  1. ^^^ Thanks, I’ve considered that route. Unfortunately, my time is pretty limited due to my job and the aforementioned 4-year-old. I log-in pretty early every morning to either work on current projects or study for professional exams. I’m hoping the investment in myself eventually pays off.

  3. I’m guessing waterfront property on the Eagle River chain of lakes starts at $200,000 - just for the lot. Same for the Minocqua Area. Land off the major chains might be a bit more reasonable. For example, waterfront lots in nearby Forest County start around $75,000. Another factor working against buyers these days is the cost of new construction, which has increased from ~$125 per sq ft to ~$175 per sq ft in the last 5 years. A modest 800 sq ft cabin used to cost ~$100,000 to build, but would now be ~$140,000. I wouldn’t object to buying an existing cabin, but I doubt most reasonably priced properties would meet my wife’s standards. She watches too much HGTV. I’ve been able to resist conspicuous consumption pretty well, but it bugs me that I can’t seem to shake this idea. At least it’s keeping me motivated to work and save. Plus playing on Zillow has become a cheap hobby.

  5. Would you be willing to rent it out when you weren't there? Possibly, but I’m not sure any place I could initially afford would garner much interest from vacationers. I have a more remote area in mind. I’m hopeful I’ll have a little more room in my budget a few years from now (current day care bill is $1000 per month). I just need to be patient.
  6. My personal finances are in decent shape. I spend less than I make. I own a nice, but unassuming home. I drive a used Camry. Dave Ramsey or Suze Orman probably wouldn’t roast me. However, the one material thing I lust for is my own cabin on the water in Northern Wisconsin. My son is 4 and entering the prime age for that sort of activity, but spending $200K (plus upkeep) would take me to the very edge of my comfort zone.
  7. It will be interesting to see if network sitcoms are able to resume normal production schedules. Every week they are delayed will push more holdovers to streaming.
  8. Damarious Randall was released yesterday by the Raiders. I’m hardly a BG fan, but I’ve never looked back after that one. Kizer was worth a flyer and Randall is not a starting NFL DB. Just a bad pick from the beginning (weak draft, I know ... but still).
  9. I seem to recall Tebow being adamant that he would not play tight end or any position other than QB. I could be wrong about that though. Probably, but I really thought Belichick was going to figure out how to use him and make everyone else look silly. They could have still listed Tebow as a QB, but there would have been no controversy playing under Brady. On game day, he’s the 3rd QB/RB/TE. What a luxury.
  10. Adams, Lazard, MVS, St. Brown = 4 Who am I missing in your calculation? Ervin?
  11. To this day, it still surprises me that Tim Tebow didn’t catch on as the original Taysom Hill. It’s so much easier for teams to set their rosters when they have an athlete who can play multiple positions. What a blessing Ervin has been.
  12. With the release of Kumerow, St. Brown becomes a lock - right?
  13. Minor surprise. I read he was having a good camp. Plus, Jones, Williams, and Ervin are all FA’s next year. I guess you just can’t keep 5 RBs.
  14. And the Wisconsin homers are already triggered this morning. I mean, guys like Kumerow have some value, but they can keep a younger guy with much more upside around at #4-5 WR. It seems that Tyler Ervin is basically a WR now, and he's a lock to make the team, which effects the numbers too. I like the guy, but his ceiling is probably a #4 WR. I have no problem rolling the dice with a younger player. Don’t forget, Kumerow is 28. It’s unlikely he’ll improve much.
  15. If we’re assigning blame, I’d like to point out that Lasry & Edens inherited their two best players (Giannis and Middleton) from the previous ownership group. Who have they added in 6+ years to warrant the high praise they receive?
  16. No, because Funchess's contract automatically tolls to 2021. Thanks ... the Packers could probably use BJ Goodson right now.
  17. I know the Packers are likely to receive compensatory picks for Martinez (4), Bulaga (5), and Fackrell (6). They likely would have received one for BJ Goodson (7), but that was cancelled out due to signing Funchess. Any chance they get that 7th back due to Funchess opting out? I doubt it ... but am wishful.
  18. Ted Lasso on Apple TV+ Premise: An American college football coach (Jason Sudeikis) becomes the coach of an English Premier League team 3 episodes in and I’m hooked. I loved the spoofs that aired a few years ago as advertisements for NBC’s Premier League coverage, but thought it would be difficult to convert them to a series. So far, so good.
  19. The key to being a good parent is just being an OK parent when you’re really tired or stressed out. Most Nature vs Nurture studies put Nature’s influence on a child’s development at about 70%, so as long as you and your partner are decent people, chances are your boys will grow up to be decent people too. My son could read by his 4th birthday, but when my wife is away on business, he and I order Dominos and watch Pawn Stars until we both fall asleep on the couch. Congratulations and Good Luck!
  20. Danny Vitale is opting out of the NFL 2020 NFL season with the Patriots. It probably helps that his FIL is Chris Chelios.
  21. Has anyone been able to find Clorox wipes in stock anywhere?
  22. Thanks for the suggestions.
  23. I dig the Red Tails because of the neat Tuskegee Airman history, but how does an Alabama-based military unit make sense for a DC-based team?
  24. I’d like to improve my data science and analytics skills using low cost, online training. Can anyone recommend a good platform? I’m aware of Coursera and treehouse.
  25. I struggle to think that anyone advocating keeping kids home has kids under the age of about 10. The virtual learning thing is not a solution. It was completely inadequate and a stopgap to get us to the summer. It can't continue. How many daycares have been operating normally this entire time without issue. I know of at least two, the ones my kids go. My son is almost 4. We held him out of pre-school for nearly 3 months, but eventually sent him back on June 8. It went OK, but we had to pacify him with Disney+, iPad games, and food bribes so my wife and I could get our work done. Had we continued down this path, we ran the risk of him growing up to be a giant turd. We noticed an immediate improvement in his behavior as soon as he returned to school. Kids need structure.
