  1. Villy for those 3 innings that would be needed to be pitched. 5th through the 7th or 7th through the 9th depending on how well the bullpen is rested. The 7th inning I would give that to Dillard. The 8th I would play match ups Mota against righties and Shouse against lefties. Have Torres close the games for now.
  2. Starting to feel like they are starting to turn the corner. At least if nothing more this home stand should put some confidence into them. Having won a series at Pittsburgh where they haven't won one in a long time helped also I believe. The hitting and pitching at Boston was actually good and I thought we could have won the last two games if it wasn't for the defensive blunders.
  3. I believe the Brewers could get Randy Wolf straight up for a Gwynn + deal. I would take Wolf and try to sign him to a 3 or 4 year extension. Wolf would be perfect for the Brewers to pick up and have him behind Gallardo. If we are out of the race for a playoff spot you could always trade Sheets away and pick up a couple of pitching prospects.
  4. Martin to me is an injury prone guy and he is making as much money as Randolph is making. They are both the exact same player except Randolph is more reliable. I believe if Carmello is going to go somewhere the Nuggets are going to want to drop Martin from their roster to clear up some cap space. Maybe a Simmons and Redd deal could get Carmello and Martin straight up from the Nuggets. This deal might be the most ideal one.
  5. I was rethinking the 4 team trade idea and when I first did it I completely forgot about Kenyon Martin. I think the Nuggets probably wouldn't take this though. Heres the trade: New York sends Randolph and Jeffries to Denver; Denver sends Anthony and Martin to Milwaukee, Milwaukee sends Redd and Simmons to Cleveland; Cleveland sends Wallace and Jones to New York. Maybe if the Bucks send their #1 pick to the Nuggets they will accept this trade. The Nuggets are still losing on this deal but they get rid of Martin who is just taking up cap space and replace him with Randolph and Jeffries.
  6. You would have to give up Simmons and Redd for Carmelo and take Kenyon Martin's contract to be able for this to work out for salary cap considerations.
  7. I posted this in the lottery draft topic before. I believe this trade could actually work and benefit the Knicks and Nuggets. The Bucks would probably have to trade picks with the Nuggets also to get this trade to work since the Nuggets are losing the most in this deal. 4 team trade the Bucks send Michael Redd and Bobby Simmons to the Cavaliers, the Cavaliers send Ben Wallace and Damon Jones to the Knicks, the Knicks send Jared Jeffries and Zach Randolph to the Nuggets, and the Nuggets send Carmelo Anthony and Marcus Camby to the Bucks. You could then send Gadzuric to another team for someone less expensive and who will be coming off the books soon.
  8. Why is this even an issue? He is not happy with his playing time so what? What if Hall said he was OK with this and was just basically hinting at giving up? Wouldn't you be more upset over that? I never got why people get upset over a play complaining about playing time. It shows that they are competitive as long as they are not disrupting the team with some antics it shouldn't matter at all.
  9. 2009 1B. Prince 2B. Weeks SS. Hardy (sadly) 3B. Hall (Gamel comes up later in the year) C. Kendall (Rivera isn't that good and Salome isn't ready yet) 2010 1B. Prince(Laporta if Prince is traded after 09 season) 2B. Weeks SS. Escobar/Hall 3B. Gamel/Hall C. Rivera/Salome
  10. I'm glad Carlos didn't accept our offer imagine having to deal with Braun at 3B instead of in the OF. uggg that would be ugly. On that note I wouldn't be mad that Sheets took a better offer than what we gave him. I would be mad that we didn't trade him for something.
  11. To a point they are high on both. Hank lost out on Santana and if he thinks that getting a pitcher like a Ben Sheets will help them win the World Series then those two will be gone. I always thought that thing that was holding up the Santana trade to the Yankees was the Twins wanting all three of the Yankees young guys and Melky. I believe the Yankees were willing to part with Hughes, Kennedy, and Melky for Santana but not Chamberlain at all. I believe we could get Hughes and Kennedy for Sheets if the Yankees become desperate actually it would be Hank becoming desperate more so than the Yankees front office becoming desperate. I doubt Hank will listen for a second time.
  12. If we are out of it by the trading deadline then we trade Sheets. I would love to have Sheets sign with us but at what cost? Do you sign Sheets over signing players like Hart and Weeks? These are tough questions I believe we could sign Sheets and probably both Weeks and Hart to extensions. That leaves Hardy and Prince on the outside. Not to go to far off topic but what we do with Sheets will set the table for the signings of the rest of the younger players. I would trade Sheets and get a couple of prospects for him. If the Yankees start surging and it looks like Hughes and Kennedy are struggling with the Yankees still I could see them shipping one or both for a proven veteran pitcher. Maybe we can send Sheets for Hughes, Kennedy and a low level prospect. This also frees up money to go out and sign a free agent. Maybe take a stab at Sabathia I doubt we could get him though we would probably end up over paying for Oliver Perez which wouldn't be a bad signing. I wouldn't mind having a starting rotation of Gallardo, Perez, Hughes, Kennedy, Parra. That would put Suppan and Villa in the bullpen lessening the losses of Mota and Torres from the bullpen.
