  1. Of course it is factually correct, and the issue has been well-documented, but it's always disappointing to me that Maris is credited as breaking Babe's record when he got 8 extra games (which he needed) to do so. Babe hit 60 home runs in 154 games. Maris hit 58 home runs in 154 games. He then played 8 more games and hit 3 more home runs. For what it's worth, Babe did play 4 more games that year - in the World Series - and hit 2 more home runs. Babe has still hit more home runs in the first 154 games of a season than any non-steroid user in baseball history, and he did so 92 years ago. That is ridiculous.
  2. He’s not out there on the mound missing his spots So you think he’s doing a great job, the players just aren’t executing? Of course some of the blame falls on the players. But if your pitching coach doesn’t bear any responsibility for an entire staff of hot garbage...what is his responsibility?
  3. Come on now...Grandal, Moustakas, Gamel, Thames, Guerra, Anderson, oh and that guy who just had one of the best Aprils in MLB history. I agree that many players are playing poorly and there are real problems on this team, especially pitching. But this is just too much. I think we expect Yelich to be ridiculous at this point... I don't think any of the others listed have exceeded expectations. Moustakas has been himself, Grandal for 18 million is expected to produce and apparently I'm the only one who thought Gamel was an excellent addition. Anderson had an amazing season two years ago and was very good last year as well.... I don't think it's a stretch to say a few have met expectations and most have severely underachieved. I do think it’s a stretch, however, to say “nearly every guy in that clubhouse is considerably worse than they should be so far.”

  5. Anyone hear any clarification on the weird exchange between Counsell and Schildt in the 7th (I think)?
  6. Very much on board with Keuchel over Kimbrel at this point. Put Burnes or Woodruff back in the pen where they were such weapons last year. Hader has shown that in today’s baseball you don’t need to be a starter to maximize your value to the team. As contrary as it runs to a century of baseball logic, with Counsell I believe we are better with a strong bullpen and ok rotation than a strong rotation and meh bullpen.
  7. Definitely stinks, he was our best pitcher in Sept/Oct last year bar none, just dominant. But let’s not forget that on August 21st he was sent to the minors with an ERA over 5. It’s not like we’re replacing Hader’s 2018 production. Relievers are volatile, I trust Stearns will find a way to replace Corey’s productivity, and no that doesn’t mean we have to get Kimbrel (though I’d love it...for the right price)
  8. No offense taken at all - like I said friend of a friend, so I’m not sure if I believe it either. Figured it interesting enough to throw out there either way. But the *supposed* source is someone that would absolutely know what was offered.
  9. Friend of a friend has a connection with the Brewers, claimed the Brewers offered Kimbrel 2years/$20mil. Kimbrel’s agent countered with 6years/$100mil. Brewers said they’d go as high as 3/$30, but Kimbrel’s counter offer basically ended negotiations on the spot. Kimbrel is going to need to come waaaay down on expectations if he wants to be paid to play baseball this year.
  10. Based on the speculation out there on social media, I’m guessing the conversations have gone something to the effect of: Stearns: Hey, since no one is offering you a multi-year deal, we’d be willing to give you this high AAV deal for 1-2 years Kimbrel’s agent: Yeah...we’re not getting those multi-year offers, so let’s talk details and I think we can work something out (Jeffress and Knebel go down) Kimbrel’s Agent: Wait, scratch that, you need Craig badly, we want more years and/or money to finish this deal. Stearns. Ok. Then nevermind.
  11. Small tangent - it was interesting to me to see so many players comment on the record about Kimbrel in McCalvy’s story today. I don’t know what, if anything, to make of that. Just dont recall seeing many MLB.com stories with players commenting on a rumored acquisition before.
  12. I also have no doubt that the Brewers brass, including Counsell, do not look at their team as starters, relievers, closer, etc. So it’s not like they figure that the bullpen is good, let’s focus elsewhere. They think - we have about 1500 innings that need to be pitched this season, how do we fill those innings. A certain percentage of those will be high leverage, win or lose you a game type innings. Being able to add Craig Kimbrel to fill 60-70 of those innings, regardless of who else is on the team, is a huge deal.
  13. Hmm interesting, thanks for the intel. Still could just be a result of the AmFam deal coming together after the sign was constructed...but wild speculation and conspiracy theories sound like more fun.
  14. I'm a Knebel fan, and he absolutely dominant last September/October. BUT...he was also demoted to AAA with a 5+ ERA at the end of August. I don't think it's crazy to leave him out of the top 100.
  15. I hoped the same, but expected basically what we’ve seen. Save the 2nd half of 2017, watching Chase it seems there is a simple problem here. He’s just not a very good MLB pitcher. Doesn’t throw hard, doesn’t have great stuff. He’s an ok #5 or decent replacement rotation piece, but not much more. I will be rooting very hard for him to prove me wrong, but I just don’t see it. He was such a glaring sell high candidate after 2017, but the total lack of rotation depth precluded that unfortunately.
  16. I haven’t been there to confirm...but based on the previous pics it appears that is just the opposite side of the sign/tarp. So one side has the barley M, and one side has the AFFP logo. Again...on a brand new sign/stadium, it would seem to suggest there’s something else underneath that they don’t want revealed yet. Or, as noted above, perhaps it was just a last minute update when the AmFam deal came together, and is a temporary solution for this spring until they can update the sign permanantly after Spring Training.
  17. I wasn’t alive in 1982, and have absolutely zero emotional connection to the 1982 team. I like the ball-in-glove log because it is perfect, with a legitimate argument for the best logo in all of sports history. Also because our other current logo is, at best...ok.
  18. I'd go to the table with Knebel but that's it. He was a blue chip prospect from the start, unlike many flavor of the month Brewers relievers. Hader? I know he's not due for an extension anytime soon...but if there's any Brewers reliever I'd ever consider an extension for, it's him.
  19. Although baseball caps - far more so. I don’t really have any further point here...just saying.
  20. Wow great catch, I did not notice that at all. Seems to be all but a guarantee the Miller M and barley are on their way out.
  21. I'm curious - do people like the newer dark blue and yellow BIG look better? Or the old royal blue and yellow? I'm a much bigger fan of the old royal blue and yellow color scheme. And yes please with changing the script on the front of the uni's, never been a fan of it at all.
