with do the Mariners extend Lee? Along with some of the Mariners younger talent getting more expensive with arbitration raises. The wild card team will be the Red Sox if Gonzalez is not available Fielder will be their #1 choice assuming Pujols is also not available. I don't think the Red Sox would try and sign both Fielder and Gonzalez I don't see the Red Sox having that much money to spend on both of them. Definitely wouldn't be able to afford both Fielder and Pujols or Pujols and Gonzalez. I don't see the big spending teams that will have an opening for Prince. If Prince played 3B then I could see the Yankees trying to snatch him up and moving Rodriguez to DH but I don't see that happening and I don't see Fielder being the DH for the Yankees either. One of Jeter or Rodriguez is going to have to be moved to the DH spot by 2012. I am just skeptical of the actual market for Prince in free agency of it being all that high even without Howard. I believe Prince will not find a deal any better than what Howard got in free agency. I just don't see the teams that will have the money spending it on Prince.
  24. Just saw today on the PS3 and their is a download up for MLB.tv for the PS3. You would have to have a MLB.tv subscription though. So you can watch MLB games on your PS3 now. MLB.com article on the PS3 addition and others.
  25. I'm not saying he is going to pick up .050 points in his slugging. All I am saying is he is going to improve in his slugging from switching from the NL West to the NL Central.
