  1. Bell's Hopslam--Crazy Delicious (even more so than Mr. Pibb and Red Vines) With a name like it has, you'd expect the Hops to me overpowering, but the actual complex taste really surprised me. I was going to pick up a 6 pack for opening day but I figured I'd wait for an occasion where I could better enjoy the taste. anyone else have this yet? $16 for a 6 pack is pretty steep, I tried it first at Sugar Maple before I bought a sixer http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  2. jjbobblehead...where do you normally go in the Wales area? I work in Delafield so I was curious.
  3. I just called the sussex one and went up there and I got it for $36 plus a 20% coupon. Awesome. They also have the Therma Base retro logo jacket which I almost ended up getting.
  4. New Glarus Black Wheat--I really love the mouthfeel on this beer. The wheat and creamy mixture to me is very refreshing New Glarus Iced Barleywine- this is a BIG beer. I only drank 2 and that was plenty. Very diverse flavor profile, and alcohol is as well hidden as possible for a beer that is about 14% ABV Ommegang Abbey Ale- had a 750ml for the marquette and badger 2nd round games. this was a terrific beer. Brewery Ommegang never disappoints. With the addition of so many "beer" bars in the milwaukee area, I was wondering if anyone was interested in doing a "Beer thread bar crawl" at some point. It would be cool if we could do it some day there was a game on. I would definitely be willing to organize it.
  5. are you leveling me here? I think it is pretty obvious he isn't being serious.
  6. you guys are tilting me by thinking he is being serious. He was just on the D List about an hour ago and spent his time making fun of how bad the situation is. He and haudricourt were reminiscing about times when they broke camp knowing their teams had no chance to do anything
  7. As someone who does a lot of various types of cooking, a gas grill is necessary. Its versatility is great. I do a lot of grilled seafood and vegetables and have a much easier time of it with a gas grill.
  8. March 6th to the 11th! who wants to meet up for the brewers- cubs game http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  9. A heads up for all you new glarus lovers: Cracked Wheat and Unplugged Iced Barleywine are now appearing in local stores. Discount Liquor in Milwaukee and Waukesha has both of them. I will be stopping today to pick these up and I hope to have a review shortly. 13.5% on the barleywine, yikes! happy drinking
  10. Also regarding New Glarus, they are serving up 2 more wheat beers this year; Cracked Wheat and Black Wheat. All you Dancing Man fans might enjoy these different interpretations of wheat beer. I'm especially excited for the Black Wheat, a very nice full flavored wheat beer that is a nice change of pace from regular wheat beer. Also, their first Unplugged of the year is a Saison which has me dying in anticipation. One of my favorite beers of the moment is a saison made by Ommegang called Hennepin Farmhouse Ale. Hopefully Dan will be able to brew us something similar.
  11. I know this is the obvious choice, but I think it has to be Braun for a variety of reasons. 1. Exciting young talent-He's the best player on the team 2. Plays everyday (so he will be on the field if she goes to a game and has the jersey on) 3. Long contract (you won't get burned like you might if you bought a Hardy or Fielder jersey..depending on how much of the trade rumors you buy into)
  12. Pujols 7th? I wonder if that will be noted tomorrow by Keith law or Rob Neyer. I'm embarassed to be a customer of the paper he is representing. someone should ask TH that if Pujols hit .450 and the Cardinals were in last place if that would be a MVP season
  13. have a drink at Hinterland or Water Buffalo or Fratello's in the 3rd Ward. If you want to stay near the Riverside then I would definitely go to Mo's or Rock Bottom. You can get a quality beer selection and they are cool places to hang out
  14. Yeah I'm not normally a huge fan of making rash decisions and flipping the line-up everytime someone struggles, but I really think that Gwynn should get a shot at least against Myers. I mean, against a righty we don't have too much to lose do we? Or at least move Hart so he isn't hitting behind our dangerous hitters, because he's overanxious every time there is a run scoring situation.
  15. Do you guys think that the coaching staff actually knows how bad Hart has really been? .414 OPS the past month is just terrible. I just don't see why we are so against changing it up a bit. It is clear that he is completely lost at the plate. I mean, if Hart had started the year like this, it would have been a Jeff Franceour situation.
  16. Man looking at Hart's stats right now is really depressing. He might be the worst everyday player in the NL over the past 2 months. .414 OPS the last month.....brutal
  17. I see all 10 guys on ESPN predict the Phillies, and only Kirkijan (sp?) has the brewers winning more than 1 game. Rays over Twins in 4 Red Sox over Angels in 4 Brewers over Phils in 5 Cubs over Dodgers in 4 Rays over Sox in 7 Cubs over Brewers in 6 Rays over Cubs in 7
  18. if Gallardo is feeling strong, I don't see why we can't get 100 pitches out of him. If he is indeed the Game 1 starter, maybe we can get 7 innings from him
  19. we let average to below average pitchers with little to no stuff make us look bad by showing no plate discipline (jamie moyer, anyone?)
  20. great we have injured ben sheets and we're down 2-0 already.
  21. ok the meat of the lineup..hopefully a walk, a single, and a homer
  22. someone should have told the marlins that going after the first pitch is only beneficial if you can make good contact
  23. if Santana breezes through the 8th i bet we'll see him in the ninth
  24. nice to see nolasco stranding 2 runners there. hopefully he settles down now and the marlins can scratch out a few.
  25. ugh i don't like these early runs when santana is on the mound
