  1. Wonder if CarGo (the Rockies' version) could also be heading to the Mets. My fantasy team would hate it.
  2. If the Cardinals offer the best return, I'd absolutely make the deal. In an odd way, I'm a Cards fan. As I grow older, I care less and less about getting mad about a rival's success, but the 2 things I moderately care about going into any MLB season are: 1. The Cubs not winning a WS 2. The Cardinals not winning another WS If #2 happening helps #1 not happen, then so be it. Priorities. Even if this wasn't the case, and we were trading with the Pirates or Reds, I'd still make the trade in the division if it meant the best return. Trading Lind and/or Gomez means competing in 2016 is officially off the table. That's as long as Lind's contract runs (with the option next year), so I don't care if I'm helping a division opponent in 2016 as well.
  3. 6 man rotation for the rest of the year in theory doesn't bother me at all. Reduce the innings strain, let Lohse pitch and lose.
  4. I obviously am not a scout, but just looking at the numbers, one could do worse than a 20 year old slugging .606 at catcher in high A ball.
  5. I'm not against a trade - I just wonder if MLB GMs are smarter than daily fantasy players/gamblers that realize that guys like Aramis can hit if they are facing the corpse of Chad Billingsley in a good park. I'd definitely try to sell a GM on his recent numbers regardless and somebody may bite for sure.
  6. Frazier has gone @Pit, @NYM, MIN, (MIL), @WAS, @MIA, CLE, CHN - tough stretch of right-handed pitching as well as tougher parks to homer in on the road. Aramis hit a bomb in Colorado, hit Trevor May, destroyed the Phillies (to be fair, Hamels started one game), crushed the Reds, and hit Jeff Locke. Aramis has probably hit his stride for the 2nd half like he used to do a lot with the Cubs - that said - he's crushing a bunch of bad pitching in hitters parks. If you put together a list of who he has hit hard lately, most aren't even in an MLB rotation anymore.
  7. Per many sources. Jacob Nottingham Daniel Mengden
  8. I think you're taking your Herb Kohl comparison too far here. I can't imagine they do this. Heck, the more realistic option is that Mark tries to compete again next year, in which he'd want Garza anyways.
  9. I would want the doors blown off, because 3.5 controllable years is major value in itself...that said, what good is 3.5 years when you are planning 2-3 years to rebuild? A balancing point might have to be found to get great value for the controllable player while he still has the controllable asset to his name. Of course, I am saying this with the assumption that Mark is willing to do a 2-3 year rebuild, which he is likely not.
  10. Devil's advocate (and this is mostly my opinion) - if the Brewers are hoping to do a full rebuild, what good do Davis, Gennett, Peralta do? If one believes that the timeframe is 3 years, those guys will be in their late arbitration years by the time the Brewers are good again. You're right that maybe the Brewers have a higher value for them than other teams, but none of these guys have star potential(I like Gennett's platoon advantage, always was a Davis fan, etc. so I do like these players)...so if somebody wants several years of control of pretty good players and they are offering younger players, why not?
  11. Not that I think this projected staff is terrible - but none of these guys have the potential of Price, Shields, Archer, Odorizzi, Moore (pre-injury), or maybe Cobb. These guys are more in-line with the depth that the Rays bring up to the back end of their rotation. Jungmann is a huge wild card, I guess. I feel like he's probably going to regress to the #4 guy we expect, but I guess maybe they brought him up right as he blossomed.
  12. As an over-analyzing fantasy/daily fantasy player who notices this stuff, might other teams be skeptical of adding Ramirez when his recent success has been a homer @Coors, a homer against Trevor May, and running ravage on the Phillies/Reds "pitching" offerings du jour, then taking a long break against the Braves/Dodgers competent pitching staffs before hitting an admittedly decent staff (but they were throwing Locke and Worley in those games).
  13. I would trade any of those guys in the list of 5. I don't see a single one of those guys being an All Star or high-value player, save for maybe Jungmann/Nelson taking the next step. They're all relievers save for Nelson/Jungmann, which are nice to have, but if we rebuild, will be too expensive/not around soon and all are very volatile in stats and injury. To answer the question - I will stick with what others are saying - nobody is untouchable. I'd even consider trading Taylor Jungmann right now. Jungmann is pitching slightly better than a certain pitcher that didn't deserve to be in the Majors last year (or ever) but had a nice "surprise the hitters" stretch of games to open his career. That pitcher was Shane Greene, and the other teams in the trade got Robbie Ray and Didi Gregorius in the deal, both of whom will add value over their control-time. Shane Greene will enjoy matching his 1.5 career minors WHIP for the next several years when the Tigers finally give up on him this year - all because the Tigers got excited by a lucky stretch of grounders that he threw for a month with the Yankees. Moral of the story is that all it takes is one silly GM to overreact to things like Jungmann's first month. So, Jungmann would be the one guy I'd be skeptical of trading, but if somebody wants to pay me for a month of over-achieving after "decent" (Greene was terrible) minors production, I'll take it.
