You can make a case for Turang and Frelick but I don’t think either make it. I think Peralta will be the lone Brewer who makes it maybe Contreras as the 3rd catcher. Frelick is deserving but the NL OF is just stacked. Turang has a better chance at 2B than Frelick does in the OF. -
Yadier Molina and it counts because he is still with the Cardinals!!!!

This is why signing FA’s especially pitchers to a long term deal is just a dumb idea for small market teams. Though the Dbacks are not a small market team. The Brewers should never play in FA for pitchers unless it is a short term deal. I also believe this is true for positional players also unless they are a once in a generation talent.

Probably the best outcome the NHL could have hoped for happened in game 1. One of the better hockey games in a long time. This looks to be a great series and probably won’t get the viewership it deserves.

A financial planner is not necessary. You can do it on your own and if you are worried about the risk then you can just go the ETF route. It is really simple to setup an account. You can even setup one where AI will pick your investments for you based on risk categories and what you are using the account for. Like financial planners you will have to pay a fee for this.

Looks like Turner should have charged the ball as it hopped up at the last moment and hit the thumb of his glove. Will take it though.

Yes that is it. The top third of the strike zone became Keston’s kryptonite. Not just fastballs but anything in the upper part of the strike zone he has problems hitting. It is all due to his upper cut swing. Perfect for pitches low but absolutely horrible on anything high in the strike zone. Once pitchers figured out that hole in his swing he just never adjusted to it. He tried one off season to level out his swing more but it never stuck and he was back to the massive upper cut swing.

It helps when your better hitters actually start hitting. For awhile Chourio, Yelich and Hoskins were nearly automatic outs. Contreras for a bit was also in the automatic out category. When you have a third of your lineup just being absolutely horrible you are not going to win many games especially when those are hitters in the top half of the lineup.

This is the type of game where you let Patrick go through the lineup three times as long as the Phillies are not within striking distance you let him go as long as he can.

Luzardo having one of those games. One of the better pitchers in the NL this year. Extremely impressive to put up 11 runs against one of the better lefties in the NL.

Basically this. Late or early timing can tell you if the batter is looking for a fastball (early timing) or an off speed pitch (late timing). Also how the ball is hit did the batter get on top of the ball or under the ball? If under the ball you could go up a bit higher and get the batter to completely miss the pitch. If they are over the ball go a bit further down and watch the batter swing over it. Did the ball hit the end of the bat or closer to the handle? If closer to the handle go in closer and induce a weak pop up or a ground ball. If at the end of the bat go a bit further out and watch the batter miss the pitch. Foul balls can tell a pitcher a lot about the batter and what they are trying to do. -
Not sure why there is so much angst against having Mears out there for a second inning. He cruised through the first two batters and then struggled against the third and then easily got the next batter out. I am not seeing an issue with that decision. This feels more like an illogical and nonsensical issue being brought up in this game.

Patrick absolutely sucks third time through the lineup. Not taking him out on the third time through is a risky move unless you are up 10 runs. Wait so now we are not complaining about pitchers being babied?

Sure but you will also need a team to pay that price. I don't believe the teams will give up what the Brewers want for two playoff runs. There are teams that will need pitching but not the teams that the Brewers will want to get into a bidding war. While Peralta may have more value during the deadline there just isn't a team out there that I think will get into a bidding war for Peralta to drive up the price. I think you get about what the Brewers got for Burnes and maybe a bit less at the deadline for Peralta.

Other than Soto there really hasn't been anyone on the market who would be worth spending the prospect capital on. Ohtani was somewhat on the market from the Angels but they decided not to trade him and go for it that year which was dumb of them but the Angels are not the best ran organization either. So playing on the edges was the correct move as there just wasn't anyone worth giving up prospect capital for. I completely disagree with Attanasio doesn't like to 'go for it' as they have gone for it in 2018 and then signed Grandal in 2019. There have been times when they will go for it but as I stated previously there really hasn't been a strong trade market to go for it since 2018.
