1. Wow Sheets getting an offer now that is a surprise. I bet it is only a one year deal though. Mmmmm only about 3 months until pitchers and catchers report for spring training right?
2. Because Jeter would have been worse at 3B than he would of been at SS. Plus his defense wouldn't even justify him playing at 3B along with his offense at the time. At least when the decision was made Jeter was still somewhat good offensively and was passable as a SS with his offense at the time of the decision. Plus having an angry Jeter at that time wouldn't have been a smart move for the Yankees. Jeter can do no wrong in NY.
3. Which is a big problem with trading Fielder. I don't see many options out there that you could only have for one or two years. A platoon of Sexson and Nelson would be OK but the production wouldn't be anywhere close to what Fielder would give you. Giambi could be a possibility but he would cost more than what the Brewers should be adding to payroll. Finding a decent 1B will not be easy at all and there just isn't any good 1B available for the Brewers to go out and get.
4. Moving Arod to 3B was the right move for the Yankees. Arod has put on some weight and he has more value for the Yankees at 3B than at SS. Jeter moving to 1B either has to be a joke or someone is smoking something. There is no way the Yankees should even think about moving Jeter to 1B. Jeter is going to be a problem for the Yankees in the next couple of years as his defense and offensive numbers start to decline. I wouldn't even put Jeter in the OF. The Yankees can't trade or release Jeter there would be riots in New York if that happened. I don't believe this article is any way serious at all. Even with Prince's bad defense it would still be better than what Jeter would give you at 1B or SS or any other position in the lineup. I wouldn't mind a Hughes/Kennedy, Jackson, and Cabrera/Gardner deal for Prince and a low level prospect. Ian Kennedy = Dave Bush though. Anyone esle see the similarities between Kennedy and Bush other than myself? I would prefer Hughes over Kennedy even with Hughes recent injury problems.
5. I can't remember the last time a Boras client accepted arbitration when they could go into free agency. I would say Gagne declining arbitration would be at 80% likely since he is a Boras client.
6. I don't think this was a Bud idea so I'm not sure where this comes from. The only people I have seen suggesting this have been the media. The same media that put pressure on MLB to do something about the All Star game and the tie. The media got what they wanted and now think the idea is a joke. Lesson to be learned never listen to the talking heads over at the sports studios.
7. To offer arbitration or not to offer arbitration? It is likely that Gagne will be a type B free agent. With Boras being Gagne's agent I don't see Boras accepting arbitration Gagne didn't accept arbitration with Boston last year so I don't see why Boras would accept arbitration for Gagne. I'm guessing it would be declined. The question here is do we want the extra picks from a team that would sign Gagne and do those picks out weigh the possibility of Gagne accepting arbitration. (edit: title --1992)
8. Weren't there reports last year about Redd moving the ball very good in practice but it would never happen in an actual game at all. I don't get Redd at all some times he dishes the ball a lot around the court and then other nights he doesn't pass the ball at all and will take nearly every shot when he thinks he is open. So frustrating to watch Redd play. One night he is one way and another night he plays completely differently. Ridnour is looking to be at least a serviceable PG for this year I wouldn't want to have him for any longer than this or next season. I didn't get to watch the game tonight and I haven't checked the box score other than Redd's and Bogut's numbers since I have them on some of my fantasy teams. Did Sessions get to play more tonight?
9. Rickie has the speed but he has slow reactions when fielding and is the reason why he is always putting himself in bad spots to catch the ball. Plus he is also indecisive. I only used speed and reaction for Salome because the other things don't really matter if he can't get to the ball.
10. I don't agree with ZiPs rates for the defense especially when Counsell gets a Vg um ok which is the same rating Escobar got. I'm guessing that means they have a high rating so I'm not really sure why Counsell has such a high rating. Hardy has the same rating as Hall. I don't really like ZiPs ratings for defense very well.
