Suppose Gardner Minshew becomes an above average NFL starting QB. The Jaguars will still be paying Nick Foles while Minshew is on his rookie contract. What a bummer.
"Lets Rock" Do you think Jones wears #33 to honor Bundy? Honestly, some of the offensive ‘struggles’ (can you even call it that after scoring 34 points?) are probably due to 1) playing in a totally new offensive system and 2) barely playing together in the preseason. Also, I’m OK with Rodgers’ conservative play as he enters his late 30s. The Packers are 4-0 in games where they’ve won the turnover battle. They have an above average defense and a punter who can net them 50 yards. Taking care of the ball is underrated.
With 4 TDs in a single game, Aaron Jones matches Al Bundy’s career high. Though, to be fair, Jones did not have to go through Marion ‘Spare Tire’ Dixon.
I think it’s more this than a collarbone issue. Also doesn’t help that he’ll turn 36 in a few weeks. I mentioned this in a previous GT, but Driver, Jennings, Nelson, and Jones were a special foursome.
Would the Cowboys have been able to challenge the King interception for PI had they still had a challenge? I know the turnover is automatically challenged, but I don’t think PI is a reviewable component of the automatic challenge. Could the Cowboys have initiated one? Is so, shame on Garrett for challenging the 23-yard Tonya. reception that was clean. With PI challengeable in today’s NFL, a challenge is worth more than 23 yards.
I’ll take the Cowboys 31-23. I’m 3-1 in my BF picks (I had the Vikings beating the Packers in Week 2). A Packers’ win wouldn’t shock me. I think they’ll come out with a bit of a chip on their shoulder after being run over last week, but I worry about Zeke and that line. Maybe Dak will be good for a TO or two? Enjoy the game, BF. GPG!
In defense of Clay, he played in 143 out of a possible 160 regular season games. That’s 14.3 games per year or 89% of all games. He was hurt a lot, but he played hurt. Great Packer.
If I were the commissioner, I’d implement the following replay changes: 1) Eliminate automatic challenges (scoring, turnovers, <2 minutes). 2) Give coaches a maximum of 2 challenges. 3) Allow just about anything to be challenged. 4) Throw out the call on the field. What do the two dozen HD views show? Replay should only allow egregious calls or non-calls to be corrected (like Jerry Rice fumbling in a playoff game).
That was my reaction at first, but I guess it was at the behest of the players (and not the media / PC police). If you respect your employees, I think that’s a request you honor. I have a few direct reports at work who refer to me as their manager. If they asked me to use a different term to describe my role (no matter how ridiculous) I’d probably honor their request because they are decent people and have always shown me an appropriate level of respect.
