  1. I thought this was a place where Brewer fans could come and talk about the Brewers and there prospects? Maybe its just me but whats the problem with people being excited about our recent drafts? Where else would you advise people to talk about Cameron Garfields 5 for 5 pro debut our Josh Prince stealing 6 bases in one game? To be honest this is the exact reason why I dont post on this forum hardly at all. I'll come here to read the link reports and about the draft picks but I refrain from participating in discussions for the most part because its not a friendly enviroment that is conducive to that type of thing. Theres far too many rules reguarding posts and an elitist type of mentality that runs between the people who have been here for a very long time. Posters are treated like stupid little kids and this thread is a prime example.
  2. Thats a great point. I thought it was confusing that we took a catcher in the 2nd round when we already have Salome and Lucroy in the upper levels of our system but it mightve been a precursor to a deal along with the two college pitchers we took. I wonder if a deal like the one below could come to fruition since we theoritically drafted there replacements. Parra = Peavy Jeffress = Arnett Salome / Lucroy = Garfield Dillard or A+ ball or below pitcher = Heckathorn I think it makes too much sense to happen though. They want mlb ready pitching and they get 2 in return right away with Parra and Dillard along with Jeffress who still has incredible upside thrown in with a good catcher for a team that has appears to be lacking in the catching department. Lorenzo Cain, Cole Gillespie or Caleb Gindl might make sense also with Brian Giles getting old but they seem to be sitting pretty good in the outfield department in the minors. So what do you guys think? Does Peavy for Parra, Jeffress, Salome/Lucroy and Dillard sound fair?
  3. Theres an FSU fan on the Rivals national board saying that the Brewers offered Jacobbi McDaniel 800K.
  4. Ill never forget the Minnesota - Wisconsin game where Decker got into it with Jack Ikeguanu. It was a run play and he was blocking Jack and dropped to the ground and pulled out a Ric Flair groin shot on Jack. It was like something you would see in pro wrestling. Behind the Reynolds guy from Ohio State choking out Jim Sorgi that was one of the worst things Ive seen in College Football. Im not the least upset the Brewers didnt draft him again!
  5. Whats up with our run on outfielders? 4 already through the 7th round seems like an awful alot to me. Are they planning on keeping Max Walla a level behind the 3 college kids we took?
  6. Thanks Battlekow Will Brewer fans be fortunate enough to read some more post draft interviews from you again this year?
  7. What time does the draft start tomorrow?
  8. Anyone got any info on this Josh Prince guy?
  9. A couple of guys who were rated high but are still around I think are Ben Tootle RHP, Sam Dyson RHP and Luke Bailey C
  10. If you want to spend some time reading about prospects before the draft starts heres the draft reports from Milb.com http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/draft/y2009/reports.jsp?content=ackley
  11. The Padres are gonna ask for a decent haul in return with two good pitching prospects and like someone else said a positional player with a decent chance of making the big leagues plus a low level prospect with some upside so this is what I came up with. Manny Parra Jeremy Jeffress Cole Gillespie or Caleb Gindl Brent Brewer for Peavy Its pretty pricey but I think its more than fair.
  12. Mike Cameron is already a type B free agent so if he has a year similar to last years he will stay a type B and maybe might even reach type A status. Trading Cameron for anything less than what we could get as a comp pick would be foolish and Melky and Kei wasnt doing it for me.
  13. Maybe the Brewers see Gamel as a corner outfielder or at 1B with the lowsy D he shows at 3rd. Id love to sign Casey Blake then work on trading Cameron or Hart to get a LH bat into the lineup.
  14. For the sole reason of not losing a draft pick I have to favor Kerry Wood or Trevor Hoffman. Dont get me wrong Im not against signing Fuentes but with Wood and Hoffman only costing us money its hard to pass up.
  15. Id go balistic if we could trade Corey Hart for Andy Sonnanstine and then aquired David Dejesus. All you would have left to do is sign a couple relievers to the bullpen (Brian Fuentes or Kerry Wood??) then fix the 3rd base problem (Gamel Hall platoon?) and you're set for the season. I think this team could easily contend for the Wild Card in 2009 RF DeJesus 2B Weeks LF Braun 1B Fielder SS Hardy CF Cameron 3B Gamel / Hall C Kendall SP Gallardo SP Parra SP Bush SP Sonnanstine SP Suppan RP Fuentes / Wood RP Villanueva RP Riske RP McClung RP Coffey RP Stetter RP DeFilice / Shouse

  19. Some people look at his actual stuff instead of his Strikeout and GB rates and see the potential the guy has. I wanted to trade Corey Hart for him so we can upgrade RF with a LH bat that increases our OBP that can maybe even bat leadoff. I viewed that as a good swap because I heard someone talk about a potential Edwin Jackson for Randy Wynn deal on another site and I thought how about Corey Hart instead of Randy Wynn.? I dont think as highly of Corey Hart as alot of the people do around here so Id rather trade him now while he has value even if it is selling low instead of seeing him going down the Bill Hall path and have him become untradeable.
