  1. The way that college football is trending you may have a super conference of about 30-40 teams in it. There are already discussions to do this at the NCAA level along with discussions with the NFL. Basically all of the premiere talent will be allocated to this super conference with all of the NIL money going to this but the NIL will go away in this conference. The early discussions on this would be that it would be a semi-pro league where the players will be paid by the conference (schools). Where does the NFL come in this? Simple really the players would still be draft eligible in this new league. That is where the NFL comes in on this. This will also allow for players to stay for 4-years as they will be getting paid closer to the NFL minimums compared to what they are getting paid now. Right now the NIL is a top heavy payout where the majority of the money goes to the top few while the bottom get paid just not all that much. This also gives the players some insurance for their health while playing. The schools are not required to pay for medical expenses for injuries sustained on the field right now. The players are not considered employees of the school so they don't have any obligations right now to pay though some schools do pay for injuries that occur on and off the field. The getting paid part here is the reason why the NFL needs to get involved as they would need to amend their rules otherwise these players would become free agents instead of being draft eligible as they would no longer be non professionals entering the league. The NFL wants to keep the gravy train of money from the TV deal for the draft to keep coming in and if this new super conference that will be paying players means all of the superstars are no longer participating in the draft well that is a problem for the NFL. It is also a problem for the NFL as it loses the cost control of the players at a younger age. If they are considered free agents they can sign for a higher amount. So this is why the NFL is involved in creating this super conference. What benefit does this do for the NCAA? It fixes the NIL issue and the paying of players. It is now a simple and easier transaction that the league can follow and control. Another benefit for the schools is they no longer need to give out scholarships as they would now be paid employees instead of some weird employee student athlete situation that the players are in now. It also reduces the cost for the schools as they will no longer have to house or feed the players. This would all be on the players to find and do themselves. No more special treatment for the athletes at the schools. The transfer portal will also be closed and will only be open on special circumstances. Meaning the player will have to opt out of their contract and pay back any money they have received for the next season that they have been paid for. The schools that don't want to or who won't participate in the new conference can still have a football team but I think they will be limited to only local TV rights and only NIL money that the players can find. Basically it just expands the D3 school list for the teams that won't be in the new super conference. The super conference itself will be 30-40 schools from the B10, SEC and other conferences. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a fee to join also. Recruiting will also change but I think this is for the good as it should even out the talent around this new conference. The biggest benefit would be the removal of the transfer portal. If you want to leave get ready to pay for any money received for the next season and possibly finding yourself in the D3 with only NIL money to count on and your draft prospects being a late 6th or 7th round pick at best. The more I think of the super conference the more I like it. It should fix a lot of the issues that people have with college football.
  2. The White Sox wouldn't really be interested in this deal and Perkins isn't really someone that would interest them and neither would Black. The White Sox are also loaded with pitching prospects with 6 of the top 10 being pitchers. I am not sure they would want a pitching prospect. Schultz and Smith are 1 and 2 on the White Sox prospect list. I am not even sure the White Sox would have much interest in Frelick or Mitchell either. I believe the White Sox are looking for players who don't have MLB service time in a return for Crochet. As for Boeve and Adams they would be throw in types. I don't believe the White Sox would have much interest in Wilken as Colson Montgomery looks to be their future 3B. I am not sold on Montgomery being a SS as he doesn't have the range or quickness to play there. I think for a Crochet deal to happen you would have to include someone like Pratt. If you are not willing to deal Pratt then I don't think there is a deal to be made with the White Sox. I also don't believe you can substitute Misio in instead of Pratt. I just don't see the White Sox having the same value for Misio as the Brewers do. Meaning he doesn't have the same value that Pratt would have to the White Sox and this has nothing to do with Misio's talent or value in a trade to another team. The White Sox have a bunch of pitching prospects so adding another is lower on their list of what they need.
  3. And some even said he would absolutely accept the QO if offered to him.
  4. No, the Cardinals are trying to cut payroll so they won't be willing to take on new salaries even if it is replacing one. Basically the only way the Cardinals are taking on salary is if they are paying for Arenado to get a better prospect. They would have -100000000% interest in acquiring Hoskins.
