  1. Unless you are just mad that they changed the logo at all, I don’t see how they can mess this up. Based on what was leaked it seems like they updated their uniforms from. If given the choice, yes I would vote to leave the original logo alone, it is great and no one was asking to change it. But I’m not totally opposed to some tweaks if done well, and understand the tweaks that were made are small. I just think overall, the sum of those tweaks, the end product is just...worse. If you absolutely need to change something, then go ahead and fill in the white webbing and change the seams on the ball, no big deal. I even think there are other changes that probably could’ve been made and still look ok. But the rest of the changes they made creates an end result that just doesn’t look right. The ball is less centered, the whole thing looks oddly skinny and taller. Yeah it’s little things, but the overall effect is just worse. At least to me it is. And that’s especially disappointing when literally doing nothing to the logo would’ve satisfied pretty much everyone. I also really don’t like connecting the bridge between the m and the b. Not only do I think it looks worse, but the old logo was, literally, an “m” and a “b”. We all fondly remember the moment we learned that. Now, while obviously subtle and nitpicky, technically that is no longer true.
  2. Yeah Padres did it right, just like the Blue Jays and Astros before them. Updated a classic look without unnecessarily tinkering with a beloved logo. While I wish the Brewers just left a great logo alone, I’m not opposed to tweaks. The Blue Jays did tinker with the classic logo...they just managed to do it well. I’m sadly resigned to the fact the Brewers have managed to not follow suit
  3. Because someone was hired and told to update the logo. Rebrand. Refresh. So they did something just to do something. And they made it worse.
  4. I am *shrug*. The seams - meh no big deal, go ahead and change them. But the rest, even though they are small tweaks, somehow look...just worse, cheaper. Look, I know it’s petty and such a small deal, and at the end of the day I’m not actually as upset as my ranting here leads on. But we all know that our teams irrationally, to some small extent, become part of our identity. And tweaking what was already perfect and ingrained in many of us as the truest Brewers logo just rubs me the wrong way, makes me uncomfortable, makes me a little sad.
  5. I, for one, will be doing my part to protest this by never buying a piece of Brewers merchandise with that bastardization. Yes they are small changes...but they blew it. Seriously, how hard is this to not screw up? You have such a fantastic logo. It’s almost universally loved, and the overwhelming majority of fans want it back. No one is calling for any changes to it, we just want it back. So just freaking use it. As is. No work required. No logo designer needs to be hired so he can tweak it and justify the money wasted on what you’re paying him for this. Adjust the jerseys all you want but don’t change what doesn’t need changing. I’m becoming more upset (well...equally upset) about how stupid the decision is the change the logo at all than I am about the changes themselves.
  6. This x100. The ball in glove is classic and among the best logos in sports, period. No we don’t have 27 World Series titles, but that doesn’t mean our logo isn’t great, even perfect. Make the ball in glove, in its current glorious perfect form, the primary logo. Forever. However else you want to tweak the jerseys/colors...hey go nuts.
  7. Yeah, it looks like a knock off of the original you’d buy on an imitation jersey from China for $8 on eBay. I’d prefer they didn’t change a thing, but not surprised they did and wouldn’t be totally opposed to a tweak if it was done well. But somehow, the things they changed make the new logo look less updated and more...just... Wrong. Off. Cheap.
  8. Whatever they do with the home jerseys - these need to be the road jerseys. They are perfect. Don’t change a thing.
  9. How do you make any logo/brand not boring? It’s all subjective, but many feel the Miller M logo/jerseys are just plain bland, myself included. Trying to be “not boring” doesn’t mean a concept has to be groundbreaking, unique or dazzling, but some looks just end up feeling generic. The Astros and Blue Jays had bland, uninspired jerseys in the 2000’s. Then they rebranded with a heavy nod to past, classic uniforms - and they both knocked it out of the park. Sharp, classic, non-generic, easily recognizable as a brand, great jerseys. I hope the Brewers have paid close attention to those rebrands.
  10. I generally don’t care what the restaurant is called, but if they are actually permanently naming it Restaurant to be Named Later? Oof.