11. At SS Hall is an average SS both defensively and offensively. I believe Hall will bounce back and be between what he did in 2006 and 2007. Which would be something like .255/.330/.450 From http://www.baseballthinkf...ctions_milwaukee_brewers/ SHORTSTOPS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Name P Age AVG OBP SLG G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB K SB CS RNG AVERAGE Bill Hall 3b 29 .248 .315 .445 135 452 65 112 31 2 18 69 44 133 5 5 Fr If Hall did that he would be in the top 10 of SS in OPS. That is very valuable where the Royals are not getting anything near that on their team. I wish people would look things up before saying something. Hall has value as a SS and a utility player to teams. The value is there it is just not known how much value there is.
12. The Royals would take Hall because he can play in a variety of different positions that they need help in. SS, 3B?, 2B, and possibly OF. 3B only because I don't believe Gordon will be staying at 3B. I believe they will be moving him to 1B I don't believe Gordon is a good 3B defensively and he will be better suited at playing 1B. That leaves a hole at 2B, SS, and 3B which Hall can play all three of them and the OF if needed. But Hall's value to the Royals is about the same to the Brewers as a platoon player the value is rather high. With the Royals they need either a SS or a 2B Pena Jr. is not going to cut it with his anemic stats and that is being nice. I don't see any other options for the Royals that are out in the market or in their farm system that will be as good as Hall. If they had them they would have replaced Pena earlier in the season. Hall for Teahen is a wash. I wouldn't mind getting DeJesus but it looks more and more likely that the Royals want to hang onto him the same with Teahen also. Defensively Hall would make sense for the Royals at SS with Aviles moving over to 2B next year for the Royals. I just don't see who we would get from the Royals since I believe Teahen and DeJesus are not going to be traded. Maybe Jose Guillen would be available but I wouldn't want to touch him with a 100 foot pole. I don't see the Royals being a good trading partner when you are talking about Hall.
13. It is going to take another year or two before the Bucks become good again. I wish they would have went full blown rebuilding and traded away Redd also. I don't like Redd's defense and his selfish playing style. Redd hardly ever passes the ball and it feels as though he is trying to prove to everyone in the NBA that he is a Kobe Bryant type of a player which he is not he would need to work on his defense and passing game before he even comes close to being as good as Kobe is. Oh well at least they are playing better than they were last year. At least there is some focus on defense unlike in the past.
14. Basing it on how fast he runs and his reaction time.
15. I was comparing his height and weight as compared to Belliard. I don't believe Salome will be as good as Belliard at 2B. But he is more like Belliard when his weight ballooned after his first year with the Brewers. I also don't think Salome would be any better than Weeks at 2B. Salome is not that far off from Belliard in weight and height proportions.
16. No that is fine right there. Bits are the basic units of language in a computer, called binary language. They compose of 0s and 1s. Since there are just two digits, every number, digit, word letter etc is represented in powers of 2. Hence, 2 to the power 10 = 1024 now, every unit is a multiple of that. So, a kilobyte is 1024 bytes, a megabyte is 1024 kilobytes and the order follows. 1MB=1024KB 1024MB=1GB Data Measurement Chart Data Measurement Size Bit Single Binary Digit (1 or 0) Byte 8 bits Kilobyte (KB) 1,024 Bytes Megabyte (MB) 1,024 Kilobytes Gigabyte (GB) 1,024 Megabytes Terabyte (TB) 1,024 Gigabytes Petabyte (PB) 1,024 Terabytes Exabyte (EB) 1,024 Petabytes
17. Hall couldn't do any worse than this Yes that is Tony Pena Jr. the starting SS for the Royals for the majority of the year. Even if Hall put up numbers that he did this year it would still be better than anything the Royals could put on the field at SS right now. 2008 Season Stats SPLITS G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS Season 95 225 22 38 4 1 1 14 6 49 3 1 .169 .189 .209 .398
18. But Salome isn't a Biggio type of a player more like a Belliard than Biggio.
19. Not even remotely true at all. If you are going to base it on HR's actually look at the 1B and DH numbers for HR's if you are going to base it off of that. Even if Fielder hits 35 HR's next year he will still have the same value he has this year. There is not a lot of players out there that are going to give you 35-40 HR's a year that are on the market. Dunn, Burrel, Giambi, Ramirez, Thome, and Teixeira are the players available this year. Fielder will still have value next year. It is not a trade that has to happen right now. Fielder will put up 35-40 HR's next year and you will still get the same value as you get this year.