  5. Expect a very quiet off season for the Brewers is what I am hearing. Don't expect Williams to be traded during the off season. The Brewers are treating Williams more like Adames than they are treating him like Burnes from the previous off season. Williams is available but the price is high.
  6. A bad loss to Atlanta last night. The issues that were plaguing the Bucks before this run came back again.
  7. Of all the players that have entered the portal Trech hurts the most but I don't blame him. The team really didn't give him the opportunities he needed but when they did he was really good. He would have one game where they would target him and then the next couple one or two targets and that would be it. I wouldn't be surprised if the Badgers are facing off against him next year in Alabama.
  8. They did push them to leave after the preferred location by MLB was declined by the city. Once that was off the table MLB informed the A's to start looking at other cities as options. There is very little concern and especially since US Bank is saying they are good and I am going to go with the ultra fiscally conservative bank over your opinion on this. There is a joke in the financial industry about US Bank if you want a guaranteed low risk investment just look at what US Bank is investing in and if you want extreme high risk a crackhead wouldn't even consider just look at what Wells Fargo is doing.
  9. They don't have a problem with Las Vegas? Where are you getting this information from? Evidence that the A's and 2 banks are planning to commit a lot of money to the new stadium in Las Vegas: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5965207/2024/12/03/las-vegas-athletics-stadium-costs-rise/ Again where are you getting that the Las Vegas stadium for the A's is in any danger of it getting paid for? Did you just make that up? MLB has been pushing both the A's and the Rays to get new stadium deals done for awhile now. How do you not know this? These are only a sample of about 100+ articles talking about MLB pushing for a new stadium. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb-tells-oakland-seek-relocation-214404413.html https://www.sportspro.com/news/mlb-oakland-athletics-relocate-coliseum-las-vegas/ https://www.kqed.org/news/11873231/mlb-tells-oakland-athletics-to-explore-relocation-if-no-new-ballpark
  10. I posted this in another thread but I would love to see the extra innings rules changed to a shootout style select 4 batters and you get 9 outs to get as many runs as possible with the home team deciding if they want to bat first or last. If no runs are scored it goes to a walk off choose 3 hitters and only 1 hitter can be from the previous 4 selected. In the walk off there are only 3 outs and strike outs count as 2 outs and walks are 2 bases. Team with the most runs wins the walk off. Home team always bats last in the walk off.
  11. No MLB won’t let them stay in Sacramento as it is not a MLB quality stadium. The A’s are going to Vegas. Manfred has already stated they are 100% going to Vegas. The only other option is to return to Oakland even though MLB has marked that stadium as not up to MLB standards. MLB had pushed for the A’s to leave Oakland because of an inadequate stadium, why would they allow them to stay in Sacramento with a AAA stadium? Either Sacramento would need to fund a new stadium or the A’s would have to build a stadium in Sacramento. I don’t see either happening. If the A’s are not able to move to Vegas they will be moved to another city or there will be removed from MLB as a franchise.
  12. This does have support or interest from the owners which is what matters more than online opinion.
  13. MLB looking to add a Golden AB. With this golden AB a team could switch a hitter with anyone who isn’t on the bases already. Basically a pinch hitter but anyone can be the pinch hitter. This would be a one time use only. So for example if the bases are loaded and Turang is up and Chourio is the next batter you could have Chourio bat twice in one inning. This is a somewhat dumb idea. But I like it for extra inning games. I would rather see a shootout style select 4 batters and you get 9 outs to get as many runs as possible with the home team deciding if they want to bat first or last.
  14. PC wasn’t a successful head coach. He was an average at best HC. If anything if the Badgers would have continued with PC I believe the program would be in worse shape than it is now. There would be 0 4 star recruits and the program would look more like a MAC team than a B10 team. The same with Leonard he wouldn’t be as successful in recruiting as Fickell has been. Leonard not getting a HC interview is telling on what everyone thinks about him as a HC. He just isn’t a HC a great defensive coordinator but not a HC. I believe the system is better off than some think it is. They need to get a good offensive coordinator so they actually have an identity on offense. The WR’s are actually rather good but a bit raw. Both the offensive and defensive line need to improve but I like who they have coming in next year. Linebackers need to play a bit more disciplined and when they have they looked really good. Better play on the d-line should help the linebackers. Going to harp on this again but a better QB would help this team tremendously. I am not even asking for a Peyton Manning here just someone better than Locke.
