  1. They had plenty of chances to punch it in. They didn’t. Take the points.
  2. Sometimes you just have to take your 3 points ... SMH
  3. I don’t feel bad about these questionable roughing the passer calls because so many of them have gone against the Packers dating back to the Fail Mary game ... ironic that it’s on Irvin (former Seahawk).
  4. I swear I’m not a prude ... but SMH at these defensive celebrations when they really haven’t played that great up to this point. The QB clearly fumbled. It wasn’t forced. Just accept your gift graciously.
  5. [sarcasm]They need to fire Dom Capers.[/sarcasm]
  6. Investing so much draft capital on that side of the ball and receiving so little production in return explains >75% of their problems. With a few of those picks spent on offense, maybe the offense never stagnates like they have since 2015? Investing in it was the right move. Rodgers needs a run game and defense as he ages. But I’m not sure we have the right leadership in place to actually make it happen. It’s easy for me to make those comments in hindsight. I agree, it seemed to make sense to address the defensive shortcomings through the draft ... their hit rate has just been disappointing. Most fans were even perplexed by the Datone Jones and Damarius Randall picks (I’d add Rashan Gary to that list, but am trying to give him the benefit of the doubt).

  8. 2 & 1 on that first drive and they have to punt ... grrr I thought they had a defense?
  9. It really makes you wonder how a team with the 17th-ranked offense and 26th-ranked defense is 7-2. I know red zone efficiency and turnover margin help explain it, but still ...
  10. Buck and Aikman are making a big deal about the weather. I raked leaves an hour ago wearing jeans and a sweatshirt. It’s fine.
  11. Assuming the Packers win today, this should help put last week’s loss to the Chargers in perspective. The infallible Saints just lost to a 1-7 team at home. Since it was a loss to a NFC opponent, I believe the Packers would currently hold a tie-breaker over them based on a better conference record.
  12. I'd say it was more like 30 years ago. To be fair, most people in the 90s just used the internet to check eBay for Beanie Babies.
  13. While college may be more expensive than it once was, I’d argue that the internet has made it easier than ever to make informed decisions about career preparation. 20 years ago, most high school students were limited to what their parents knew about college (or the work force) and the pamphlets their guidance counselor had in their office.
  14. My wife recorded it. Then she saw all the negative reviews and wasn't even sure that she would watch it. She ended up watching it and said she enjoyed it. We started watching it with our young son last night and it was better than our initial impression. Maybe 60/40 animated vs. live.
  15. My then girlfriend (now wife) started with ~$80,000 in student loans in 2010. We’ll make the last $800 monthly payment next November (2020). If everyone’s outstanding federal student loans balances get wiped clean, I’m going to be pretty upset.
  16. Did anyone catch The Little Mermaid Live on Tuesday? My wife was hugely disappointed as ABC merely spliced in some live musical numbers into the original animated film. Only ~20% was actually live.
  17. That surprises me. Even though the offense struggled early, they were only down by 6 for much of the first half. Why panic? On the bright side, the Vikings still have to play the Chargers in LA this year.
  18. Allison will be a FA again next year. I doubt he’s back. The receiver room will probably look like: 1) Adams 2) Valdez-Scantling 3) Lazard 4) Kumerow 5) *Rookie* Then either St. Brown, Shepherd, or a UDFA surprise.
  19. Lazard had 25 snaps against the Chargers vs. Kumerow’s 13. It appears Lazard is now the no. 4 WR.
  20. Thanks to meme culture, ‘Boomer’ (short for Baby Boomer) is being used to describe an individual who is old, inflexible, and out-of-touch. Some media personalities have complained that ‘Boomer’ is now a pejorative term used to express contempt for individuals above a certain age. Personally, I think it’s no more offensive than the way ‘Millennial’ was weaponized to describe those who struggled to gain traction after entering the workforce during the most recent financial crisis.
  21. My only hangup with eliminating DST is sending kids to and from school while it’s still dark out. The chances of a child being abducted or hit by a car probably increase without DST.
  22. I just thought they might win the division. Host a playoff game. Never went into this season thinking Super Bowl. Hopefully they can right the ship and still win the division. Not sure though. That’s pretty much where I’m at too. Anything can happen if you get into the playoffs healthy.
  23. There was some inflated yardage due to the big early leads. I never understood this. Jumping out to big leads and then allowing the other team back in it shouldn't count against your defense? How is that inflated? They jumped out to a huge lead against the Vikings, then the defense let them back in the game....but that shouldn't be held against them? At some point, you’re playing the clock and not your opponent. I’m not saying the yards don’t count, but rather trying to add some context. Much like baseball, raw stats aren’t everything.
  24. There was some inflated yardage due to the big early leads. Their red zone and scoring D is (was?) much better. I’m not sold on this team, but I’m not throwing gas on the fire tonight either.
  25. Those two ST gaffes really loom large (blocked punt and offsides). Both resulted in Chargers’ TDs (their only TDs).