  13. I keep on having one dream where I am at Miller Park and the announcer announces there has been a trade. He then announces the trade but I can't hear it. Everyone in the stadium starts to boo and yell about it. But I can't hear who has been traded some Cubs fans get up and start laughing and high fiving each other about the trade. I try to hear what they say but I can't hear them which is probably a good thing I wish the Cubs fans in my dreams were real. I can never figure out who has been traded. I have had these dreams in the past minus the Cubs fans sometimes and sometimes there is cheering about the trade.
  14. These three are the only ones deserving of a contract extension. I don't see why everyone likes J.J. so much. I would rather sign Weeks over Hardy since we have a SS in the minors that can do everything that Hardy is doing now. Plus signing Weeks now will cost us less right now since Weeks will probably hit better than he has been.
  15. Braun has the 2nd most plate appearances on the team behind Weeks with Fielder and Hart behind Braun. Plus I was arguing against Owen about him putting Braun at the 2nd spot in the lineup and part of his reasoning was that Braun would get more AB's.
  16. Why would you want to lose this production at the 5th spot? By Situation AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB HBP SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS Lead Off Inning 37 0 11 2 0 1 1 3 0 5 0 0 .297 .350 .432 .782 None On/Out 44 1 13 2 0 1 1 3 0 7 0 0 .295 .340 .409 .749 None On, 1/2 out 60 3 18 4 0 3 3 5 0 14 0 0 .300 .354 .517 .871 Close and Late 27 2 5 1 1 0 3 2 0 7 1 0 .185 .241 .296 .537 None On 104 4 31 6 0 4 4 8 0 21 0 0 .298 .348 .471 .819 Runners On 70 19 22 4 2 0 19 4 3 9 8 3 .314 .372 .429 .801 Scoring Position 41 15 15 3 2 0 18 4 3 4 3 1 .366 .449 .537 .986 Scoring Posn, 2 out 18 5 5 1 0 0 7 3 1 1 1 0 .278 .409 .333 .742 Hart has the 2nd most AB's with runners on just behind Braun. Moving players down and up in the lineup like this will be making you rely on the bottom half of the lineup to get on base. Now you switched it from the top of the order getting on base to relying on your bottom half getting on base. You have the same problem you had before. Rickie only leads off an inning ~38% of the time. Corey leads off an inning ~22% of the time you really want to lose the production you are getting from Hart with runners on at the spot he is batting at now just for him to lead off more? If you want run production and you want to put in your best run producer according with this lineup you want him batting 3rd in the lineup. Right now Braun leads all Brewers in total AB's batting him 2nd will get him less AB's. Braun has 18 more AB's than Weeks. Hart is only 4 AB's behind Weeks both have played the same amount of games. Moving Hart up in the order is only going to give him 4 more AB's. Are 4 more AB's really going to help that much? Hart is maximized at the 5th spot.
  17. Bad lineup. Taking Hart out of the 5th spot and you lose a lot of production no matter who you put in there unless it is Prince or Braun but then you are losing production at the #3 and 4 spot in the lineup. The lineup is fine the way it is right now. If you take Weeks out of the lead off spot and put Hart there you are losing a lot of production. The lineup the way it is is the best that the Brewers can put out night after night. Since you said it is stupid I am going to have to agree with that point in the lineup you made is stupid.
  18. I had a game a couple days ago in 2K8 where I won 1-0 in bottom of the ninth with a home run by Prince against the Cubs Kerry Wood was pitching. There are some pitchers in 2K8 where I can't hit them no matter what and Zambrano is one of them but lucky me I can make Sheets dominant and K about 8-12 guys a game. If you crank up the difficulty in the 2K8 series it is about as tough as the Show.
  19. Heres an article http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8159418/Numbers-paint-a-confusing-picture-for-Cubs It is an interesting piece especially with Dempster's BABIP of .211
  20. When we traded Vaughn he was the only good player on the Brewers at the time. But he wasn't really that good look what he did after we traded him. He didn't do anything after he was traded and if we did resign him during the off season everyone would have been saying that would have been one of the worst signings in Brewers history.
  21. Some what I know the Show has something similar but it isn't the same. You put the cursor in a spot lets say just a little bit away from the middle of the plate. With a right handed pitcher and you select a slider the ball will break at the point you put the cursor at and depending on the ratings for the slider your pitcher has it will either hit the corner or go off the plate. I love using the break point option they have since it makes me think when I'm pitching compared to just put the cursor there and that is where the ball will end up.
  22. I love the defense on the MLB 2k series over the Show. The throwing with the right analog stick creates a lot of weird plays. I like the hitting better in 2K both are very easy to crack home runs once you get the timing down. The pitching with the right analog stick sucks it is just way to hard to get an accurate pitch. I love the one button and setting the break point on the 2K pitching. I wish mlb the show had the break point for pitching. The graphics are about the same. The players perform about the same. Ryan Braun on 2K in my franchise can never hit more than 20 HR's if I sim the hole season. In MLB the Show if I sim the whole year I get about 25 HR's from Braun. In the Show Braun has an average of .320 and in 2K8 he has an average of .330.
  23. After watching Wise last year against the Phillies come in with a 5 run lead I believe it was and give up a walk and a home run and then to see Cordero come in and not be able to even get the pitcher out. I was a little bit concerned. I nearly died at the stadium that day.
  24. I have a thong and send it in the mail to my favorite team when they are struggling. I heard it helps players get out of hitting slumps.
