  1. There was some relevant questions in keith laws chat today on ESPN. "Kyle (CT)[/b] Would you trade Mike Minor right now? What do you think the Braves could get for him?Klaw [/b]Yes. I think he could be the central prospect in a deal for a second-tier player - not a Lee or a Haren, I mean. Jack (Houston)[/b] What kind of stuff does Mike Minor have? I'm hearing rumors of a Corey Hart-Mike Minor trade, sound like a good deal to you? Klaw [/b]I wouldn't trade anything of value for Hart. His first half is way over his head, and hitters who can be beaten that easily would scare me if I was looking to acquire them for a playoff run." I hate Keith Law with a passion...
  2. That article makes him sound like the Braves pitching version of Matt LaPorta which I hope is true. Im not sure how I feel about Kawakami. Hes alot better than his record suggests but would he be worth 6.6M as a back end starter?
  3. Maybe Medlen's impressed them enough as a starter that they consider him expendable? If this rumor is true Id take it without thinking twice.
  4. Wade Davis, Jake McGee and some lesser prospects would seem like a fair return for a year and a half of Prince plus 2 comp picks.
  5. I would imagine we would have to give up a 5th starter in any deal with them to replace Sanchez or Bumgarner in there rotation. Would a package of Hart, Narveson/Bush/Capuano or even Parra + another piece be enough to bring back Bumgarner?
  6. They were rumored to be interested in Corey Hart along with Josh Willingham and Jose Bautista but I havent heard more about that in the last couple of days.
  7. What do you think about the Braves as a potential landing spot for Corey Hart? If they offered up Kris Medlen I'd have a hard time turning that down.
  8. Why wouldn't a package around Bumgarner get the job done?
  9. I like Marcum but the fact his fastball only averages 87 MPH really makes me nervous. Not to mention the lack of time we would control him compared to Lawrie.
  10. Theres some speculation on the JSonline that Jim Edmonds is gonna be signing a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.
  11. I guess this only leaves Smoltz for the Mets. I figured they wouldve got one of Sheets or Garland or even both...
  12. I wish they would consider trading Byrnes for Suppan before they release him.
  13. It sounds like Melvin is still interested in Doug Davis. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/121409-Latest-MLB-buzz
  14. I dont see the point in trading for Blackburn when we could sign the same player in Jon Garland on a 1 year deal and keep Gamel.
  15. I think Carl Pavano would be a better comparison. He still can hit 90 on his fastball, has the ability to strike some people out and was the victim of some bad luck that skewed his ERA.
  16. I wouldnt mind if he was only a 2nd lefty out of the pen but then again I was kind of hoping that would be Narvesons job.
  17. Edwin Jackson makes alot of sense to me. A Gallardo, Jackson 1-2 would look pretty solid. Theres not many top of the rotation guys out there to be had and his salary wouldnt cripple us from signing another starter in free agency like a Lackey signing would.
  18. With all the talk about the 2008 Draft I was wondering if anyone heard anything about Josh Romanski?
  19. I couldnt remember what was wrong with him so you're probably right. I just knew he missed the year with some injury.
  20. Im starting to get really excited about some of the lesser touted highschool draft picks in the 2008 draft. Nic Bucci and Damon Krestalude are pitching great in Helena. They've been putting up nice start after nice start it seems like lately with each one of them eating up a huge chunk of innings. I cant wait till next year to go see those two in the same rotation as Arnett, Odorizzi and Heckathorn. I still have alot of hope for Seth Lintz, Maverick Lasker, Stosh Wawrzasek and Blake Billings as well. Laskers command has been outstanding especially after his arm troubles he had a year ago. The college guys need alittle recognition as well even after Frederickson and Adams struggles. Theres still alot to be excited about with Wooten, Michael Bowman and Lucas Luetge. Everyone knows Wooten but Luetges been flying under the radar alittle bit but seems like a potential loogy in the future. I never hear much talk about Michael Bowman on these forums. He's had some decent success so far in the minors so I was wondering if he has any MLB potential? I realize he doesnt miss alot of bats but he seems like a decent arm aside from that.
  21. Someone mentioned in another thread that they think Hardy to a team like the Orioles makes the most sense in the offseason. After he said that I got to looking at there team and I got to say Id really enjoy seeing Brad Bergeson pitching for us. He doesn't have a great arm but he finds a way to get people out. You cant argue with his stats (currently posting a 3.48 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP in the AL. Hes got a streak of 10 straight outings going atleast 6 innings something that is extremely hard for us to get out of any of our pitchers not named Yovani. Another cheap innings eater in the mold of Dave Bush who we would have under control for quite sometime wouldnt be too bad to have around. Then re-sign Hoffman and go after a guy like Duchscherer who has the flexibility to go between starting and relieving.
  22. I wouldnt mind going after Rafael Betancourt, Kiko Calero, or Joe Beimel as some rentals. The fact that there all potential type B free agents makes it more enticing and we wouldnt have to see McClung out there in the 8th again...
  23. I guess the only hope would be for Boston to be apart of that and for them to include Jed Lowrie along with a pitcher like Bowden or Masterson. How would this sound Brewers give up JJ Hardy, Brett Lawrie and an A ball arm Brewers recieve Roy Halladay Redsox receive JJ Hardy Redsox give up Jed Lowrie and Michael Bowden Bluejays recieve Jed Lowrie, Michael Bowden, Brett Lawrie + A ball arm Bluejays give up Roy Halladay
  24. Thats EXACTLY what I was thinking. A year and a half of JJ Hardy who even though is slumping is still in the middle of the pack for type A infielders according to the latest Elias Ranking so hes gotta be worth 2 decent prospects. The question is which teams in the playoff hunt could use a short stop? The Redsox, Tigers, Mariners, Twins and the Giants come to mind. So what kind of prospects could they add to sweeten the pot for Toronto so we can hold onto Escobar and Gamel?