20. Kendall liking or not liking someone had zero impact on Melvin getting someone. Kendall is gone after next year I don't see the Brewers sticking with Kendall especially with Salome, Lucroy, and Rivera around. Rivera could fill in as catcher in 2010 if Salome isn't ready to be the everyday catcher. To only worry about a player for one year who will probably not be back after that one year is pointless. What Kendall feels towards Macha had no bearing on the decision that Melvin is going to make.
21. I agree but if the Yankees miss out on Teixeira I wouldn't be suprised if the Yankees offered Hughes, Jackson, and a low prospect to the Brewers for Fielder. To me the Yankees are always looking at star power over anything else. A lineup that consists of Arod and Fielder in the middle of the lineup would be very good.
22. Who is going to win tonight the Bucks or da Bulls? Bucks possible starting 5 C: Bogut PF: C. Villanueva SF: Jefferson SG: Redd PG: Ridnour Bulls possible starting 5 C: Gooden/Ruffin PF: Gooden/Ruffin/Noah SF: Deng SG: Gordon/Hughes/Hinrich PG: Hinrich/Rose I believe Hinrich will get the start over Rose at the PG tonight I don't think Rose will get as many starts or playing minutes in his first year. I'll give the Bucks the advantage at C and SF. If Gooden is at PF it will be the Bulls advantage if it is Ruffin or Noah it is a wash between them and Villanueva. SG and PG I'll give an advantage to the Bulls only because they are better defenders than what the Bucks have. The bench is in favor of the Bulls though. With Rose/Hinrich, Gordon/Hughes, and Ruffin/Noah on the bench is better than what the Bucks have on the bench. This should be a good game tonight but I don't expect the Bucks to win this one. Bulls 89 Bucks 79. The scores are usually low the first couple of weeks of the season. I don't see the Bulls as being any better than the Bucks right now though if Rose proves he is a legitimate PG then the Bulls are better than the Bucks and by a lot.
23. I thought I read somewhere that Randy Johnson is considering playing closer to his home. If he won't be pitching for the Diamondbacks then I believe he will stay on the west coast and joining one of those teams. The Angels and the Dodgers look to be good suitors for Johnson. I don't see Randy coming to Milwaukee. The Angels really make sense for Randy Johnson. A team that will be competing for the World Series again next year will be an ideal situation for him and it is close to his home. Not to mention that the Angels will have a spot open for him with Garland leaving. To me the Angels will pick up Johnson and have him fill their #4 or #5 starting pitcher spot. I'm just not seeing Johnson playing for the Brewers next year. As for Schilling I wouldn't touch him at all. I don't want Barry Bonds errr Curt Schilling on this team. Bonds and Schilling are the same players if you don't like Bonds I can't see how you would like Schilling they are one in the same.
24. I would rather have Shields over Kazmir and I would trade Hart, Fielder, and Periard for Shields, Crawford, and Niemann/Jackson. I would prefer Niemann over Jackson though. I still believe there is value in Niemann. Hart and Crawford would be an equal swap. Both have the same potential though Hart is younger and is cheaper than Crawford. Fielder for Shields and Niemann would be a steal for the Rays but I don't see the Rays really needing a DH or a 1B. Plus the Rays would be losing a #1/2 type of a pitcher who is signed rather cheaply for them. Both Shields and Kazmir will be cheap compared to what they would get on the market. Kazmir's salary for the next four seasons: 09:$6M, 10:$8M, 11:$12M, 12:$13.5M club option ($2.5M buyout) Shield's Contract for the next six seasons: 09:$1.5M, 10:$2.5M, 11:$4.25M, 12:$7M club option ($2M buyout), 13:$9M club option ($1.5M buyout), 14:$12M club option ($1M buyout) I would believe that the Rays are not looking to deal any of their pitching unless they are named Jackson, Sonnanstine, and Niemann. The untouchables are Kazmir, Shields, and Price. All three of them are locked up for a long time and at a cheap price compared to what they could get in free agency. The Brewers and the Rays match up rather nicely as trading partners but I don't think the timing is correct.
25. Yes also when you playing any computer game or making a post like right now. Though all of them use very little bandwidth for uploading. Downloading takes more and that is the reason why you get more download than you get upload.