  20. Dave Bush wishes he could throw high 90s heat like Jackson but I can see the comparison you're trying to make. I saw Edwin Jackson come in against the Redsox a couple days ago and strike out 4 in 1 1/3 innings. When I see the type of stuff he has I see a guy who could be a star in the league as a closer which is where my interest comes from. Hes still young so whos to say theres no chance he cant cut the walks down and increase his strikeouts? Pitching, OBP and more balanced lineup is some of the major issues we have to address this offseason and in this simple trade we add some pitching we remove a glaring weaklink in OBP and a RH bat in an already right handed heavy lineup. Theres plenty of LH hitting outfielders in the league that can play right field and leadoff so this move would open up a spot for one of them. I kinda agree that this would be trading low on Hart but what other pitchers could we get for him? Tampa is overflowing with pitching and have pretty much already said that Jackson is available plus we know Tampa loves our castoff outfielders after taking Gross from us. I think we can all agree that Corey Hart is definately an improvement over Gabe Gross so the trade makes sense for both sides IMO.
  21. - Trade Corey Hart for Edwin Jackson - Trade JJ Hardy to Minnesota for Nick Blackburn and Denard Span (Love that idea fleehaw) - Sign Casey Blake - Bring back Cameron, Counsell, and Kapler RF Span 2B Weeks LF Braun 1B Fielder 3B Blake CF Cameron SS Counsell / Hall C Kendall Gallardo Blackburn Bush Parra Suppan CL Jackson RP Torres RP Riske RP Villanueva RP Stetter RP McClung RP Dillard The team OBP rises and the lineup becomes more balanced. The bullpen is cheap and the rotation is deep albeit lacks a star at the front end to go along with Gallardo. That could be fixed with signing Randy Johnson if Arizona doesnt bring him back or if Ben Sheets cant get a decent offer on the open market and returns for a year to up his value. If any of those situations occured it would force Parra to the bullpen as a 2nd lefty unless we somehow manage to move Suppan for some other junk. I believe that team could easily win 90 games especially with Randy Johnson or Ben Sheets.
  22. Would anyone swap Corey Hart for Edwin Jackson?
  23. If Bob Brenly is brought in as manager is there any interest in the two? I know Curt wont be able to pitch till midseason if hes able to pitch at all but Randy Johnson really intrigues me. Johnson wont be a Type A so we wouldnt lose a draft pick. His 08 numbers were solid posting a 3.91 ERA in 184 innings and even though hes lost some zip on his fastball hes still managed to strike out 173 batters. Theres some rumblings about how he might not be brought back and in that case I see him as the perfect stop gap till Jeremy Jeffress is ready in 2010. I remember last season when he passed Clemons for 2nd place all time on the strikeout list in Miller and the type of reception he got. Randy said he would never forget that moment and how classy Milwaukee fans were for was for doing that. Do you think there is any chance he finishes his career in a Brewer uniform?
  24. I just dont see resigning CC realistic so I would kick the tires of the free agent market. I wouldnt want a long term deal to anyone so if we could get a 1 year incentive deal on someone like Freddy Garcia, Mike Hampton, Carl Pavano or a Matt Clement I would look into that. If Curt Schilling or Randy Johnson wants to play another year then I would look into that option as well. If we cant get a 1 year deal with one of them I say we just go after Jared Washburn and ride out his 1 year deal until Jeremy Jeffress is ready in 2010. I wouldnt bring back Mota or Gagne but Shouse on the otherhand I would bring back unless he reached type B status and then I would just let him walk and take the comp pick. On offense I bring everyone back besides Bill Hall. Hopefully we can beg JJ Hardy for the good of the team to move to 3rd base and ship off Bill Hall for whatever relief help he can bring in return. If Hardy will move then we should bring up Alcides Escobar and give Rickie Weeks another chance to redeem himself. He played good down the stretch and I still believe in him! I say bring back Counsell for a utility IFer and Mike Cameron solely for the purpose of getting a comp pick after the 2009 season. If Gabe Kapler wants to return in the same role as he was in last year then I would welcome him back as a 4th or 5th outfielder. SP Gallardo SP Bush SP Garcia / Hampton / Clement / Pavano / Johnson / Schilling / Washburn SP Parra SP Suppan RP Torres RP Riske RP Villanueva RP Stetter RP McClung RP Whoever we get in return for Hall RP Shouse unless he reaches type B status then I say give the job to Defilice or Dillard C Kendall 1B Fielder 2B Weeks SS Escobar 3B Hardy LF Braun CF Cameron RF Hart Bench Rivera Nelson Counsell Gwynn Kapler