  15. Him transferring would be the best thing for the Badgers going forward.
  16. It is probably going to come out that Ebeflus didn't say anything and that is what Caleb was referring to. You don't want to have your rookie QB running and managing the clock at the end of the game. That needs to be ran by the HC. The HC needs to recognize that they are not getting to the line fast enough which is what Caleb was trying to do. The HC needs to call the timeout there and get a new play in to go to the sidelines and get closer for a FG attempt. Eberflus just froze and did nothing.
  17. The defense doesn't have to respect Locke throwing the ball so they can play up a bit and don't have to worry about playing back. If your QB is not a threat to do anything that means the defense only has to stop one thing and that is the run. The run is never going to work if your QB isn't a threat to either run the ball or to throw over the defense. Locke can't do either. He can't run and he can't throw the ball. The defense doesn't even need to pack the line they can play normally and when they see run they just go full out run stop as they know even if they are fooled by this the opposing teams QB is going to do nothing absolutely nothing. That is the game plan against the Badgers stop the run and watch Locke make mistake after mistake. It is a simple game plan for every defense against the Badgers.
  18. Locke is just so bad at throwing the ball and he can't run as he is like a statue back there. Defenses don't even have to game plan for Locke or even account for him other than handing the ball off or over throwing his WR's. If he does get the ball past the line it is either a lofted ball allowing the DB to get back into the play or it is 5-feet above the receivers head. He hasn't thrown an INT yet in this game but I don't see how Mettauer could be worse than what Locke is.
  19. He can barely step up to make a throw moving a statue out of the pocket is not an option.
  20. Locke continues to regress. I think he knows this is his last chance if the Badgers don't win today to start at QB at UW. He is still horrible at getting the ball over the line with three tipped balls already. I really wish they would demote him to QB2. I just don't see the point of running Locke out there over and over again. We know what he is and he is not a starting QB at a major D1 team. I don't care if the other QB is not ready they need to get him in the game as Locke is not helping the team win games he is a detriment to this team even getting close to a win.
  21. It is the same as being a Brewers fan really.
  22. That was a historical point as a majority of rookie QB's get blown out. Go back year after year and you will find maybe one or two a year that are not getting blown out week over week in their first year. Majority of the time a team drafting a QB in the first round and having them play in the first year are usually one to three years behind in actually competing.
  23. Both Nix and Daniels are looking very similar to Caleb and Daniels has been losing games for Washington with the turnovers in the last two games. Nix lost a 4th quarter comeback to the Chiefs on a similar play that Williams did to the Packers. It hasn't really been on Williams it is the HC and not Williams that is the problem for the Bears. Not sure what you were watching but Caleb played really well in the 2nd half. The Bears have been absolutely awful in the 1st half other than against the Jaguars, Packers and Panthers. The Packers game was the first time the Bears had a 1st half lead since the Jaguars game in October. This is a HC problem and not a QB problem. Caleb needs to work on some things but when he is not holding onto the ball for a long time he has looked really good. He hasn't thrown an INT since 10/13 I am not sure why you think he is not looking as good as Nix or Daniels. He has been looking really good since Brown has taken over at OC for the Bears.
  24. How many rookie QB’s are leading their team to late 4th quarter wins? He probably has had more chances than any other rookie QB in NFL history just in the last 4-weeks. I haven’t looked but I believe the majority of rookie QB’s are getting blown out week after week than they are playing competitive games. The problem is the HC here. If they play better in the first half it is probably an easier win.
  25. I get bored very easily and my phone is usually what I grab once I get bored. It is more of a habit than anything else. This is why I don’t go to things that I will easily get bored of.