  11. Also, not really a player acquisition/placement question, but an absolutely huge question mark in 2020 will be: Can Lorenzo Cain return to form offensively? He was a gold glover in the OF but he was flat out not very good offensively, and not just after he got hurt. Carried a sub .700 OPS for the last 4 months of the season. I am actually shocked to see an offensive WAR of 1.0 for him on baseball reference. He was such a huge offensive piece of the 2018 team, and needs to be again if this team is to contend in 2020.
  12. Grandal pretty much earned the max he possibly can this year, he was fantastic. And I’m guessing he has priced himself out for the Brewers. That said, the days of a 4-year deal for a 30-year old catcher may be gone. The Brewers should be able to offer a competitive 2-year deal, or maaaaybe a 3 year if they want to pair him with Yeli for the extent of his contract. And IMO you offer him a little extra even if that means no Moose
  13. Listen to anyone talk about one specific topic for 3+ hours, 100-163 times in 6 months...and you will find reasons to be annoyed by them. Bill and Rock, and Lepay for that matter, are good baseball broadcasters. Not perfect, but good. Be careful what you wish for.
  14. It’s not as simple as you get what you pay for. Josh Hader is barely making $1M over the past two seasons. Total. The Brewers, and many others here, felt they had a number of young, cheap pitchers that they expected would be key contributors, so felt their money was better spent elsewhere. And that money was quite well spent, on 2 of the best 4 players on this team (Moose/Grandal). But the pitchers simply haven’t produced anywhere near expectations.
  15. the explanation is the Braves and Cubs have more resources than the Brewers. I know that's not an explanation people want to hear, but that's the explanation. It is amazing to me how quick Brewer fans are to bail out management by saying they don't have any money, you can't expect them to compete with the Atlanta Braves!! We are a small market team. Draft and develop. Man, I want to own a team in a market where the fans are like we just can't afford anybody. It's unbelievable. It’s not that they can’t afford anyone, it’s that their margin of error is so much smaller. They can’t swing and miss on huge contracts like Jason Hayward, Yu Darvish, and Tyler Chatwood...then go sign Craig Kimbrel anyway. The Brewers absolutely can afford anyone. They just absolutely can’t afford to miss on them.
  16. I mean, compared to many other MLB teams...yes, they are. And no, it’s not a charity. They aren’t going to spend more money than they make. And no Attanasio isn’t going to donate tens of millions of his own money to sign Craig Kimbrel. It’s a business. The Brewers revenue is significantly less than many other MLB teams, which means they have significantly less money to spend. It’s simple. And as a Brewers fan, it sucks. But it’s not changing, which is why Stearns has much less margin of error in his acquisitions and FA signings. One bad signing now can set the team back for years to come.
  17. the explanation is the Braves and Cubs have more resources than the Brewers. I know that's not an explanation people want to hear, but that's the explanation. Yep. And by resources, you mean money. More money. Simple as that.
  18. Agree that baseball coaches influence on a team/player is often overstated. But it’s also offer understated, like here. If they are nothing more than scapegoats, if it’s all on the player and not the coach - why bother employing coaches? Or why bother paying any coach more than another - they all have equal, small value after all, I guess? Chris Hook’s job is to get the pitchers to produce at their best. That’s not happening, and many are underperforming compared to just last year. I’m not necessarily calling for his head, but if that’s not something he’s accountable for - what exact purpose does he serve?
  19. This. People complaining about Stearns not making a move, what is he supposed to do? Add 2 quality starters and 2 relievers? Woodruff, Davies, Hader. That’s 3/13 of a good pitching staff. How do you propose he fixes the other 10/13? And yes, it’s his job to put together a decent staff in the first place, so I that criticism would be fair. But it’s not like he can just pull a handful of quality arms out of nowhere.
  20. He was not torrid for 3 weeks. He was torrid for 3 games - from April 29th to May 1st. 3 HR in 2 games, then 4 walks in the following. Went 1-1 the next day for an OPS of 2.500 over 4 games. From May 3rd to May 17th, he had an OPS of .712
  21. Rooting hard for Jesus...but if you can no longer even start him against a lefty, it’s probably time for him to go.
  22. Every single batter on the Twins roster currently has an OPS above league average. That is insane.