  14. Yeah, I can't see them parting with Sano. I like Arcia more than the Twins do (understandably they got sick of Ks), but I'd shoot for a younger player. I'd have to imagine that Arcia would have 4 control years after this one? That's not insignificant and he could be dealt later on, but I'd rather just go for somebody in the minors.
  15. If a platoon featuring the LH side going .870 right now in a tough park and several capable RH guys, I'd like to know what you consider strong.
  16. Maybe Perez can develop some power, but I doubt he's a very productive player. I do agree that it's too soon to tell at age 24 sometimes and more importantly, if you're going into nuclear rebuild mode, then by all means give him an extended look. He just reminds me of all of the guys in the Phillies lineup (Cesar Hernandez, Galvis, Herrera) and filling out the bottom portion of the Twins lineup (Escobar, Danny Santana, Nunez) among countless other players that have a place in the MLB, but should be strictly utility guys. But again, if the Brewers are rebuilding, until they have an infielder ready to take his spot, there would be worse things to do than give a guy with some athletic ability a chance. That said, players that have barely over a .300 OBP (it was trending upwards) in the minors do not excite me unless they have incredible raw power.
  17. Puig is under control until the end of the 2019 season and if the Dodgers made this silly trade, the Brewers could worry about trading Puig for more value in return then, because he'd only be in his late 20s. Again, though...I don't know why the Dodgers would do this (for the reasons which the original poster points to).
  18. I don't think the Dodgers would give up Seager and I also do not think they really have a user for Gomez. I mean, they'd play him, but he's not really an upgrade over Puig in RF, Joc in CF, or Ethier + Van Slyke (when healthy) or Guerrero platoon in LF.
  19. I'm really not excited about the idea of Perez starting anywhere on the diamond...if I had to choose between the two, I'd take Gillaspie. Not a projectable stick, but I like platoons and you can make something reasonable out of it. He's probably closer to the .700 guy even with platooning, but maybe you can peddle him off next year if he has another fun BABIP streak like he did to open 2014.
  20. You can't say that Segura has fantastic value and then rip another player for having 1 decent year in the midst of several uninspiring ones...because that's what Segura's career is. I don't think the league sees much in Segura anymore. In terms of Nimmo though, I've heard his name a lot but don't know much more...I'm assuming the scouts think he'll develop some power? Otherwise, I don't know what a guy struggling to hit .800 in AA brings to the table.
  21. I'm in denial about how bad Garza is. Maybe replace him with Peralta. I'd also think that Friedman understands that Ross is a decent pitcher that has insane Petco Field splits over his career. Peralta is a nice back-end f the rotation guy with upside. The Dodgers would want a lot more than that. I think they're fine just finding scrap-heap guys for their rotation like Friedman does until they find a blockbuster for another ace.
  22. Ellis is a dime-a-dozen in production but he's Kershaw's guy and also plays the RH side of the platoon with Grandal.
  23. Jeez you would think they could have a decent bullpen once in a blue moon. Every year it is the same problem. I used to post a lot about this, their GM always seemed to be enamored with "name" relievers and "closer experience." They need help in their rotation as well. Trading for 1.50 career minor league WHIP Shane Greene was a hilariously bad idea.
  24. It will never happen, but I think the Twins might be smart to deal Buxton right now. He has more of a Cameron Maybin feel (might work out years down the road) than a McCutchen feel to me. Have thought that as he's gone up the ranks. Trade him while his stock is still astronomically high for the top trade piece on the market. Of course, you could be wrong and make your entire fanbase very angry.
  25. I'm not sure about Baltimore...they seem to subscribe to the "has platoon bat, will play field" theory. They've grabbed a bunch of solid sticks that they just plug in the easy corner OFs (Parmalee, move Davis to OF, Pearce at 2B, Snider, etc)...they seem to have a plethora of decent-hitting players that they find to platoon all over the field..and they have depth or will be creative to find it. Their worst enemy is Buck Showalter getting obsessed with the hot hand and riding Delmon Young and Jimmy Paredes (admittedly, he's held on OK) into the ground. Even De Aza, who is a decent LH platoon piece didn't fit into their plans. They seem to have a lot of these guys on the scrap heap.
